Quality Inn

Beds were a little hard and there wasn’t a pool, but it was clean. Fairly affordable. Staff was friendly and efficient. I would consider this an option to stay again.

I was surprised by everything about this hotel. The room was nice but the bathroom was modern and well done. The breakfast is the normal lower cost hotel but they have a waffle iron!!!

It’s a really… Affordable … place to stay and you get what you pay for… The breakfast was good. The usual continental fare plus make-​your-​own waffles, biscuits & gravy, bacon and/​or sausage and scrambled eggs. The room didn’t have any bugs. Not the most comfortable bed & pillows, but the place was roomy. I stayed on the second floor (non-​smoking)… Here we go–
The ice machine worked for me ONCE. The second night, not at all. I thought maybe it was out of ice, but the next morning it still wasn’t working. I went to the 3^rd floor (As I stepped off the elevator, it was CLEAR by the odor) that this was the smoking floor. The rooms must be wretched (and I only recently quit smoking, so it’s not like I haven’t been in my share of smoking facilities. But, I digress…) the ice machine there worked fine. Plus, it didn’t rattle the floor frighteningly.
The wifi worked the first night. It was out all the next day. «Comcast» did something, the front desk said. Sorry — but when my wifi isn’t working at home, I get it fixed within the hour! It came back on briefly one evening and the next morning was out again. The front desk lady (who was nice enough) said the guy coming on shift after her would have to reset the system. (Really? It’s like 9am!!!) By this point, I just figured that they cut it so less people will write reviews about their hotel…
The room is situated so that as you walk in, the vanity/​sink/​mirror is RIGHT THERE! The logistics are so odd… They clearly remodeled recently. New tile job in the bathroom — looks good. The doors have all been painted. Too bad the painters dribbled all over the new tile. The black paint on the doors made it very easy to see that someone who stayed in the room before me clearly had a white dog — fur all over the bottom foot of the door.
Yes, there’s a fridge and a microwave. Fridge doesn’t have a freezer compartment.
View from the window was nice — and nobody right across to worry about.
Lastly, if you like a hot shower (and I don’t), you won’t get one here. Water was barely warm, which was cold (even for me) once you add in the airflow from the exhaust fan (which has to run if you want the lights on in the bathroom).
Summary: clean-​ish, consider it «no wifi», enjoy the breakfast, and try to stay short enough that you don’t need to shower there.

I gave 4 stars in this review because the service at this hotel is excellent and the breakfast was much better than usual coffee and donuts. (Hot waffles, eggs, sausage were included.) Everyone was really nice. For example, when I noticed that the security latch in my room was broken, the desk clerk responded quickly & put me into an upgraded room. At this time, the rooms on that floor were in the middle of a remodeling project and mine was a bit shabby. However, when I pointed out the problems to the manager, he graciously gave me an additional discount for the room. Overall, it was a good experience and I would stay there again.

