Three words: free concrete pad. This was a huge plus for me because another contractor wanted $ 750 for a pad. So after doing a ton of research and phone calls I found out about Calvin Generator. Apparently Generac has only heard really good things about these guys because when I called Generac, the person said some really nice things about them and even knew them on a first name basis. When I got the quote from Calvin Generator and saw their package, I was very impressed. These guys are the top of the food chain when it comes to generators. Their reputation is great for a reason.

I use these guys to do maintenance and service on my 22kW Generac generator. They do a great job and are real experts on generators. They’re also always on time. One of their local competitors didn’t show up (twice) when I was expecting them. So I called Calvin Generator to service my home backup generator. When I first called them my automatic standby generator wouldn’t start, John had it fixed 4 hours later. Go with these guys. They’re an authorized generac dealer and are really helpful.

John just finished installing a generator for my house. I checked prices with my neighbors and his were not only low but he let me use an installment plan to pay with no interest.
He is dependable and thorough and works as long as it takes to get the job done correctly, not just what you paid him. He comes from a family of electricians and is a Master electrician himself.
He will go the extra mile and during the job he helped me find a problem that another sub had created in my heating system which we would never have figured out had it not been for John. He is very honest, pleasant to deal with, and does great work at a reasonable price and we are very happy we found him.

So we just wrapped up the installation of a home standby generator at my house in Ellicott City, MD. My first impression of John when he arrived for our consultation he asked some very good questions. Then he went to his truck for about 15 minutes and came back with a printout of my homes electrical calculations and a folder full of really good material. I was really surprised at how fast he had put together the folder with 2 different installation scenarios. Later I found out that he was a Master electrician. The guy is 28 years old, If you’re not impressed that he’s a master electrician and impressed with how on-​top of generators he is, then I can’t help you lol.
He also included a free 5 year warranty, a free wireless monitoring device, and installed a concrete pad, for cheaper than the other companies. Not one other company that I know of offers the concrete pad for free like John does. I called around and no one could match this deal.
Support local businesses and give Calvin Generator a call. Especially when there is a true generator professional right in Ellicott City.

I am so glad that I found a contractor that specializes in generators. Most of the guys selling generators are Handymen or Plumbing/​HVAC. I just don’t trust either one with my generator. That’s why I accepted John from Calvin Generator’s proposal.
Plus, he had a whole packaged installation. Free concrete pad, monitoring device, and a free 5 year extended warranty. And he got me financing, so I was able get a whole house generator installed for about 130 bucks a month.
Best news, power went out as I was typing this… wait ten seconds… POWER IS BACK ON.
Prepared for this power outage.

I highly recommend Calvin Generator. First off generators are their specialty as the name implies, not a giant HVAC/​Plumbing/​Electrical Co. that also does generators. John is very knowledgeable and personable, he is proud of his relationship with Generac and is on top of all of the latest advances and incentives. I compared his prices with a couple of the giant companies and there was no comparison. Now the job took a little longer than anticipated partly because we had solar panels installed prior to the generator and there were some additional provisions to be made to ensure the two systems would perform together properly. Again John’s knowledge and diligence was asset. If you’re shopping for a backup generator talk to John, and be sure to get other quotes, John encourages that, the more you know the better you’ll feel working with John.

John took care of everything. I am glad he did because it would be too much for me to schedule the plumber, electrician and work with the city to change out the gas meter. I am very pleased with how everything went. My whole house’s power stays on when even everyone else’s power goes out. Thank goodness because I have medication that has to stay at the right temperature. I should have done this two years ago before my basement flooded because the Sump Pump doesn’t work without power. That was an expensive fix. oh well these guys have me ready for the next storm.

I think we can all agree that this winter has been incredibly tough. Having lost power multiple times at my home, we decided a generator was a very necessary next investment for us. We talked with a few different companies that gave us quotes and even a few that did a site visit. No one was as thorough as Calvin Generators. They were friendly, efficient, and very respectful of our time and wallets. Now if winter can make way for spring, we may even work on going green with their solar panels!
