Total Value RV

I purchased my pre-​owned Condor motorcoach from Total Value RV on January 22, 2016. I picked up my coach on February 22, 2016. For one month my coach was supposed to be checked over bumper to bumper and I was assured it would be ready for pick up on 2÷22÷16. I came to pick up my coach and during the walk through of the coach, the generator would not start. Some bozo in the garage was plugged into the same outlet that my coach was and he was trying to run a sump pump on the same circuit. The generator would not turn over and I was assured that it would be repaired before we left. We were told that the batteries on the coach were new, so the generator should start right up. We were told to wait in their waiting room. We waited 3 hours and NO ONE came and told us what was going on! Finally, «Jim» came and told us that the parking brake supposedly had just broken and I was told I couldn’t leave and they would instead deliver the coach to me within a week. I told them I was not waiting one more minute for the coach and took it home with me, using chocks every time I parked it. I was told that the generator was working fine. (lie!) I was furious that I was lied to and that the coach was clearly not checked out before I got there. I was told to bring the coach back the following week and Total Value would make arrangements to have the brake repaired at the local Elkhart, IN Chevy dealer.
One week later we returned and brought the coach in at 8:30 in the morning, as scheduled, and told that the coach would be ready «soon». We left, ran errands, got breakfast and came back at 12:30 p.m. and discovered the coach was still not ready. We were put into their waiting room and told to wait. We waited until 3:00 and then was told by «Jim» the mechanic that he had called the Chevy dealer and that the coach was on it’s way back.
Another hour went by and still the coach was not back. Jim again told us that the coach was on its way back (liar!) and we waited some more. The coach FINALLY got back at 4:50 p.m., 10 minutes before Total Value closed for the day. Therefore, there was not time to have the generator repaired. «Billy» told us that he would «throw a spark plug in it» but that there wasn’t time to do it today and that we would have to bring it back the back the next morning. I told them that there was no way we were coming back. I was not going to spend another day sitting in their waiting room being lied to and wasting my time. And because they took so long to get our coach finished, we were sitting in the middle of a snowstorm that hit Elkhart and we had to spend the night there! I was so angry!
Total Value RV service department does not care about their customer’s time at all. They lie about how long repairs will take and they do not update you about what the status of your repairs are. They put you in their waiting room and then forget about you.
First thing the next morning, I called Camping World in Greenwood, IN. They said they would be happy to look at our coach and address my concerns. We took our coach to Camping World in Greenwood that next morning and we were so glad we did. The technicians there were highly professional and told us exactly what was wrong with the coach and cleared up all the lies that Total Value told us.
It turns out that the generator needed a new voltage regulator and the house batteries were NOT new and the Total Value mechanics had not hooked them up correctly to begin with. I am so grateful that Camping World told us the truth and showed us what was needed to be done. They sent us to Cummins Bridgeway in Indianapolis and THAT DAY all of our repairs were completed while we waited. (The Cummins employees offered to bring us lunch from McDonalds while we waited! They were so kind.) We had a new toilet installed at Camping World, and the generator repaired at Cummins all in ONE DAY! We were then on our way that afternoon to our next destination. Everyone was very professional and knowledgeable. What a huge difference it makes when you are working with experienced technicians!
I will NEVER return to Total Value RV for anything, ever.
If you decide to have any work done on your coach at Total Value RV, bring a sack lunch, a pillow and a blanket, because you will be in their waiting room ALL DAY. No one will update you on the status of your repairs and the information you are given will be inaccurate. Total Value mechanics do not know what they are doing. They lied to us about the batteries, the generator, the amount of time of the brake cable repair would take and I am convinced that they never knew from the beginning what was wrong. But instead of telling us that, they lied and told us a fairy tale.
I agree with the other reviewers on this page, and I sympathize with them. You should be wary of having service work done at Total Value RV. In my opinion, you should not take your coach to them for any repairs whatsoever.

In Dec 2014 I purchased a 2012 Lexington Motor Home with only 12 000 miles. It had been virtually unused and in pristine condition. Since then it has begun to fall apart while being used. Have had to repair at least 17 different items that broke or came apart during our trips. These issues are a result of extremeny poor quality by the manufacturer Forest River. Some of the problems are a slide that no longer works, the A/​C fan coming on when heater turned on and the A/​C fan not cycling off with compressor. Some lights on one circuit come on and off at will. Wall popped out of its only tacked in position and TV antenna crank quit working. This is just a few of the issues. Forest River a few years ago told me when I complained about the quality of another of their motor homes that I should have purchased a more expensive model. They obviously have no concern for their customers or the quality of their product. Their RV’s are designed to be lawn ornaments and are not intended to actually be used.
Never again and I would not recommend a Forest River product to anyone. A must to be avoided.
