Best Colombian food in Elizabeth, very authentic tasting, would definitely recommend to anyone. No liquor/beer is a bummer but food is great

Love this place. Came here last week and again today. Any time I am in the area I try to come here. The service is always so friendly. We usually get the bandeja paisa, and their Colombian chicken soup is also great. Tonight we had the pan de bono as well(a chewy cheese bread), which was oh so fresh. Top it off with some live entertainment, and a lively soccer crowd(big soccer match on TV) made for a great environment. Great food and great service. I highly recommend this place!

I love the arepas con queso here. My favorite Sunday breakfast place. The people and the place are very embracing and comfortable.

Went there on a Thursday noon to pick up food for myself and my gf. The people in here really work hard and make an effort to take care of you. They expanded one place is for take out and the other for eating in. The take out area is under construction. You have to get their empanadas and their sopa of the day, usually carne and sopa de mondongo which is tripe. All in all my gf loves this place too.

Great colombian joint in Elizabeth, NJ. I ordered a calentado(typical colombian breakfast) with Carne encebollada. It was awesome. The assortment of juice is always a plus. I think you will enjoy it. If you are around the area give it a shot.

This is as close to «home cooking» as you’ll get. The food here is great! The bandeja Paisa is so good. Everyone is always friendly and treats you like family. The bakery is just as good, especially the arepas. Every meal we’ve had tasted great, no matter what you order. You usually have to wait a little bit to sit down but trust me it’s worth the wait. Oh, and don’t forget to have one of the delicious fresh made lemonades!

Small place to eat, and waiters are rude. Came here with a service dog, with papers and badge and got denied service because they called him a «pet». Kicked us right out due to lack of knowledge with laws stating they never heard of such a thing as a «service dog». Asked what service was the dog providing because he looked like a normal dog. The owner went as far as taking a picture of the card I provided to «ask around» but still denied service. Unbelievable. Never had a problem eating anywhere with my device dog.

I have been here a few times before, only for takeout, very good baked goods! My fiancé and I came early Saturday morning, this place was packed, line out the door packed — that’s always a good sign. The entry can be a little confusing, due to the take out counter and the hot food display with all of the empanadas, sausages and arepas is right there as well. We asked a couple of people if they were waiting to sit down and then reached the person who was waiting to sit down; at that time a waiter/host came by and took our name and said it would be about a 5 min wait, cool! We were seated at the very front by the window, small space but cozy, and you get to watch all the people come in and ogle the hot food display! Our waiter came quickly, and brought some warm Pandebono(cheesebread) I love this stuff, I have had it at other Colombian bakeries, but Brisas is the BEST! He began to ask us if we spoke Spanish, fiancé — no, myself — yes, it was a funny moment, he never gets asked if he knows how to speak Spanish! Our waiter was one of the most upbeat and friendly waiters we have ever had, he was genuinely happy to be there, he made our breakfast that much more memorable! Starters cappuccino and café con leche, both smooth and good, perfect with the Pandebono I ordered two eggs sunny side up(cooked perfectly, no slime whatsoever, I usually order over medium to avoid that) I also ordered chicarrones(deep fried pork belly goodness) it came with potatoes, but I ordered a rice as well. My fiancé ordered the Scrambled eggs with ham, it came with rice and potatoes. Everything was amazing, cooked well and not overly salted. Each table has a couple of home made hot sauces, both delicious. We ordered some empanadas, pan de bono and«salami»(it tasted and looked like keilbasa) to go, we also ordered a couple of shakes«Jugo de Vida» it was good, not sweetened, had all kinds of ground up chia and flax seeds in it. Prices are very reasonable, nothing on the breakfast menu was over $ 10, all the menu items seemed to be in the $ 12 – 14 range. The waiter told us in about a month they will be opening up a restaurant next door, and this will remain a café and take out. Awesome, we can’t wait to try that out — maybe we will be the first to review!

