Groupon customer. Saw Gabby for full highlights, cut and toner. She didn’t say more than 2 words to me and the highlights were the worst I’ve ever had, plus she didn’t do the toner. I mentioned at the end that the highlights didn’t look great, that they were too far down my head, and she said that was my baby hair. Nope!
After a few days, I called the owner and scheduled an appt to get my hair fixed. She tried to blame the bad highlights on my by saying that maybe Gabby didn’t understand my vision. I said I wanted a natural blond look, not a 2 month grown out look with terrible streaks. WTF?
Juliet the owner added more highlights and toner, but after it was all done, it was just ok. I would never go back to this dump. I paid $ 69 for the Groupon, another $ 20 for lowlights, and gave the inexperienced Gabby $ 20. She seemed surprised, probably cause she didn’t deserve a tip, but I’m not that kind of person. I’m going to post some pics of my bad highlights so u can see what I’m talking about.

Gabby gave me the best highlights of my life! I asked for «super blonde» highlights and they are as blonde as blonde could be and not yellow! Everyone has been complimenting me about my hair anf asking me where I got it done. I definately recommended Gabby everytime. hopefully she gets some business! The stylists really seem like family. it’s an awesome vibe. Overall pleased with the whole expirence.

Took a chance on a random salon because was visiting my grandma.
Regardless of the the actual location and the salon. It’s very small, my highlights are the best I’ve ever had.
Thank you Gabby!!! I have no idea what you did but I’m obsessed! Hopefully my hair will start to grow and I’ll be back when I’m in town for a touch up.

This place is a total mess!!! Avoiddddd please, pooooooooor service, I scheduled 2 Apts they canceled both times, they have groupons out there but don’t accept, they treat first timers like a piece of s**t.

I am very happy with my service. I came in for the first time with a groupon for highlights. The staff helped me get exactly what I wanted. I can truly say Gabby gave the best highlights I have ever had.

If you are looking for a relaxing and professional atmosphere, do NOT go here! This is more of a day care center with the back of the salon set up as a playroom for a very poorly behaved toddler who threw a fit most of the time I was there because her mother and grandmother did not tend to her every whim. I called for information on their services because I saw a Groupon ad offering 58% off a cut, color and highlights. I was encouraged not to purchase the Groupon and told on the phone they would honor a 58% discount on my services. Well, that wasn’t true. They wouldn’t honor the discount to touch up my roots or accomodate the kind of color i needed… instead, they kept hiking the price, saying the Groupon doesn’t cover this… or that. They also had cheap Walmart products in their supply carts… a salon using Tresemme. Seriously?

So I took a chance on this salon given the fact they are close to my new home and the Groupon was a good deal. Adriana was my stylist and she was very professional, and personable. She explained what she was going to do every step of the way — and took their color board out to compare my color and the new color I wanted w. the highlights — all via a Pinterest pic.
She did exactly what I asked for — the only negative was that my grey hair on the sides :(did not have blonde color on all the greys so that was noticeable but I rarely wear my hair up in public so I got over it. I was pleased w. the service, the color, cut and the style. The deep conditioning treatment really helped my super dry hair — so overall I thought this was a good first experience.

Had high hopes for it but wasn’t very happy. Adriana did my hair. She was very friendly and had great customer service skills. Before anything my hair is very important to me especially because it has been damaged by hairstylists before. We did new highlights. I already had it from before. What i noticed is that she put the bleach on top of the old ones on the ends and i told her that my ends are already dry. Also they were blonde so i don’t think it was necessary to bleach them again. I mentioned few times that I don’t want my hair burned. At the end my ends were horrible and damaged. Fortunately i bought masks right away and started treating my hair. Thank God it was only the ends but obviously that’s not what you’re going for when you visit a salon.
She could have used tonner for my ends, and tonner was actually included in the package I paid for but she made sure she conviced me that i don’t need any. I was very disappointed. I really wanted to leave a nice review but I have to be honest and this is my hair and you know how long it takes to reverse damage. Actually I am still very nice because if it was someone else they would go back and make a huge deal out of it .
Not going back!

I visited JS Salon after buying a Groupon, and they were amazing! You never know what you can end up with via Groupon so as always I was cautiously optimistic. Adriana Risicato cut my hair and did my highlights and low lights and I have to say I have never had anyone take such great care and authentically communicate. Seriously, she is an active listner and will make sure what you are saying and what she is hearing match up. Her attention to detail is beyond, beyond! After having been to many large, high priced salons that treat you as part of their high volume production line it was a great experience going to a small salon with very kind and professional staff. Adriana is someone I highly recommend. In addition, I was in the salon for about 2 hours and saw the outcome of the other stylist efforts and they seem amazing too. The only downside is I feel like an idiot for paying so much in other over priced salons for so long.

