History

Established in 1964.

First Citizens Bank has traveled a long road to reach its current position in Hardin and Bullitt Counties of Kentucky. A group of local business men met in Elizabethtown in January 1964 to discuss the details of the venture of estabilishing a bank. The original bank (known at that time simply as «Citizens Bank» opened for business in December 1964. In 1986, the bank was purchased by Farmers Capital Bank Corporation (a Kentucky based multi-bank holding company) and the bank name was changed to «First Citizens Bank». The FCBC approach to banking was a good fit for the community oriented bank; the bank retained it’s local board, local management and local decision-making. The bank grew and expanded over the years to the current 4 offices in Hardin County and 2 offices in Bullitt County. The expansion into Bullitt County commenced with a new branch in Shepherdsville, Kentucky in 1998 and was followed by the addition of another Bullitt County office in Mt. Washington in 2007.
