I wanted to like this place and I gave it three chances but was very disappointed each time. The first time was during opening week. A group of us from work walked down. Behind the register there is a window into the kitchen of the bakery. There were approximately 7 – 10 people(including a baby) back there chatting. No one had on hairnets or gloves and the two girls that waited on us(who kept running back to the kitchen) were barefoot. Heck, in one of the pics someone else posted you can see the woman behind the counter is barefoot or is wearing flip flops in a restaurant. Gross. I already had reservations but I cut them some slack as a new business that I want to succeed. So I got a sugar and chocolate chip cookie. Ate half of each and then committed a cardinal sin of baked goods. I threw the rest of the cookie away. They had a very mediocre store brand«take and bake» type artificial taste. A few weeks later my coworker ordered a cake for a party she was throwing. It was a beautiful looking cake but the taste was not good at all. It was very very dry. I heard some ladies whispering that it tasted like it came from a box. The cake wasn’t cheap and my friend was very disappointed. The final straw was when a vendor brought us goodies from the bakery to a breakfast meeting. They cinnamon rolls looked lovely in their packaging but they were store bought«pop the can» rolls. There’s just no mistaking the taste of those canned cinnamon rolls. Artificial and no where near enough cinnamon with that bland sugary white icing? Plus, you know that outer layer that’s on those canned rolls? It’s tough and has that strange rectangle shape? Everyone throws it away? Yep. These rolls had it. My coworker looked at me and said«these are pop’n’fresh, aren’t they? Yes. Sadly they were. Sigh. I wanted to like this bakery. It’s in a great location and downtown desperately needs local eateries. This place won’t last if they keep using substandard premade/boxed baked goods and passing them as fresh made at a premium price.