I’ve been buying Groupons for different salons trying to find one that I like enough to make it be my regular place and I found that in JS Salon. I was nervous at first because from the outside, it looks like hole. Inside, it’s decorated beautifully and has that special boutique feel.
However, looks don’t matter, the people and the finished product (your hairstyle) are what really matters. Everyone I interacted with were super friendly, even the owner’s little dog gave me little wag before it went back to sleep on a nearby office chair.
Kelly was my stylist and did an awesome job on my full highlights and cut. Was over the moon happy with how everything turned out as soon as I saw the finished style. Everyone else who saw me over the next few days, also had a very positive reaction to the new look and updated color.
I’ve been back there since using my Groupon and had another positive experience. I think I finally found my new salon.

Yes! A salon close to home with service I applaud even with a Groupon! My hair was in dire need of help… I have dark brown hair that had light auburn highlights with red lowlights done four months ago. I scheduled an appointment for a cut, conditioning treatment, partial highlights, and toner. Adriana was very friendly, professional, and I got exactly what I hoped for and expected with my cut and color. My 4-​inch roots were gone with reddish-​brown partial highlights toned down to the perfect color. They’ve gained another regular!

Worst experience of my life! I literally made a Unilocal account just to warn others about this place! The previous Unilocalers were right, groupon-​ers are less welcome than any other clients!
I went in and saw Kelly for highlights, and haircut. She suggested that I mix two brown colors because I wanted a medium brown color. She neglected to tell me that it would actually turn my hair red! When it came out red, of course I did not like it but she kept telling me that I would «learn to like it». She told me that if I still did not love it that I could come in and get it fixed free of charge!
Of course, I went back to get it fixed. in but this time, she had an attitude and reminded me that shes mixed the two colors before and her other clients have loved it. When she was done, she charged me $ 20 for the toner even though she said it was going to be free! She told me that it wasn’t her fault that my hair turned red and that I picked the red color… how do two brown colors make a red color!?!
She then called her manager who told me my hair «wasn’t really that red in the first place». I was in awe shock and explained that Kelly lied and said I would get the service for free since I didn’t like it. She also The manager started calling the police.
I ended up paying the money because I did not want anything on my record since I am desperately trying to get into graduate school.
I moved from the city to the suburbs and used groupon in hopes of finding a new stylist. This place completely judged me prob because I’m indian knowing I wasn’t going to come back so they charged me the $ 20. I have never been so upset about a groupon I have used before this place. Please learn from the Unilocal reviews!

What a great find where I live in Elk Grove Village. I opted for a Groupon deal to try to save some money and I had an appt with Juliet. She’s knows color and highlights! She took the time to listen to my concerns, needs, and made suggestions based on what I told her. She really went out of her way to make sure I was satisfied. I did a cut and color with low lights and highlights. I’ve been back since for haircuts and she’s awesome. I’m really happy with my cut, style, and color! Thanks and I’m happy to support a local business!

Juliet is the owner of the salon and I have been a client for close to 10 years. She is really wonderful! I first met Juliet when she was working at a salon in Park Ridge and she was so great that I happily followed her to her next salon. After a few years there, she opened JS Salon and while it is further away, I gladly make the trip — it’s worth it! Not only is Juliet great, but she hires really good people. I get my hair highlighted and cut and I always leave satisfied. I used to go downtown and would spend twice as much and the job Juliet does is better! I have referred a number of people to her over the years and they are always happy.

I came here with a Livingsocial deal — $ 60 for a haircut, blowdry, style, partial highlights, and eyebrow wax. I liked my highlights. The haircut and eyebrow waxing were just okay.
My biggest complaint was that I ended up having to pay an extra $ 20 for the toner. The stylist basically told me either my black hair would turn blonde from the highlights, or I could pay $ 20 for the toner and get the color that I actually wanted. Well I had already paid for the highlights with the Livingsocial deal, so I didn’t have much of a choice. $ 20 wasn’t a big deal, but it definitely would have been nice to have been told beforehand that I had to pay extra for the toner. It should have been mentioned in the fine print of the Livingsocial deal or something.
Otherwise, everyone there was really friendly, and I was satisfied with my new hair. For the most part I thought $ 80 + tip was still a pretty good deal for all the services that I got.

I highly recommend this salon. Great pricing for impeccable service — Mikey is the best! I won’t let anyone else touch my hair ever again. Ever.
