Traditional Chinese Medicine is a complete system of medicine used to address the whole range of health concerns; in California, acupuncturists are designated as Primary Healthcare Providers. However, the «whole-person» approach of Chinese medicine also makes it ideally suited to work alongside Western medicine.
Acupuncture and herbs can play a vital role in enhancing the effects of Western medical treatments, and they are frequently used to help manage the side effects of Western medications. Traditional Chinese Medicine is particularly effective when it comes to syndromes that are odd or unexplainable by Western medicine, or that do not respond adequately to Western medical treatment alone.

Business Owner
John Golden, MTCM, L.Ac., grew up in Lakeport, on the shores of Clear Lake. An avid musician since childhood, John went on to study Psychology at UC Davis before embarking on a year of world travel. Upon returning from his travels John worked in the acute care hospital setting, where he acquired a unique overview of the whole continuum of Western healthcare.
Training in the martial arts led to a deeper interest in Chinese philosophy and medical theory, which led in turn to a four-year Masters program in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Five Branches University. At Five Branches he received special certification in Five Element Acupuncture, and was fortunate to study under noted Five Element acupuncturists Gary Dolowich, MD, Mary Huse, RN, and Galen Fisher. John has also done clinical training at Zhejiang Chinese Medical University in Hangzhou, China.
John enjoys living and working in Sacramento, and is honored to be able to share Chinese Medicine with his community.
