Description

Specialties

Cool Uke teaches people of all ages how to play the ukulele. Our classes are held in Sacramento. Some are free and some are fee-based. Our method is based on getting students to internalize rhythm, harmony, and melody. With some practice, they’ll be able to break away from sheet music and play what’s in your head with amazing musicality.

Several times a year, Cool Uke organizes performances throughout the Sacramento community. We also have social events that allow people to develop friendships and compare their ukulele experiences.

Our website, www.cooluke.com, has instructional videos, how-to articles, and popular songs that are used in our classes.

Meet the Business Owner

Ted F.

Business Owner

Ted Fong started playing music in grade school. His first instruments were cello and piano. After many uneventful years of classical training and playing in school orchestras, he hooked up with John Morton, an organ teacher who showed him how to improvise on chords. That inspired him to study and play jazz.

Ted went on to study engineering and business. For the past 20 years he has worked in corporate marketing. But through it all, he’s played music in bands, church groups, and he wrote two children’s musicals for the Chinese Community Church in Sacramento.

Ted’s mom was born and raised in Hawaii, where he and his seven siblings spent many summers. Hawaiian music and ukuleles were part of their upbringing.
