Beth Sholom Congregation

We spent a very warm Sunday afternoon on a tour with Helene of this beautifully designed building.
You are greeted in the gift shop area and given a brief history and then watch an informative movie. But it is the tour of the rest of the building and the commentary that was very engrossing.
I believe the tour runs for about an hour… but with all the questions my husband asked it was way over that.
I highly recommend this tour. You do not have to be Jewish… but you do have to like the making of beautiful architecture.

Absolutely stunning, very welcoming and I felt right at home here. Whether you are observant or not (or even Jewish for that matter) it’s well worth a visit to see this amazing facility.

Beauty and spirituality all in one place

My two-​year-​old daughter has gone for day care at Beth Sholom for the past year and we have been very happy. The teachers are very caring, and I feel completely comfortable leaving my kiddo there. The facilities look a little drab and worn out to me, but I don’t think this affects a child’s experience much. The daycare and school certainly have a religious education component, but my family isn’t Jewish and this has never been an issue. (Except for the time I sent her to school with ham and cheese for lunch… not Kosher!). Beth Sholom losses one star for closing on every freaking Jewish holiday. You’ll end up wasting some vacation days staying home on holidays few Jews observe, and if you can’t take the day off, well you’re SOL; let the kid wander the streets!

Amazing historic synagogue conceived by Rabbi Mortimer J. Cohen and designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Open to the public for tours. Check their website for more information. Tour guide was very informative and there is a very well executed video about the building of the unique synagogue at the beginning of the tour.
