The Sandbox Daycare

Let me just start by saying that if you’re looking at this then obviously you’re searching for a place for your child who you obviously hold very dear. Nobody says they’re looking for some hole in the wall place to leave their kid. Lucky for you, you’ve come across The Sandbox. I had no idea such an amazing daycare and preschool existed in my neighborhood until I started looking for day care options with my second child. Within minutes of taking a tour I knew we wanted a spot in this gem. Each teacher has their own dynamic that the kids benefit from and the children are always involved in something constructive whether it’s play based learning in the educational areas or circle time with one another, or just hanging out in the quiet nook reading a book. Unluckily for me they’re sooo amazing that they usually have a pretty sizable wait list but after the many many options I’d seen in comparison to the Sandbox I was more than willing to wait. Fast forward a few years now and I can’t imagine what I’d do without Jessie, Sarah and Sara! My son, now 3 (he started at ~18 months) and my 6 year old have both loved going there– my son for daycare in the preschool program that ends at 2PM and my daughter last year for afternoon pickups from kindergarten as well as their summer «big kid» program. I’m only reviewing them b/​c I love them so, otherwise I’d be greedy and keep this place as much a a secret as possible to ensure there’ll be a spot available when my youngest is old enough to become a Sandbox kid as well. :)

My nieces and nephew who are very near and dear to me have all attended (and still attend) The Sandbox. To call it a daycare is an understatement, as it has played such an important part in their childhood and development. The women who run this treat the kids so much care and individualized attention that the relationships between them and with the broader family feels entirely authentic. So organic in fact I’ve been the recipient of many stories, pictures, and videos snippets of their lives there that have made me literally laugh and cry given they are such strong representations of them. It’s a cherished place that I highly recommend!

Sandbox has been an important part of our family for many years. It hasn’t been just a daycare to us. They love and nurture our child and guide her to being an amazing person. My daughter is a strong willed child and they have taught me excellent ways to work with her as well as how to see all the wonderful things that she can do.
Beyond the social skills she has learned so much at sandbox: gardening, raising chickens and trout, the colors of the rainbow, where rain comes from, how to read stop lights, how to bake, and more.
Their curriculum is age appropriate, fun, and memorable. Their home is a clean, open, and inviting place to learn. You may see deer, lizards, turkey vultures, or squirrels beyond their property on the hillside.
I have always felt welcome and they update you on how they are doing throughout the day as well as send photos and videos.
It was an amazing preschool experience and I was sad when it was over.

My son started with the Sandbox at 3 months old and attended until the last possible day before he started kindergarten in a different city. The staff at this facility are loving people. Your children are their children. They work hand in hand with families to raise your child. They have a wonderful preschool program, lots of hands on education, field trips to fun and educational places. My son loved being at the Sandbox. It was his home away from home. If you are looking for a safe home like environment for your child, The Sandbox is the place for you.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the Sandbox! My Son was the very first «Sandbox» kid at the age of 2 & stayed until he was 9 (we relocated out of the area for my job) This is by far the best child care you will find in the East Bay. It’s set up more as a preschool than a home daycare. But you get quality, loving childcare. Lots of structured learning, educational activities & one on one time for the children. And bonds that will last a lifetime not only for the kids, but for their families too. If you’re looking for a loving, quality & safe environment for your infant, toddler or school aged child you MUST check out The Sandbox! You will not be disappointed.
