This place is an untapped fabulous junkyard that guarantees an adventure with ever trip. During the spring you are greeted by a young boy in a pickup truck with a thick southern accent offering cantaloupes for a buck or a bag of taters. There’s no signup sheet or paper bracelet at the gate, you just walk on in and start browsing. This establishment also serves as a scrap metal yard. Immediately upon strolling through the gates you will find yourself in the shadow of an enormous magical mountain of lawn chairs, pots and pans, empty 5-​gallon cans of cheese dip, broken dryers and ice cream trucks. As you weave through the first few rows of abandoned and mangled Pintos, Escorts and Volkswagen bugs you will see hub caps, ceiling fans, and dog bowls scattered along the muddy dirt grounds. Wear your hiking boots and brave the outfield of this huge graveyard of damaged automobiles. Be sure to bring drinking water and a bag of tools as there is no way you will not find a treasure you want to take home. Closer inspection of the interior of these beautifully patinaed vehicles, (that’s rusted for those in Alabama), will give you a glimpse of the former owners. One will notice an abundance of old shoes, car seats, library books, beer cans and paperwork. Along with your Caftsman tools, bring your camera or cell phone, cause RJ’s is made for Kodaking.