We booked this room online via a direct link here on Unilocal on a road trip from Minneapolis back to Virginia. When we arrived at the hotel the receptionist confirmed our reservation for a smoking room, which NEVER came up on the Unilocal options for a room. Flat out there is no way I would knowingly book a smoking room. EVAH. After some checking, she confirmed that this was the only room they had available, the only other rooms being under renovation or a handicapped suite with only a single full-​size bed (which won’t work with me and a 13-​year old). I asked her how bad the smell in the room would be, thinking hey, no one has been in the room all day so maybe it won’t be bad. She said, «Well, the floor has been a smoking floor for the past 10 years, but our housekeeping team does a good job.»
(On a side note, hotels still allow smoking in the rooms???)
Well, I guess there is only so much housekeeping can do shy of a flamethrower.
The entire floor smelled like a bar as soon as we stepped off the elevator. Despite the fact no one was in my room, it smelled like my grandparents’ house used to smell. And they were chain smokers. The smoke smell was intrinsic in the A/​C unit, so the more it ran the worse the room smelled. We resorted to an open window all night.
The décor in the room dates back to the late 80’s or early 90’s. Lots of «brass», and the lamp shades were a dark golden color, which I don’t know was their default shade or stained from 10+ years of smokers in the room.
Cigarette burn marks were the theme of the night, which became a game between my son & me on who could find the most. Bathtub. Toilet seat. Wood drawer unit. Plastic on the top of the TV. They were everywhere. (Hey, smokers, they have TWO ash trays in the room. Are you THAT lazy that you can’t grab one that you would actually set your cigarette on a wooden cabinet unit risking a fire?). There was even a 2’x1’ (that’s 2 feet by 1 foot) patch in the carpet right in the middle of the room, which I can only guess was repair from cigarette damage.
The TV is a 24″ deal circa 1995, one of those large CRT TVs (made by Zenith). So yeah, no HD. (Now I’m being a snob). Many of the channels on there came in with a picture, but the «snow» sound in the background like you used to get when you were a kid & tried to sneak a view of a cable TV channel you didn’t subscribe to.
WiFi was fast, but you have to experiment to see which of the 50+ wireless access points (all named differently) you should connect to for optimum results.
The photos of a room posted on here are far from what we found (maybe they’re renovating some rooms, or maybe they gave up on the smoking floor). The official photo on Unilocal shows a modern, well-​lit room with new fixtures. Not the case at all in our room.
Sheets and towels seemed fresh and had not picked up the odor of the smoke, which was good.
There was almost no hot water from the sink, just a trickle. Cold water flowed readily. The shower was fine, no issues with the water there.
Breakfast was decent for a hotel — make your own waffles, scrambled eggs, sausage, the usual continental thing. Coffee was served from an air pot, and after filling my cup and adding half & half, i noticed several dark brown flakes floating in the coffee, what looked like that film that builds up & dries inside the air pot when you don’t clean it properly, and thus it broke off & into my cup. Luckily I drink my coffee with cream, otherwise there is no way I would have seen the flakes. The cup went right in the trash. Anyone know where a Starbucks is?
Bottom line: If you’re looking for a smoking hotel room for cheap, you’re likely in luck. Unfortunately, no one else in the area had a room thanks to a softball tournament going on as well as people transitioning thru the area headed to Sturgis next week. So leaving & heading out wasn’t an immediate option.

While the hotel itself is acceptable, the breakfast was good also. We were in a room on the second floor and on awakening Sunday morning we found the elevator to be out of order. We walked down and inquired at the desk about it and were told it was going to be out all day. They were not coming to fix it until Monday. I explained that I had a lot of stuff in the room including a bicycle and that I have a bad heart and bad lungs for which I am handicapped and unable to walk up the stairs. Management just shrugged their shoulders, said nothing and walked away.
It ended up that after we moved everything down with no help, we could not finish our photography job that we had on Sunday. We had to get home so that I could take additional lung medicine and rest to recover. Upon our complaining to Choice hotels, we received a credit in the mail of $ 25.00 of our room, with no cover letter stating what it was for. Just here is $ 25.00 to make you happy.

While the price is low, I didn’t expect a Four Seasons. However we needed to sleep at an inexpensive motel and along I-​90. This place accommodates pets but you get charged a pet fee. The free wifi and hot breakfast is a nice perk. The interior could use a remodel though. It just felt dingy and sketchy.

I called to see if we could possibly get a room last minute that was pet friendly? The manager asked me the reason for my visit and I told him we were attending my mother’s funeral. He then offered us a bereavement discount and we were able to get into a room with our two dogs early to attend the funeral. They even had a great breakfast that came with the room down by the lobby. I highly recommend this hotel.

Staff was pleasant. Room was clean although it did smell like mildew a bit. Breakfast was much nicer than I thought it would be. Waffle station, bagels, muffins, even biscuits and gravy. The guy manning the breakfast area was very accommodating and made sure we had a good meal before leaving. If you need a discount room in the area check them out. Not bad at all.

This was the hotel booked for Spirit Camp this past weekend. The hotel staff was very accommodating for our 40+ group of people. The rooms were clean and neat. The free wireless internet and free breakfast was great. The breakfast had a make your own waffle station as well as a variety of continental and hot breakfast options. They also had yogurt as well. Things of note are that the beds in the double bed rooms are in between a twin and full size bed and the towels are on the small side. The price is great though and you get a clean, nice-​smelling room with free continental breakfast and free wireless. I will keep this Quality Inn in mind if I am ever in the area and need to spend the night.

This has become my «go to» hotel when visiting family in the area. Check in staff is always friendly, rooms are clean, breakfast room is a good size and has decent selection. Easy to get to from the tollroad and within very easy walking distance (along frontage road) to a convenience store for snacks when the breakfast room is closed.
