Rude customer service, dumped fries in bag, paper receipt in the burger container, stood salads on their sides, got an attitude when I asked for a big bag for my three orders; been there three times and always the same. Will never go back to this location.

Glutton for punishment… husband went again today to pick me up a salad. He paid for guacamole — no guac in the salad.

Wanted to give the new Ellicott City location a shot, but we were greeted at the cash register with, «There’s a 30 minute wait.» A 30 minute wait for a burger??? The funny thing is that it wasn’t that crowded, so they must be short-handed in he kitchen.

I can tell you why this place only has an average 3 star rating. While the food is delicious(if you can get it), the service usually stinks. I’ve been to this location about 5 or 6 times. About 4 times I’ve had a problem. If it’s not them forgetting to make my food altogether, they have made me the wrong food(and that stinks when you’re picking it up!). We’ve narrowed it down to one specific person who looks like she might be a manager being there every time. It’s the apathetic attitude that keeps the place down, and never an apology for a delay, forgotten item or wrong food. We keep going back for the food because the variety for a quick lunch in Ellicott City stinks, but we have our fingers crossed every time. Enjoy the food, but make sure you follow up with your order!

I really wanted to like this place because like so many of us I’m a burger feign… but it was just so-so. The burger itself was solid. Cooked well, the right amount of condiments, a great bun and good-to-very good taste. The packaging was less than desirable as its packed in a clear clam shell type of container. Reminds me of hospital cafeteria food packaging. Sides. I had fries and fried pickles. Both were so salty that neither could be eaten. What’s a burger without fries??? Overall I’d go back if I didn’t have any other option. I wouldn’t go out of my way to experience it again like I did for this trip.

I love their sweet potato fries! the crispy chicken sandwich was ok. a little too greasy for my liking but that’s ok! I’ll try the grilled next time. Their sauce they home make«Smash sauce» is great! it tastes just like honey mustard(which I always want when I go out to eat) For the most part, the staff are friendly and never rush you out! Will come here again.

First visit to the new Ellicott City location of this chain. It’s in a small new development on the south side of US40 not far from Enchanted Forest. I had the«big» version of the Spicy Baja. It’s smashed flat(as per the name) and extends well beyond the bun. Toppings and bun were crisp and fresh, no sog 15 – 20 minutes later when I ate my carryout. I also had the«smash fries» which are shoestring style, which are tossed in olive oil and seasoned. Great texture and flavor, and the regular-sized portion isn’t the typical over-size serving of caloric regret. I was impressed by flavor and textures, easily one of the better under-$ 10 burgers I’ve had, and some great fries. The turnaround for burger and fries was under 3 minutes, so I assume the food was already cooked, but not pre-assembled as in traditional fastfood. They also have a full list of chicken sandwiches for the non-beef eaters in your group. The only thing I’d like to see would be kiosk-based ordering, and maybe later hours on the weekend. Definitely Recommended.

Great experience. It takes a while to decide on what type of burger you want. So if there is a line behind you… beware lol We ordered 3 different burgers and they all were delivered hot and fresh. I was a little disappointed about my spicy buffalo fries they were a bit underwhelming. Other than that it was good. We will return when back in the area.

I got the avocado chicken club. The avocado was fresh. I enjoyed the burger; it was a good size too esp for someone like me. The fries were very good. not oily. However their onion rings were salty and oily… no good.

I’d like to preface this by saying I’ve never written a negative Unilocal review before. I believe it’s too easy to vent on this site while positive experiences rarely make their way here. However, I can’t stop thinking about how awful the Smashburger staff was to us so here it is… My husband and I arrived at 9:50p last Monday and promptly placed our orders. The gentleman at the register was nice although he continued to make comments about how they were closing soon — which we were already well aware of. As one employee mopped the floor around my feet, I was told that I couldn’t order a shake because they weren’t serving them anymore that night. Clearly, they’d cleaned the shake machine and didn’t want to get it dirty again. Not the biggest deal. My complaint is regarding the back of house staff who made nasty comments the entire time we were waiting for our order. I’m sure they realized we could hear them as they were speaking loudly through an open kitchen window — in our direction. Highlights included, ‘Man, I can’t believe this shit. Someone rolling in ten minutes before we close. I fuckin’ hate that.’ After sending out our burgers, the cook said, ‘Whatever man, tell them we’re out of fries.’ To which the kid from the register replied, ‘They’ve already paid for the fries. They want their full order. Quit being lazy and get the fryer going again.’ I put all this in quotes because it’s EXACTLY what was said. The guys behind the window continued to complain and berate us for coming in a few minutes before closing. This continued for the 15 minutes we waited for our order. It was the rudest and most disrespectful experience I’ve ever had at a restaurant. I’ve worked in the food and beverage industry for years. I know what it’s like to clean up early each night, hoping nobody else will come in and you’ll get to leave right at closing. Nine times out of ten, someone comes in. If your store hours say you’re open until 10:00p, then a customer can come in and order until then. They should be able to do so without being shamed by the staff. A clueless manager made an appearance right before we got our food. He clearly had no idea what was going on in the restaurant or with his staff(who were mostly hanging around talking to each other.) We were so uncomfortable at that point that we took our food and left rather than complaining to the manager within ear shot of the kitchen. This location has only been open seven weeks. SEVENWEEKS and we were bullied over a burger.

