History

Established in 1995.

SoLace Studios began as a place for Barb Polin to create her marbled silk and leather clothing and accessories which originally she sold at craft shows. In addition to Polins studios in Elkton, her marbled creations are sold in over 75 galleries and gift shops as well as national catalogs. The shop was originally open only one day a week. Now a full time, seven day a week gallery, Polin also sells the fine handcrafts of over 200 Amercan Craftsmen.

Meet the Business Owner

Barb P.

Business Owner

For Barbara Polin, it started with a gift for a friend, a piece of lingerie she fashioned with some scraps of old lace. Then she created a few more pieces of lingerie. Then people asked to buy some, so she started making more lingerie. Then she began calling what she did a business. SoLace.

In the meantime, and while working fulltime for a local printing company, Polin was dabbling with another craft, marbling. Now marbling fabrics, sewing them and selling the finished items has become a fulltime job.

Polin, of Penn Laird, Virginia, has hit that lovely balance between art and fashion with her beautiful clothing she calls «artwear.» She also makes marbled accessories from leather, men’s neckties, handbags and wallets. All in sweeping chevrons of blues, aquas and maroons. Swooshing bouquets of reds, yellows and lilacs. Waving sunsets of purples, oranges and pinks.
