Marcus Theatres

Definitely bumping the stars way up for the Marcus Theatres. This is now my go to theater spot! They fully renovated the place– ticket purchasing is now easier (done in person or online in advance), everything looks nicer, cleaner– so improved. The best improvement however is the new seating. Incredibly comfortable recliners now outfit all of the theaters– and it is a dream to see a movie here. I highly recommend checking it out even if you weren’t a fan before. I’m a convert!

We usually go to the AMC in Lake in the Hills but we decided to go check out the Marcus Theatre last Tuesday after seeing an advertisement for their $ 5 Tuesdays. Every single movie on Tuesdays’ is just $ 5 per ticket. Plus they have lots of food and drink deals as well. We really enjoyed this theater. It was very clean and although it is much smaller then the AMC Lake in the Hills. The seats are exactly the same reclining dream loungers.

The bathrooms aren’t too pretty but overall the staff is very friendly and the prices aren’t too bad. The chairs are very comfortable and the quality of the movies are very good. I come here alot with my family and friends, so far everyone has loved it. I would recommend it.

Love this place. I can’t even go back to regular theaters anymore, the recliners here have spoiled me!

Very very clean. Tuesday $ 5.00 deals are the best. Staff very polite and friendly. New dream lounger seats and super wide aisles make for a pleasant experience.

Came here recently to see Star Wars and the Hateful Eight. Absolutely love the super comfy reclining seats. Friendly staff too. Looking forward to returning x)

$ 5 tuesdays + $ 4 large popcorn (for members, it’s free!) with free refills = awesome
Solid Theater. If you want descent seats for a popular movie, you should RESERVE them online. If you want the best seats on a Tuesday, plan to reserve them a week before. I highly suggest you become a member. They have a station with cards already there and all you have to do is spend a couple minutes signing up and you get your card on the spot. You get a large popcorn for only $ 4 vs. the normal $ 8 price. So it’s def worth your time.
The seats are extra comfy. Our movie was playing in their «ultra screen» theater. The auditorium is gigantic! It can seat 300 people so you can just imagine how big the screen was. My experience was great, the only thing I wish was that we reserved our seats earlier in advance. We got them the day off the movie and ended up sitting on the side.

We do like this theater. Today was our first 3D movie here and wow the sound was amazing! The reclining seats, Or mini couches are suuperb!!!
My only complaint is there should be seat service for drinks and food.
You do need to reserve seats in advance here… So be on your game or you may not be able to catch the movie you want! (This happened to us our first time here)
Popcorn is fresh, oh… And they do serve wine and many beers on tap!
Hard to go to a whimpy theater after this.

I am a huge movie fan. I used to be a loyal AMC patron until I found Marcus in Elgin. They have really updated their theater and I love the ability to go on the iPhone app and select my seats. No waiting in line just show the ticket taker my phone and walk right in. The seats are nice recliners and clean! The added restaurant’s food is far better than expected. Love the nachos and pizza. Good price too. The best time to go is $ 5.00 Tuesday’s for free popcorn for club members.

This place was a real find to us having just moved to Elgin. We used to pay a small fortune to attend a similar theater in South Barrington (iPic) and Marcus Theatres has offered us a very comparable experience for much less money. The furniture is very comfortable, prices are comparable to theaters without the added luxuries, and the newer technology (ticket kiosks, showtime screens) and modern décor really make for a pleasant experience.

Bought tickets on line because they said you would avoid the lines by picking up tickets at the kiosk. We waited 15 minutes at the one working kiosk to pick up our pre-​paid tickets. We were 4^th in line. The issue is everyone uses the kiosk to purchase tickets too. What a nightmare. It is soooooo slow. It’s ridiculous that they don’t email them to you. Never again.
Went from 1 to 3 stars because Marcus Theater manager contacted me about my complaint and said they will fix the broken kiosk and find out why the other is proceeding so slow. That’s great customer service

This is the best place in the area to see a movie. They have dream loungers now and you can reserve your seat, buy your tickets on their app or online. If you get their free rewards card, there isn’t a service charge to buy tickets on app.
The only bad part, and I haven’t found a theatre yet that has this down, is the excruciatingly slow lines at the snack stands. Would easily be 5 stars if this was improved.
The place is also kept very clean.