My dinner was just ok. The burger was good but my garlic fries were boring and my peanut butter shake was kinda thin and not very peanut buttery.

3STRIKESYOU’REOUT! On the first occasion I ventured into smashburger, my boss actually went for us. I thought the burgers were good, however they left off the cheese(goat cheese). I called and notified the manager, she asked me to come back the next day so that she could remake the burger. I declined and thanked her for the offer, I just wanted to let her know about my first experience. The second occasion, my companion and I went for lunch. As Im reminded now, we observed the place to be quite messy. People didn’t know if they should leave the food on the table at the end of the meal or take it to the door(where this is a trashcan). There were napkins, straws and food on the floor in some areas. We chalked this up to maybe all the kinks hadn’t been worked out as far as the operation of the restaurant and their staff. The milkshake had quite a few ice chunks in it, and one order of our fries was extremely oily. Our food came out separate and my burger was missing the cheese(goat cheese). I said to myself then, maybe its just busy in here and we should try again later. Orrrrrrrrrrrrrrr maybe they dont give af and just make you whatever they feel like making you as based on previous reviews, they have a really hard time getting orders correct. The staff’s clothing: They were very disheveled and that was annoying to see. The third time I went, guess what wasnt on the burger, GOATCHEESE(GAAAAAHHHHH). Now… I think they just dont like it(goat cheese that is). Everything else was there but the fact that my goat cheese wasnt there again, IMNEVERGOINGBACK. Like EVER. I think I’m going to send this review to corporate.

Came in on whim and was really excited to see them in the area. It was one of first nights of being open and they were slammed however they handled the crowd perfectly. The restaurant was clean, and staff friendly. The menu has a lot of great burgers and salads. The fried pickles are totally worth skipping the fries! The portobello mushroom burger was scrumpious! I am totally looking forward to trying more soon.

I was very excited about the new Smashburger in Ellicott City; however, it has failed to live up to the hype. The best thing I can say about it is they have decent fries, with a variety of seasonings. I have been twice and both times they did not give me items that I ordered and paid for. Give me Five Guys any day.

Dinner last night: Smashburger. This was my first experience and I’m trying to give them a pass since they just opened their doors a few weeks ago. I walk in and see a young lady at the counter with her arms tucked into her short sleeves shirt. Now, it is cold and she is right by the door so I get it, but Management, please let this young lady get a long sleeve shirt or wear a sweater. Thanks! First thing out of her mouth was that is was going to be a 30 minute wait. Ok. I guess I’m cool with that. I ordered my food and waited. During my wait, that was interesting. I guess you can say kids will be kids because they were just talking and talking about nothing. This is the work place and customers are standing in your presence. You have to fake the funk until we leave. I really just don’t like that. As promised, after around 30 minutes, I got my food and it was deliciously awesome! Nothing negative to say at all about the food. So here’s my two cents in the basket: Better customer service. Take care of your associates. Great food. Good night!

Worst customer service EVER. All I wanted was to go enjoy a nice milkshake with my friends. After waiting about 30 minutes, we asked them where our milkshakes were. The workers said they made the milkshakes but«gave them to the wrong people». All they did was play the blame game. The manager did not even bother to apologise and immediately blamed his workers. Once we finally got our milkshakes, the cups were not even full and the presentation was so sloppy. On top of that, one of the milkshakes did not even have a straw. The employees and especially the manager did not care about customer satisfaction at all. They just wanted to finish work as fast as possible and leave. Never coming back here again.

My wife and I went to this restaurant for the first and the last time. The staff were friendly, but they forgot to give us our fries and drinks(we had ordered online). It took us about 5 minutes to receive our missing items. The food itself is good, but not good enough to justify spending $ 30 for 2 adults to have lunch. Five Guys is a better choice overall(you’ll get more for your money).

