Evert Automotive, located in the heart of old Elk Grove, has been performing high quality repairs, diagnostics and maintenance services for over 22 years. As Elk Grove’s only woman-​owned auto repair shop, our aim is to provide automotive services with a customized and personalized touch. We want you to understand and to be comfortable with every aspect of your vehicles’ service.

We have several ASE certified technicians that can take care of your needs. We specialize in advanced diagnostics, tune-​ups, routine maintenance, air conditioning and heating repair, fuel injection, radiate/​cooling systems, pre-​purchase inspections, brakes, battery and charging systems. We will service most imports and domestics.

History

Established in 1993.

Evert Automotive was founded in December of 1993 by Rhonda’s brother-​in-​law Joseph Evert and his father, Gene. This family team envisioned an automotive repair shop with unquestionable integrity. They succeeded in building an automotive service center with a sterling reputation for excellent service and honest values. These philosophies have been maintained and expanded as Evert Automotive has grown for more than 20 years.

Business Owner

Rhonda Mayfield started as a receptionist for this Evert family business in 1995 and soon learned to write service and manage the inventory. She quickly developed an interest in and an aptitude for the technical and business aspects of the operation and assumed management of Evert Automotive in 1997. When the Evert’s pursued other interests, Rhonda purchased the business in 1999 and has since functioned as owner/​manager.

You won’t find a better mechanic than the ones at Evert. When we had a hell of a problem with a car we bought at Carmax (long story) Rhonda was a lifesaver. Not only did she get our car fixed before Christmas so we could spend the holidays with family, but she petitioned the warranty company to cover most of the work! We’ll be bringing our car here for any other work it needs in the future, and I will be recommending Evert to all of my friends!

Honest and female-​friendly. The owner, Rhonda, will answer all your questions (even dumb ones) without making you feel stupid. The mechanic (forgot his name) is honest. I had been to another place that wanted to sell me brakes when I was just there for an oil change. Evert could have made extra money from me, but the mechanic said that I did not need brakes for at least another year. My dad, who was a mechanic (but now lives too far away to work on my car) was extremely pleased when I forwarded him their initial quote, and told him about my experience with their service and prices. This is a great place.

I just don’t trust taking my car anywhere else. I will travel all the way from Oakland to visit Evert Automotive and it’s worth it. I know that under Rhonda’s care I’ll get an honest rundown of everything that needs to be done — this is further broken down into what should be done now and what can wait until later. I have total faith that whatever they say needs to be done –actually needs to be done. There is no pressure and no scare tactics. You’ll be treated with respect and kindness. You can visit Evert Automotive and feel rest assured that you are being taken care of by genuine, above board people that have your best interest, safety and wallet in mind.

We have four vehicles and I try to fix most of the day to day problems that we have with them but when I run into an issue that I cannot solve Evert Automotive has been there to take care of me. They are honest and upfront with their cost. Some times the price ends up being less than what they quoted me! If you’re looking for a good mechanic who is fair, not going to upsell you and fix the vehicle the right way Evert Automotive and their team is who I would recommend.

It’s very hard to find an honest mechanic or auto shop these days. Ms Rhonda from Evert Automotive has been very helpful with all the issues that I’ve had with my vehicle. I can honestly say that this place will find any solution and make sure that the job is being done the right way. I definitely recommend this shop for anybody that have automotive needs.

The mechanics are friendly, experienced and helpful.
However, I had them do a tune-​up, including getting some spark plugs replaced and had to pay almost 400 dollars.
At first, I didn’t think the price was too high, but then I asked about getting my two front axles replaced since they’d worn and the boots were leaking. The consensus, which was later reinforced by another mechanic, was that the entire axles needed to be replaced. I had no problem with doing that.
This location quoted me $ 710 to for parts and labor to do that job, which they said would take about a day to complete, based on the 4 hours they said it would take to complete the job along with time needed to get the parts.
I decided to wait a week and during that time I shopped around and found another mechanic in the same city that was willing to do the same job for $ 385.
The second mechanic was also shocked when I told him how much this place was wanting to charge me for the same work.
Evert Automotive may know how to fix a car, but their prices seem far from competitive.

HONEST SERVICE
Rhonda and her crew have delivered high quality auto repair services to my family for over 25 years. On many occasions I have turned over my vehicle, expecting an expensive repair, only to be informed that the «fix» was simple and inexpensive. In other words, they could have easily taken advantage of me and they did not. You may find cheaper service out there but you will not find mechanics with greater integrity and honesty. I recommend Evert wholeheartedly.

I have to echo the sentiments of others here: I trust Evert wholeheartedly. As someone who isn’t really car saavy, it’s nice to know I can take my car here and not worry about being taken advantage of. Not just that, but the work is reliable and the people friendly. My whole family takes their cars here and Rhonda has been listening to us talk and talk and talk for years, and she’s never told us to shut up yet. I have also had some, let’s say, «operator error» problems with my car and I’ve never been made to feel stupid about it. I even lived in a different county for three years but still came back to Evert when I could.

I have going to Evert Automotive for years now. They have maintained my old Nissan with over 180,000 miles so well. I would not have been able to get so many dependable miles out of my car if it wasn’t for the honest staff at Evert Automotive. Being a woman, it is wonderful that the staff takes the time to explain to me how the various parts of my vehicle work and how to maintain them.

This could have been a nightmare for me… but thanks to Rhonda and the good mechanics at Evert, it worked out perfectly. I broke down with mystery problems that seemed to have something to do with the ignition. I was stranded 500 miles from home and my own mechanic. Evert was recommended by family in the local area, so I put my trust in them to diagnose my problem, and hopefully get me back on the road.
They took their time troubleshooting… then rechecking… and in the end discovered it was a loose ground wire but it was happening intermittently. They charged me only $ 100, (for lots of diagnostic work) and I was greatly relieved. I would have easily believed any number of things they could have told me was wrong… or have paid for some «trial and error» repairs — I was truly at the mercy of their honesty in this situation. In my mind, I had already figured it was a $ 600+ problem. I recommend them heartily. Honesty, hard work and willingness to do the job right are 3 values in a mechanic that make the difference.