Definitely a tasty option if you’re in NJ, but it’s in a shady area of town. 3.5 stars but I’d round down to 3 for location. I’ve never had Colombian food, but I found it to be pretty tasty. The place is small but they have bar seating if you don’t want to wait for a tiny table. Our waiter brought out a basket with a roll of cheese bread that was fantastic – cheesy, warm, and pillowy soft. We ordered a couple empanadas, the mini paisa for my friend, and the carne a la plancha with a cheese covered arepas(too lazy to finish the Spanish spelling.) I also had a coffee that came served with milk and a maracuya fruit juice«with water.» Not my favorite, but still good. We both liked our meals. I liked that the steak was thin but it wasn’t anything special. The arepas was a bit too crunchy for my taste… I would’ve preferred a softer texture, but that’s probably how it’s supposed to be. The empanadas were tasty and stuffed with a tender meat filling. The green sauce at the table was flavorful but not spicy. Her plate was way too much food… rice, beans, an egg, sausage, steak, arepas, and a quarter of an avocado. Not much of a «mini» plate. But for $ 10 it was quite a deal. We finished with the flan, which was pretty good. Our server was a major sweetheart. I don’t have anything to compare to for this cuisine, but I’d eat it again. Seems pretty authentic as we were the only ones speaking English in the entire place.

Viva las paisas! This is THE place to get authentic Colombian café food. If you can finish the Bandeja Paisa, more power to you. I get the mini Paisa, and it is still enough to bring home leftovers. The baked goods are great. Best bunuelos, empanadas, chorizo, Colombian coffee. The staff is quick and friendly. it’s always busy. We brought home a picada for New Years Eve with friends. That was a great idea(credit Wifey). multiple types of potato, chirozo, plantains, yuca, etc… great platter to share with friends while bringing in the new year. If you want to experience Colombia in New Jersey, step into this place for a meal…

Brisas is the leader in Colombian cuisine in the state of New Jersey. Their product selection, customer service, and affordable prices make the wait in line worth it. They’ll soon be expanding next door to allow for a more comfortable dining experience. Highly recommend the bakery/restaurant for anything interested in trying new foods from a different culture than your own.

Oh my goodness this place is so good. It’s a small little bakery and restaurant that serves the most amazing Colombian bread and delicacies. The arepas con queso are homemade and delicious and the café and milo caliente(hot chocolate) is spot on. Their main dishes are very flavorful and good too. The only downside to this place is that it’s usually packed on the weekends and there isn’t much space to accommodate a crowd but it’s no surprise that it’s a hopping place. Prices are very fair and I don’t think you will be disappointed in coming here.

Drove all the way to this place solely because my boyfriend wanted Colombian food. It’s pretty far from where we live, but so worth it. We went on a Saturday night around 5:30 and although it was packed, I mean line out the door, we sat immediately. A small two table right by the door, but cozy. The place is so warm and inviting! Brick walls and a tin ceiling made the ambience very inviting! I had empanadas that where literally the best I’ve ever tasted. Freshly made and only $ 1 each! My boyfriend, who is 50% Colombian, knew his way around the menu and ordered exactly what he was craving. Seriously, I’ve never had Colombian food and this place was terrific. I would drive all the way back here at least once a week for dinner! For as small and crowded as this place was, the line kept moving and we had out dinner without a wait! Highly recommend!

This place is very small. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table for Sunday morning breakfast. The wait was well worth it. Love to come back and explore the menu but I can tell you this… The Empanadas are the best I have ever had! Friendly service!

From the empanadas to the bandeja paisa to the soups, best Colombian restaurant around. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to Elizabeth, parking might be an issue and the place itself is tiny, but you will get addicted.

Been here a few times for coffee(café con leche), which by the way is very good. Had breakfast here this morning for the second time. I enjoyed it. I had scrambled eggs with ham, onions and tomatoes. It comes with white rice and potato wedges… very good! I would not be able to eat this on a regular basis due to the excessive carbs. They also give you pandebono. This is Colombian cheese bread. It was very tasty… so fresh and moist. This is a nice place if your in the area and looking for a change of pace from your regular breakfast items. Staff is very friendly, but speak limited English.