This is most definitely our new favorite burger place. Way better than Five Guys! There are more options and the food is amazing! The service was friendly and so fast! The food came out as soon as we sat down! I had the cucumber, spinach, and goat cheese burger(beyond amazing) and fried pickles(very good, but a little on the salty side). My husband had the smash burger(simple, perfect burger) and smash fries with rosemary and garlic(to die for). We will be back very soon!

I am not a big burger eater, but I like what they have here. I ordered avacado burger with smash sweet potato fries. There is a significant crowd for Saturday lunch. The setup is very similar to the pi5 next door including the décor, the menu and the process. But I would probably choose smashburger next time. well you know, it is hard to beat burger. The burger is juicy and balanced. But I am not a big fan of the fries. They looks quite greasy and the herb&oil does not taste very well either. I will go with regular sweet potato fries next time.

Five Guys doesn’t need to worry about this competition. Items were delivered to our table one by one as they came out of the kitchen, burgers and chicken were excessively salty, fries and onion rings were skinny little slivers of mostly coatings and oil, and nearly every item we ordered was prepared wrong. It’s a newly opened restaurant, so I expect mistakes, but we’re not sure we’ll ever be back.

This location just recently opened up. The customer service was pretty good, but the food was just alright. My one friend ordered a Chesapeak Smashburger. Yes, it was his fault for not really reading, but he was expecting some sort of crab or old bay to be on it, which it wasn’t. My other friend ordered a chocolate milkshake. It was pretty much a vanilla shake that was light brown. If you go here, ask for extra syrup because they only put 1 spoonful in an entire milkshake. My friend did send it back and they were nice enough to replace it with a new one. I got a chicken sandwich that had spinach, goat cheese and cucmbers on it. I thought it was pretty good and the chicken breast was huge. I had to try their buffalo fries as well. They were.interesting. It tasted like franks hot sauce was put into powder form, which was good, but it then it became very salty after a while. There isn’t a whole lot of seating, so if you go during a busy time, plan on eating in your car or hovering over people who look like they are finishing up.

The Smashburger here in Ellicott City has just recently opened(like in the last week or two). As I’ve previously been to the Smashburger in Baltimore, I know what to expect. We had 4 burgers last night(the last hurrah of my Turkey Day weekend vegetarian hiatus), and the verdict was two thumbs up from each of the munchkins and some very full belly rubbing. The menu might be a little intimidating, there are several different kinds of burgers here. If you go in and feel weird, just try the classic smash. There’s no way to go wrong with that. Once you’re feeling saucy then try the bbq, bacon burger, and then maybe move on to mushroom and swiss. They also have some vegetarian options… the bean burger and a couple of different kinds of salads. Their fries are great, and the SO agrees that the ingredients just tasted fresher and better than any burgers we’ve had in recent memory. Smashburger is consistently the best burger joint we’ve been to on the East Coast. Their recently opened location is pretty sweet. It’d be nice if they had a drive through because it was so busy last night that the line was almost out the door.

The service was horrible. There was no line either. We ordered food to go and almost every order was wrong. We ordered three large fries and got one large and two regular. A large burger ended up being a regular. Another burger had nothing on it except cheese. Kids meal — got apple sauce but no drink. Never going back. It’s a lot of money for food and they don’t have it together to get the orders right.

It is such a hit even though it was just open its door last week. It’s known for its fresh and natural ingredients except ketchup which still contains high fructose corn syrup. The line flows well for both to-go and dine-in except my order. Unfortunately it got lost. After waiting at the table for over 30 minutes, two staff checked on my order and fixed it up. The staff also gave me free burger and coupons which I appreciate the level of customer care they have. I didn’t expect that from a burger joint. Thank you. Peppermint candy drink is pretty good. Not too sweet.

This place just open so hopefully they will become more polished after a few months. The positive the burgers had great taste and flavor. The negative, they looked nothing like the photos I order the BBQ, bacon burger and it had hardly any onion straws like the photo showed. Still tasty but I felt shorted due to the lack of onions. My husband liked his classic burger, especially since he could add a fried egg. The large fry was really small compare to the photo they had hanging in the restaurant which had the large fry in a huge basket. We had to ask an employee if we got a large fry because it was such a small portion. They were tasty. The fried pickles were a great portion, but we felt they were a little salty. You will have to ask for a side of ranch because it does not come with it. The milkshake was disappointing because it was not thick at all. It was almost chocolate milk. I am hoping because they just opened it was made before I ordered it and that was the reason for the lack of thickness/ice cream. We will defiantly be back and hopefully next time the food will look more like the photos.
