Good service. Totally recommending to others.

In the past, I’ve always had exceptional service from Elk Grove Lock and Safe (since the mid 90s), but today’s experience is not a good representation of how they generally do business. I had an appointment for Will to come out to rekey two door locks, with deadbolts. Will asked for the current door key, so that he could use it to get the lock to come apart easier (for rekeying). He said it would take a half hour, if he used the existing key, for rekeying; but it would take an hour, if he didn’t use the existing key. I didn’t want to use the existing key, because I didn’t want any confusion regarding which key would work, once it was rekeyed. I’m sure Will understood what he was doing, but as a layperson, I didn’t; therefore I didn’t want to use my existing key. At any rate, I called my husband to explain the situation and Will stopped working on one of the door locks and interrupted my telephone conversation and said, «it seems like you are uncomfortable with me working on your locks». I told him, that I didn’t say that I was uncomfortable and that I was explaining to my husband why he (Will) needed to use my existing key and it had nothing to do with him continuing to work on the locks. He proceeded to leave my home, without any apologies. I find this behavior quite strange and very unprofessional. If Will didn’t want to spend an hour rekeying my locks, he should not have scheduled an appointment to come to my home in the first place. I’m paying for a locksmith service, not someone who thinks they can read my mind. As a homeowner, I have every right to know what’s being done in my home and why; as well as to object to something that I don’t want done… especially if I’m paying over $ 100.00 to rekey some locks. If a homeowner wants the rekeying process to be done in a particular manner and it’s in line with company policy, then by all means, it shouldn’t pose a problem. This locksmith is in need of some serious training, because customers who have come to expect great service from Elk Grove Lock and Safe, are not going to be happy with this type of behavior or service. I hope my experience today was an isolated one.

We came here because we recently moved offices and lost all of our keys to our cabinets. They said if we wrote down the little numbers engraved in the key hole of our cabinets, they could re-​make the keys for us. We needed keys for five cabinets and they were able to make the keys on the spot! It did cost us a pretty penny ($ 100) but worth it in my opinion, as we got same day service.

Went there today because I had lost the key to my tool box on my work truck. I had broke into it and bent some things. She patiently helped and was extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend for everyone. As a woman in a male dominated industry myself, it’s great to see her use the tools and know what she was doing!

Extremely helpful and friendly, they were able to make a copy of our Honda van key in less than 10-​min. Since it was a basic key (no remote or transponder) the cost was half what other locations were charging.
Staff was extremely knowledgeable as well, as they were able to easily answer other clients’ questions. I would definitely recommend them.

Great service great location… super fast and quick! Went to CVS to get 4 keys made. (unfortunately they said they didn’t carry 2 of the keys I needed) I «Yelped», this location, 5 mins away, ran in got the keys made in a super quick lightning flash kinda way!!! Thank you !! Thank you thank you!

Great service and price! They came out 2 ½ hours after I called and was done less than half an hour. Jay is very efficient, honest and friendly. I could not open one of my exterior door and thought maybe I should replace the original door knob but Jay said that he will look at it when he gets it off. Well, he recommend to just replace the latch which was only $ 12.95. Did not have to go looking for a new knob at Home Depot. They had it all. Thank you Jay!

This place is great! I broke the shell of my 06 Honda Accord key and they were able to replace the shell and cut a new key without any reprogramming. This saved me a lot of $$$. Scott helped me, but everyone there was friendly and professional. I highly recommend them!

Will arrived promptly today and was very efficient despite my frequent questions. Solved many problems for us around our house (interior doors, rekey door locks, secure latches, add outside gate lock, etc.) Decent prices too. Very very happy with the service. Will certainly call them again.

This business has terrific customer service & does great business. Anita has taken care of my HB’s requests.
We are in the process of home renovations and wanted to change everything to satin nickel but a black door handle on the front door. Anita took care of our order personally. She even remembered my HB and expected him to come in today.
Anita was alone in the office until another guy walked in; probably the owner as I saw a pic of him with Mr T. There was another customer waiting in line and Anita was on hold, answered another phone call plus tried to help that next customer. Talk about an amazing multi-​tasker!!! The customer had a special need; I guess his gas cap was locked up like someone had tried to steal gas?
We expect Anita to call us in a month or so as we had to order our door stuff. The price quote on one door handle was 110 and my HB saw it going for 31 when he got home. He then contacted Anita and she was willing to order it for us for that price instead. Now I’m sold!
I’m normally would wait to finish this review. But I’m quite confident things will go well. Hope I didn’t jinx myself. Lol.
I did ask if they do residential alarms but they don’t. I did see different kinds of safes as well as other locks. We asked that they install the locks on the doors once they arrive. My HB can’t do everything but he tries!!!
Go to this local business with confidence. It’s so nice that they are close by!!! I believe they are closed on Sundays with shorter hours on Saturdays. I wished we had known about them sooner as I lost a set of my car/​home keys. It costed my HB 350 dollars to get a new set of keys. My HB got smart and found them on Unilocal!He surprising me each day! Hahaha!

Great service and price. Had Scott come out and re-​key all my locks. Saved me a few bucks on making duplicate keys and the service was excellent. Highly recommended.

This place is the greatest. I needed a car key programmed. A fuse was in question and they removed and checked it in an almost impossible place to get. They spent over an hour working to get the program to work on my car. Way above and betond the call of duty. Got the job done. Very professional and excellent service. Use trst guys!

This is a good lock and key shop. I have been going here and to their old location on Stockton Blvd for about 15 years. I’ve always gotten good service except the last time I went in. I stopped in the get a electronic coded key made and was told I needed to also bring the car in. I was quoted a price of $ 58. When I returned a few days later I was charged $ 81. I told him I was quoted the lower price, but he said it was $ 81. I’ll still go here when I need something special I guess, but for simple keys I will go to a big box home center.

I was going shooting so I had all my ammo locked up in my center console. I was on my way out of the house just grabbing a bit more ammo so I go to unlock the console. To my surprise my center console wouldn’t unlock! I can go shooting with ammo so I run over there and pull up the nice lady is working on another car and says she’ll be just a minute so I wait for about 5 – 10 minutes and she asks me what I need. I tell her my predicament and she come right over and lubes my lock and picks it right there. It was a total of about 5 minutes of work. She suggested to me how to fix it and doesn’t charge me because she has to get back to work on the newer car and doesn’t charge me anything! She knew just what I needed and how to fix it. This place is great.

Customer service is above and beyond for this place. Very accommodating and friendly. If you have key or locksmith needs this is the place to go!

EG Lock and Safe does it again! Keyed a new GM ignition lock for me without fuss and at an EXCELLENT price. I don’t need locksmith services all that often, but when I do there is nowhere else I will go.

Elk Grove Lock & Safe saved me over $ 150.00 today! Thank you Anita for helping fix our front door handle and lock combo! (And she did it in record breaking time too!). Please use these guys for all of your lock and safe needs! 5 Stars all the way!!!

Our steering wheel kept locking up and the usual fixes didn’t work. I did a little research online, found Elk Grove Lock and Safe and gave them a call. They told me a trick on how to get the car started and to my amazement it worked! I drove straight over and they helped me figure out the problem right away. They were able to fix the tumblers in the ignition and we didn’t have to replace anything. They were so helpful, knowledgeable and on-​the-​ball and now we don’t have to worry if the car is going to start or not. We will be using them for all our key and lock needs.

Only regret is I didn’t use them sooner. They rekeyed my vans’ lock cylinder and cut me two new keys in the time it took me to eat lunch.
Their charge for a GM transponder key duplicate was 20% less than a local big box store and total bill for the service was less than half of what the dealer wanted.
