Pawsh Pet Salon & Spa

I had taken my Bishon Frise, Krystal Bell to several groomers here in Elizabethtown who just could not seem to groom her with the Bishon cut. I went to Erica and her team and Krystal Bell was cut and groomed like a Bishon and not a poodle. They are very professional and friendly. If I had a problem, it was addressed immediately. I would recommend Pawsh Pet Salon and Spa to anyone looking for a groomer in E-​town. You will not be disappointed!!!

I don’t ordinarily write reviews, but I have to disagree with Olivia B. We are a military family «new» to eTown, and PAWSH treats our furbaby like a rock star. Mackie (you can see a pic of him on their facebook page) can’t wait to go there and he looks adorable (Westie Cut) every time.
Yes, they ARE fanatical about keeping appointment times, but I think that is fair. They are not only running a business, but they have family obligations (like picking kids up from school) that means you need to be prompt. RE: missing scheduled appointments– I know that they are currently looking for extra help, which means that they are currently understaffed. If you miss your spot, you miss your spot.
PAWSH really helped me out when my husband went into the hospital unexpectedly. They found him a last-​minute slot with the petsitter and accommodated us even when I have to keep extending on a day by day basis. As a military family, we have tried a lot of groomers. PAWSH is one of the best and we were lucky to find them.

I’ve been to every pet groomer in town!!! Pawish is the best!!! Professional groomers, wonderful receptionist, clean beautiful environment. I want to stay with them! !

I have always searched out pet groomers for their appearance. After all, how can a groomer groom your baby and do a great job when the shop is smelly and a complete disgusting mess. I know I won’t take my babies even through the front door. I’ve always said that my babies were going to the spa, I never said the groomer. When my family moved to Radcliff in November 2013 I was so nervous that I wouldn’t find a good enough shop to care for my babies. Right away I searched the web and found Pawsh. Spa was even in the name! The web site, name and services were enough for me to fall out of my seat and roll around on the floor. But the deal was sealed when I called and talked to Dawn. She took time to answer my questions. I felt as though my babies were #1 and she gave me all the time and answers I needed to assure me that my babies were in good hands. Rachel has been doing my Pomeranians and I must say, I have never had them look so good. I am in love with this spa and the ladies who work there. It is always a great day when I drop my babies off there. They even remember them and the specific way I like to have them done. My babies are the same breed, color and size, I’ve had a veterinarian do the wrong procedures on them because they got them mixed up (very upsetting). But last week I took them both in at the same time and specifically ask for one to have pink nails and the other to have orange, And., they got it right woohoo!!! They are the best in my book!!! I drive past a few «groomers» to get to Pawsh but even in a rush, I will never take them anywhere else.

Well, let me begin by just saying that I will never take my little yorkie to this dog grooming salon again… EVER! First off, you have to book an appt. at LEAST 6 – 8 weeks in ADVANCE to even get in the door. I thought to myself that this was probably a good thing meaning they were probably really busy and had a lot of business. I took my dog for 2 visits and each time made an appt. 6 weeks out. The «cut» they gave my dog was ok, not what I was looking for in a yorkie but I just accepted it and moved on… until heaven forbid I woke up late and missed my 10 AM appt that had been scheduled for 8 weeks at this point. I called and asked if I could hurry up and bring him in right away since it was only 30 mins past the appt time. The lady «Dawn» at the front desk told me that unfortunately they had already filled my dogs appt and had nothing else available but that I could be put on a call list for any cancellations that may be made in the future. Did I have a choice?
Well, the more I thought about it, the more angry it made me. I don’t have a huge dog that takes a LOT of time to groom. They could have worked him in because every time I’ve been in there with my dog to drop off and pick up, they are all standing around chit chatting and act like they can’t even see you standing at the counter waiting to be helped. I called and had to leave a message because no one picked up the phone this time and told them that I would be taking my business elsewhere and to take me off of any cancellation call lists. If they couldn’t find the time to work me in and take my money because of one mistake then I would take my money somewhere else. Lo and Behold…10 minutes after I left that voicemail, I get a call stating that they had a cancellation at 11 AM… Excuse me… I just asked and begged to bring him in at 10:45 and was turned down. So you know what? Screw you! I am still taking my business to someone that really WANTS the business. You aren’t the only place around that can wash and trim a dog. And I guarantee that they won’t charge me as much as PAWSH did either. What a ripoff!

