Honest folks, prompt communication, and good for tune-​ups. They changed the oil and did work on the brakes, tires, and fluids before I took my Civic to Albuquerque, and I was pleased with their work. Tom and Jacob have been running this place for several decades now, and their skill level reflects it.

I came in for a smog check. The reception was warm, the work done was quick and within the time-​frame estimated. The exit process was also professional yet very warm and personal. As long as I am in this area Burroughs and Sons will be my mechanics.

Dropped my previous review to one star. So shortly after my encounter with BSA, I took the car to a mechanic located at Valero in San Pablo Avenue and Tara Hills Drive, I can’t remember his name. He did the same inspection that I thought I’d get from BSA, told me that replacing the plugs and a oil and filter change might help, but that a tune-​up was way overdo, which I had him do, and took the car back to the shop that failed me for the resmog the next day, which it passed with flying colors.

Beware of this place had to file a complaint with BAR… shady business practices!!! Wish I could give no stars

What can I say? This place charged me $ 150.00 an hour, (way too much money for working on my classic car) which has plenty of room under the hood. To make matters worst they had to call on a local knowledgeable classic car builder to determine what my issue was, but charged me the full estimated price. I will not do business with this firm again, and do not recommend anyone to take their classic car there.

Best in the Bay Area. They are honest and friendly. I trust Burrough and Sons with my car and my wallet. They never cut corners and they don’t try to get me to pay for things I don’t need.

All that one can ask for from an auto shop is an honest deal, quality workmanship and someone who has your best interest in mind. Tom will have that honest conversation with you about what needs to be repaired. He does not just change parts or repair something that does not need to be repaired. More importantly, he stands behind his work. He recently did some front end suspension system work replacing struts and shocks. I began to have a problem a year later and took my SUV back. The parts were just out of warrantee, which seems to always happen with auto parts” warrantees. Tom honored the warrantee anyway and made the repairs. When thanking him, Tom’s comment was «It’s the right thing to do.»

Since this shop was near our house we went here. When we arrived the service writer was very professional and pleasant. I explained that my vehicle would not start in the mornings and would have to be jumped. Explained that we had the battery check prior to coming there and was advised that the battery was ok. The service advisor advised me it would be a 180.00 estimate, but if its something simple it will be around the 180.00 price. I said ok. Prior to me leaving the shop i also asked him what time they closed, he advised me 5:00pm, i told him great. Around 3pm i received a call from the service advisor. The Diagnoses, you have a dead cell in your battery. At that time i asked how much would it cost to replace, his reply 174.00. At that time i told him to go ahead and replace the battery. Then at 4:15pm we received a call telling us the vehicle is ready. i told him we would walk to the shop, his reply, We are closed and you need to hurry to get your car. So when we got there to get the car and pay, we give him our card and he says that will be 322.00. I replied, you told me 174.00 he then said it took .7 to find the problem so I’m going to charge you a hour for the diagnoses. When speaking with the advisor on the phone he should have explained the complete price with the diagnoses. For a none dealership shop price is too high, called around today to various other shops including dealer, other shops high price was 225.00 dealer was 350.00. Watch what they charge and say at this place

Needed smog. Needed «Star Certification» No problem. Been going there for years now and have never been disappointed. Friendly, professional reception and Tom says hello. $ 50. Done.

I showed up without an appointment and was able to get a smog in a reasonable amount of time. Service was polite and I made an appointment for another day for another issue. The morning of the appointment I had to take my client to the hospital and didn’t make it to the shop. When I called them to apologize and reschedule, I got hung up on.

I have dealt with Tom since 2002. I have always been taken care of, and amazed at the breadth of work his guys are capable of. One day, while dropping off my rotors for turning I noticed one of the mechanics doing a floor repair in a 70’s Ford pickup. He had painstakingly fabricated small curved and «shaped to fit «metal pieces and was welding them into the crevices they belong. I was amazed to see this not at a body shop ! I highly recommend these guys for ALL of your automotive needs. Honestly submitted… no b.s.

Was recommended by firestone to this place for a diagnostic test and some wiring because firestone didn’t have a right tech, so I went to meet Ricardo he got me an appt to bring it in the guy is real cool, so when I brought my car in I explained everything to him he took the keys and gave it to jacob and he went to work I come back maybe 1hour they found everything that was wrong pull up parts, gave me different options, so I end up fixing everything then my check engin lifht went off for 2days came right back on I called Ricardo and he gave me advice and If It didnt work come in, nothing work so I came in and we really brain stormed to see what we can do he took time out his busy schedule to help me with my problem, long story short it was my catalyst converter and before I even bought it he checked around for me for it come to find out I got federal emission so that’s dealer ship and they wanted $ 1135.99 so I was upset with a headache but once again Ricardo had my back making calls for me so basically I found a place online and he told me to wait before I buy it so we can make sure it work, so jacob also one of the coolest guy took time out of his busy schedule to call three different places (took 2days) just to make sure I can use it. After that when he got the part number Ricardo found a local place that had the same part # as the one online not only did I get my part quicker because of him I also got it for a lil less then $ 200 and didn’t have to wait for it to be shipped. these guys went over and beyond there job I been dealing with this situation for a month and with out these guys help I would of been spending a lot of money, and having a lot of headaches, even tom helped out I don’t like shops, but this shop is the only shop I would recommend to anybody because they actually care about their customers and making sure that their car is running fine I can’t thank them enough especially Ricardo and jacob who have busy schedules, a lot of customers etc still was able to help me and finish their work, I only had 1 appointment and the rest were un announced drop ins or drop ins that they knew and they still helped. And after all that my car is running real good no more problems + jacob did smog for me. There’s more I can say but just read this review everyone and check them out you will not be disappointed and they give you good prices on everything they are a customer first business love it

Just got my car back and it rides like a brand new automobile. I have taken my car to other shops and to be honest you get what you pay for. The repairs that have been done to my car have not been inexpensive but they were necessary and done right the first time. Love the office team and the way everything is explained to me. It’s a great place to take you car for quality service.

My husband took his truck to 4 different places to get his air conditioner fixed, and nobody could find the leak! Until, we took the truck to Burrough and Sons. Finally, the AC is blowing cold! We, thank you Tom, for a job well done! It’s nice to know where to go when you need someone you can trust! We will definitely do business with you again!

Great place. Was recommended by a friend for a smog test. Picky about where I take my car because I must leave it in someone else’s hands. Was quick and efficient, Close to my home there’s a few different places I could go but I felt comfortable going to Burrough & Sons. Also an awesome price on my smog! They also found out my vin number on my car and on the dmv report were different! Would most definitely recommend them to my friends and family, and I’d also return for any other automotive neeeds!

Wow! I’ve been very happy with this shop for a couple years, but they just knocked my socks off with tremendous support and help when I broke down 4 hours from home. You really see a person’s quality when the chips are down, and Tom (the owner) is first rate.

Not sure why people rate this shop expensive. Burrough and sons provides great service at reasonable rates, it’s a friendly family business (where do you find those these days?) and you feel the advice you get from Tom, the owner, e.g. about whether or not repairs should be done on an old car, is spot on. He does not try to sell you something, he gives you the best advice based on the facts.
Just had my 60,000 miles service done and if I would have gone to the dealer it would have been 350.00 more. I can only say great things about Burrough & Sons.
