Kovar’s Satori Academy

I went online to book a offer class for both my grandson and daughter. The times it gave me went as late as 8 but I booked 7 pm. Then my husband gets a call telling him the times are 3:30 for my grandson and 5:30 for my daughter. So I call to see why they were booked early and she said they close 5:30 p.m.
1) Why have those late times on site to pick if not true
2) I work until 5 pm. Would still have to pick up grandson and daughter from daycare probably wouldn’t make it to the studio until 6. Why would they close early? Why not give consideration to parents that work until 5 or 5:30.
3) Heard good things about this place but so far just trying to get an appointment doesn’t live up to it.
Now to search elsewhere.

The program for kids is great. There are great character lessons incorporated into the program in addition to the physical activity. I dislike the sales machine that requires the new Kovar’s branded equipment every month. They are not cheap and the kids are pressured to buy swords, nun-​chucks, pads, etc. It becomes very costly and feels like the new gimmick rolls out every month. Be prepared to pay.

The instructors at Kovar’s have had a positive influence on her life. They not only focus on martial arts but character of the individual as well. They help to develop the whole person. I have seen my daughters confidence soar while training there. I highly recommend kovar’s for all!

I have had my son, Jaden, attend the Kovars academy for 3 years. I have found the instructors, Patrick Kelly and Jason Duarte, to be professional, friendly, and positive. I highly recommend the academy for children, teens, and adults.
The academy’s manager, Leigha Aguinaga, has been an excellent ambassador to all new and current attending students. She is always positive and encouraging to all members. My son has been growing up right before my eyes and he has been learning the martial arts skills well.
I plan to have my son attend the academy for as long as he desires. (At least until he achieves his black belt!)

We love everything about this dojo. The instructors are absolutely great with my child, encouraging and supportive as well as challenging. I would suggest them to anyone looking to help their child gain self confidence and great exercise!

They have a great kids program. The teachers are wonderful, fun and exciting. My daughter is 5 in a half and loves it. Their program is so organized and grows with the kids. It’s more than «karate.» It’s a lifestyle program. My daughter has been going for 3 weeks. She goes 4 – 5 days a week. She has gotten stronger and already has «tummy» muscle «cuts» and leg muscle «cuts.» Every class begins with a short life discussion and every class ends with a reminder that their goal is black belt.
I highly recommend their program.

I had heard great things about Kovar’s before my daughter gave it a try. My daughter had no interest in trying Karate but I asked her to try it just one time. If she didn’t like it she didn’t ever have to do it again. She walked off the mat with a huge smile on her face. I asked her how it went and she said «I loved it!» From the first day until now (a year later) both my daughter and I have fallen in love with Karate and all the people who work here at Kovar’s in Elk Grove. It’s been such an awesome experience. The discipline, exercise, mat talks as well as the actual Karate are just a few of the things I love about this place! They give tons of positive feedback and you can really see that it makes a difference in the kids. If I could give them more then 5 stars I totally would!!!

We have been members of this Dojo for almost a year now… It has been nothing short of AMAZING! The staff and instructors are top-​notch people and go out of their way to engage and foster growth in their students. They are always willing to go that extra mile to make sure each student has exactly the skills they need to succeed and advance along their journey towards their black belt. They also very focused on inner growth and empower their student to constantly strive to better themselves and improve the environment for others. The self-​discipline our child has gained is absolutely wonderful!
Additionally, we had our 9 year olds birthday party here this past weekend. Sensei Kelly and Sidoshi Lester exceeded our every expectation making it «THE BEST PARTY EVER» in the words of the birthday girl. Their care and attention to detail gave us the opportunity to really enjoy ourselves and our guests.
I HIGHLY recommend this Martial Arts program to any family looking for one. You won’t be disappointed!

I went to this school because a friend of mine used to be a instructor here. The program is pretty good comparable to other Martial Arts programs I have taken. I went for the trial and only ended up going to 2 classes before i decided against going here. First off a contract, I don’t really mind a contract but if I signed up with in the first 2 weeks of the trial period the rate would be $ 149.00 after a certain date the best rate I could get is $ 175.00. Then the family rate, is $ 149.00 or $ 175.00 per person, the second is $ 121.00 and the third is $ 105.00, the fourth is no charge. So I was evaluating the school for myself and my 3 kids, bringing my total for all of us to $ 375.00 or $ 401.00 depending on when you sign up for the first contract. I find this to be a little steep since I will be locked into a 1 year contract. There is another school in the area that is $ 185.00 for a family of 4. I doubt i will be returning.

This Dojo has great instructors (Sensei’s). In the kids level classes a lot of emphasis is placed on being a good person, a good student, showing respect, effective and proper techniques.
After your child’s first class they will feel like they’ve learned *at least* one set of valuable self defense techniques. (which will leave any child or adult wanting more classes at this dojo)
Look for specials online (example 4 weeks free) to try classes for Adults or Kids.