Just for a little background: this place opened roughly seven or eight years ago and quickly became THE place to take dogs for grooming in Elizabethtown. Why yes, I *do* love the irony of exclusivity in Etown. Funny, no?
I wasn’t around then, but what I do know is that my experience with this place is classic Elizabethtown: if they think you’re old-​school E-​town people, they’ll do their jobs (not more, not less), though they’ll fall all over themselves with appearances. If not (and g*d bless if you’re military «new» to the area), they’ll look down from their on-​high hillbilly perches, stress your dogs out by kennelling them in a chaotic back room instead of grooming them at their appointment times, around people; and «forget» about actually calling you when the animal can be picked up. It’s like some people’s dogs don’t poo, but mere mortals can expect the high school «I’m a cheerleader. And you’re…not.» treatment from the people who work there. Despite it, really, really, not being high school any more.
I took my first pup there four times. The first time, they shaved him literally down to the skin without any notice to me that they were doing so (I’d asked for a 2″ trim). The second appointment resulted in him being given a shampoo and brushout, with trimming around his eyes, junk (at the time) and bum (only), despite my having made exactly the same grooming request. The third appointment resulted in exactly the same texture as a military «buzz cut,» despite requesting, again, the longest length they said they could leave — 2″ — longer than the first visit, but just about about 2 inches shorter than his current groomer’s results.
I was new at dog ownership. I figured that I just didn’t understand and that it wasn’t that these idiots were incapable of doing their damn jobs because this place is run like effing home room at Hillsdale High.
The fourth & final time I dealt with these horrible people was when I left my dog for grooming at around eleven am. I explicitly indicated my call back number to the person who accepted responsiblility for my dog. I SAW her write my number down (correctly) on the appointment paperwork. The number I gave her was the same number associated with my dog’s records (both of past groomings and his vet records). At 30 min before close, I still hadn’t gotten a call saying he was ready, so, I called. And was told that my dog had been put in a kennel all afternoon because they weren’t sure what to do with him. No one had bothered to call any of the phone numbers associated with my dog’s records. No one seemed particularly bothered that no one had contacted me, at least for pickup.
I got there just before they closed for the day in order to pick him up (although it looked to me like they were just planning on closing with my dog in kennelled in the back). When I got my (cowering & shaking) dog back, I was treated as though I was picking up an animal I’d abused or abandoned and it was my fault that they were incapable of using the phone numbers that they were given (even those given within mere *MOMENTS* of supposedly determining that they needed my verbal ok for grooming — when that was absolutely not a concern previously when they’d shaved him entirely bald in winter). When I, with completely contained angry, said, «Are you sure that XXX-​XXX-​XXXX isn’t written somewhere on your paperwork?» and she responded…“Oh, I guess that’s this number here… And here…” I felt I qualified for sainthood. Seriously. In most civilized societies, I’d be allowed to shank someone for mistreating my family, particularly when it was entirely avoidable, given information readily available to all sorts of folks.
When the awful person with no customer service skills suggested (generously, given her manner) that I call back the next day to reschedule the grooming appointment, and that «maybe the owner would be able to work you in.» I indicated I would need to give that some thought. She was literally befuddled that I wasn’t concerned about rescheduling immediately despite their entirely unprofessional treatment OF AN ACTUAL LIVING CREATURE.
It didn’t even seem to register that some manner of apology-​like comment was warranted, in the moment or after the fact. The owner never contacted me or followed up when I cancelled all future appointments, which meant to me that not only was my animal not valued (based on his treatment), but that they didn’t even care about my business, despite never being late for or rescheduling, booking ahead, paying cash and tipping 20% (at least).
This all played out over 7 months, with their recommended 8 week grooming schedule.
These people are horrible. Beyond incompetent, they just don’t give a tinker’s damn about living creatures, unless they get ‘cool points’ for grooming the mayor’s dog. Eff that. Eff them.
I would not recommend subjecting ‘the least of” anyone’s «children» to their care.
