Papa Murphy’s – Ellicott City

I really wanted to like this place and give it a better review, but 3 stars is generous in my opinion. After reading other reviews, we wanted to try the pizza here, so I stopped by after work and got a large with pepperoni and pineapple (my family’s favorite). I took it home and baked it according to the directions and it came out testing like a very average frozen pizza you’d get at the grocery store. I’ve actually had several frozen pizzas taste better than this one. Also, I’d rather buy the costco pizza that you bake at home over this one. It wasn’t terrible… Just very very average. I might try it again, but spending close to $ 15 on a take home pizza seems unusual to me.

I was really surprised how much I liked Papa Murphy’s pizza! I ordered the Angus with green peppers and it baked up perfectly. Ordering was easy, pickup was fast, and I got a free tub of cookie dough with a coupon. It was a little pricier than the average pie but baking at home means you can eat it when you are ready. No soggy, lukewarm pizza. No frozen grocery store stuff that’s sat for ages. Just a perfectly crisp and fresh pizza out of my own oven. I’ll definitely be back try the other toppings and crusts.

My fiancé and I tried their pizza this evening for dinner… Best pizza I’ve had and the best part is that it was baked right in my own oven. Can’t get pizza any hotter than that!

Wonderful place, great staff, fresh ingredients and they even have gluten free pizza dough, thin crust, thick crust and even Chicago Deep Dish. So glad we have on in Ellicotty City MD. We will definitely be back to get our take and bake home pizza. Great cookie dough too and they have salads. You pick your dough, your toppings etc and then take the pizza home to cook it. Even comes in a pizza cookable plate. Just preheat oven to 425 degrees and in 15 minutes you have fresh hot pizza.

This is a surprisingly good pizza. It may not look like it when you pick it up, but the final product is quality. The ingredients are fresh and the flavors have depth. They are on our pizza places list the next time we are in town.

Great pizza place for busy week nights that require a quick dinner. All the pizzas that I have tried are delicious but my favorite are the gourmet thin crust ones. The process is quick and easy and the employees are all nice and good at their job. Upon entering you simply tell them the type of pizza you want and they make it right there in front of you so you see the entire process and can customize the pizza to your liking. As an added bonus they always have coupons in the mail, in-​store, and online that keep the price a lot lower than any competitor in the area. A great dinner that can please even the pickiest of eaters.

Second visit — Tried thin, rather than original or deep, since the dough is different. The wait in the shop was 20 minutes. Those that had ordered on –line had shorter waits. This one was done in ten minutes though I did twelve because I like well done. I put it about a foot from the hearting element. In my opinion this crust is much better!
I was taught to make pizza from scratch which is a lot of work. Sometimes there are rising issues and at times the stone smokes but you can control the quality and the organic aspects and the salt. When a co-​worker mentioned a place that does it all but the baking and cutting I decided to try it.
The place is clean and the staff friendly. Directions and a one use pizza tray are included. If you’re hungry they have salad.
I followed the directions, put the rack in the middle, preheated the oven to 425 °F, put it in, and at the suggested minimum time of 12 minutes it was done however I like well done and left it in for a total of 16. The maximum they suggest is 18. After cooling 2 – 3 minutes it sliced easily. It’s a deep dish cheese pizza, rose nicely and isn’t salty. The dough was OK so I’ll try a different dough next time.
Mine is better but this is easy to make, fun, and there’s no mess. I cleaned the pizza wheel and the plates.
If I’d been served this at a pizza joint it would be three stars. If baking it is going to be fun for your family it’s worth an extra star.

Hands down my favorite pizza. I won’t eat pizza from anywhere else. Fell in love with this chain when I lived in Colorado. I can’t tell you how happy I was when one opened near me in Maryland. Fresh clean food. Great prices. Amazing staff at this location. The manager Christina is especially helpful. My favorite pizza is the gourmet vegetarian, add black olives, chicken, and salami.