Loving the changes to Marcus Theatre.
My 4.5 yo has permanent ants in his pants, it’s really intense. Going to the movies with him is typically a nightmare. He’s loud, asks 100? s in a 90 minute movie and squirms the whole time. These new seats have provided him such a distraction, we may no longer be the most annoying people in the theatre! He loves to lay back, and sit back up and then lay back again :-)
On top of the cool new seats 1) the Kids Summer Series is a great bargain, even at $ 3/​ticket up from $ 1. 5) $ 5 Tuesdays are awesome, just go earlier, it’s PACKED after 5. 3) I don’t love Pepsi, but their fountains are on par with McDs… lots of carbonation which helps the Pepsi taste. 4) I want to try the new restaurant… some day. 5) make sure you get the Magical Rewards card. It’s free and I get some great promos.
The big negative is the cost of tickets without a promo. $ 10.50 on a Fri/​Sat night! We saw Minions at 9:20am on a Saturday and it was $ 15.75 for two tickets. Really? Over $ 7 matinée prices, it’s still Elgin, I say that and I live here. It’s just a very high ticket price. We will keep it to promotional times in the future.

My husband and I love going to this theatre and luckily it’s right down the road from us!!! Become a Marcus rewards member because the discounts are a nice plus. We love how the updated all of the theatres with the recliner seats as they’re so comfy! The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because many of the workers don’t seem very knowledgeable when interacting with them. Every time we go in we get a price adjustment for our military discount yet not everyone is on the same page regarding this policy. The workers at the concession stand don’t always listen either. One time I asked a question and the lady had answered it and then went on to contradict herself immediately afterwards.
Overall though, this Marcus theatre is a great place to catch a flick! $ 5 movies on Tuesdays!

New chairs are comfy. Pizza is great. Need some kind of tables though. My wife ordered a cheeseburger and had a very difficult time trying to eat it.

The prices, overall, are reasonable. The theater is remodeled and beautiful. The seats are comfortable and recline and can become a love seat! It’s has become my official go to movie theater. I can not say anything bad about this place and I look forward to making this out regular spot! Great job Elgin!

Very nice set up their. I ordered my tickets online. As I walked in I had to enter my confirmation number into a machine and I got my ticket. And the seats were outstanding recliner seats very comfortable.

NYE went with hubby for The Hobbit. Everything is ok we have dream chair & lay on it very comfy… but no staffs serve & clean the hall as we can still see some cups & popcornsn on the seats. But what do you expect during NYE? Lol… happy new year by the way :)

Woohoo. I really liked the seats with recliners, had a good time watching a movie out here. Only thing seems to be a bit expensive, but hell I will take it for the seats. but oh my god — $ 3.75 for some snicker bites when compared to $ 1 at walmart is crazyy. :|

So my mother hasn’t been to the movies since the 80’s. Yes, you read that correctly… she thinks it was 1987 the last time she was at the movies. My favorite aunt was in town visiting over the thanksgiving holiday this past November and we spent a Saturday afternoon together. We decided to go to the movies for an afternoon of fun and fun, it was!
We jumped online and found Last Vegas was playing here at a time that worked well for us after shopping, so this was our theater of choice! Location also worked well for us being that we were in the Carpentersville area.
The theater itself is quite old. Its quite a bit dated but it definitely has charm. The snacks were stupid overpriced. Maybe this is why we don’t go to the movies anymore? Not only is it a million dollars to get in to a movie but if you want a snack it’ll cost you even more than your ticket and you can’t go to a movie and skip the popcorn, so they get me every time! They were kind enough to accommodate my aunt’s request to butter the popcorn in layers so that earned them an extra star from me. They also have these «cafeteria» style trays you can carry your snacks on to the theater and it even fits in the cup holder and serves as a small table. Its not perfectly level so it was not perfect but it did the job. My one complaint about the snacks was that the pretzel bites we got were waaaaay chewy. Learned my lesson trying something new.
Our feature presentation was shown in the SMALLEST theater I have ever seen. You could probably seat 30 people in there at most! I was pleased because it seemed we were less likely to have a huge crowd of people to trip over so that was a plus!
The movie was awesome. One of the kids working there was kind enough to take a photo of us next to the movie poster. The bathrooms were pretty clean for a movie theater. I was overall pleased for what it was and I was excited to be at the movies with my mom for the first time in my life! I hope she enjoyed it.
