Business Owner

A 20-​year veteran of the corporate meeting & event planning industry, Debveda left her job in January 2014 to start Lumpasugah Pies. Having baked pies as a side job/​hobby every holiday, people kept asking, «when are you going to open a store?» Recognizing she could never be the success she dreamed of being unless she could focus on the pies full-​time, she stepped out on faith, with the support of her husband and daughter, and started Lumpasugah.

«Aww, you’re just a lumpasugah!» was a favorite term of endearment of Debveda’s dad, and he was the baker of the best sweet potato pies on the planet! He could not go to any event without bringing one of his famous pies. He never wanted to do it for profit — his pies were just an act of love. So when he passed in 1996, she knew she could not let that wonderful gift pass away with him. So she learned the recipe, added some special toppings to elevate them to a whole new level, and named the company as a tribute to him.