Been eyeing this place for a few months, but was hesitant because it was take and bake. However, I decided to go since it’s what separates them and makes them unique. I’ve worked part time at a pizza store, so I have a general idea how things are. The store was incredibly clean, and nothing complicated. Very simple and different from your average store. I ordered an Angus steak and roasted garlic, and I could say that was the best pizza I’ve eaten. The toppings are very fresh, and flavors compliment one another. It does have a bit of garlic taste, so if you aren’t into garlic try something else.
Also, I find it extremely convenient that the paper plate they give you the pizza on can go straight in the oven. They say 15 minutes at 425 degrees, but I think 12 is fine. Not a huge fan of too crisp, and everyone has different ovens so start checking on it after 10 minutes. Without a doubt I will return to try out their wide variety, and go grab yourself some if you are around.

OMG… We chanced upon Papa Murphy’s because we were in the area and looked on Unilocal to see where we could get something decent and vegetarian. I saw Papa Murphy’s and from the reviews was willing to try it, even though we had flat bread last night. So glad we did! We got their veggie pizza with creamy garlic sauce and IT WAS FREAKING AWESOME!!! It’s a take home and bake yourself place. I have to say, I think whenever we go to Ellicott city we will order pizza here and grab it on the way home to bake when we arrive, it is REALLY good!_

We like European style thin crust pizza. Papa Murphy’s thin crust pizza a are delicious. I like the fact that we can have fresh pizza right out of our own oven. So happy that Papa Murphy’s is in our neighborhood.

For those of you seeking a take-​and-​bake option, this is a good choice. You can place your order on-​line. I had some questions, so I called on the phone, only to later find out that you save money ordering over the internet. The phone service was patient and helpful, explaining the options and concept. When I picked up the pizza, the staff was friendly and the location seemed very bright and clean. The un-​baked pizza looked terrific, with plenty of the extra toppings that I had added.
The pizza was in a cardboard-​ish tray that goes right in the oven. Clear cooking directions were included. The pizza baked well and my family enjoyed it. The taste reminded me of a Red Baron pizza, but of course with fresher ingredients.
I can’t say that I would use the take-​and-​bake service again, even though this experience was good. $ 16 seems high for an uncooked pizza that I have to go pick up and then return to my house to cook it myself. I’ll allow that the ingredients here might be a step-​up from a typical pizza delivery place, but I can get a larger (cooked) pizza with quality toppings at Wegmans for less money. But that’s just a personal preference.

Papa Murphy newbie. The original Cowboy take n’ bake pie was very good, I will partake again. The only negative was the operation itself. The staff seemed completely unprepared for the Friday evening crunch. The pizza builders spent a lot of time simply waiting for either ingredients or dough to be delivered to the assembly area, and when it did arrive there too much unproductive movement. The 15 minute wait was simply too long for an uncooked pizza. I will try again because the pie was really good, but they need to get their act together.

Awesome pizza glad to see them on the EC! The prices are great and you can even build your own pizza.

A new concept for pizza. The manager or owner is totally on top of things. The employees are teenagers, but he really helps them follow the flow. I can tell they are all good kids.
There is a choice for everyone… from thin crust to pan, to Chicago style. The toppings are endless and you can create your own, or they have several ideas. The cheese and sauce quality was above average for takeout, so that’s a plus!
You have to take this home and bake it. They even provide the pan. We actually went a little crazy and ordered three pizzas. My total was $ 34. The manager told me they only keep for about a day, so you need to cook them right away.
I like this idea and will try it again. No beer for those who enjoy a beer with their pizza. Stop off at Jason’s.

This is my first Papa Murphy’s Pizza experience, but I just loved it.
The place is very new. Extremely clean, people are very friendly, and helpful. They took their time to explain all the different options to me.
They offer gluten free option, with no extra charge.
Owned by a local family –always the best, as you should always put your best foot forward for the people who knows you
We choose a large pizza (family size) with herb tomato sauce, and mostly vegetarian toppings. I was happy to see they offered sundried tomato, and artichoke hearts as an option.
We also got a GF pizza, with sausage and olives on it. It was nice, not to pay extra for GF crust. And their size little more generous than other GF pizzas we tried around.
Both the pizzas baked wonderfully. The middle didn’t get soggy, and the crust was really tasty.
I am sure we will be coming back.
