Decent food for a fast casual place, but if you go regularly and know what you want, you should call ahead your order. They are always painfully slow to prepare your order, even when they aren’t that busy. Definitely do not hold up to the«fast» part of fast casual.

C’mon guys, why would you consume raw fish at a fast food restaurant? You’re bound to get food poisoning even at better places, so why risk it here? I come here for the chicken and fish bowls which are cheap, come with salad, and are enough to fill me up. When I’m super hungry, I get the plates. Sure, sometimes the salads get wilted at times. I come during lunch and dinner rush hour when the salads are usually fresh and just made. In the past, they had chicken bowls for $ 5. I wish they would bring that back! Now they have the fish bowls at a discounted price and they taste pretty healthy.

They are very nice and friendly at this location. The food was fresh and delicious. Had veggie rolls with sumi salad. Also the veggie tempura was very tasty.

I ordered the steak and chicken plate. the steak is chewy and not well done… they need a timer to cook this meat before ecoli sneaks in…

Well I get why this location sucks so much… Today for lunch I thought I would venture out of my usual Which Wich Thursdays and order online for Sansai. I ordered the spicy chicken plate with the oriental and sumi salad. Talk about MAJORDISAPPOINTMENT. The oriental salad had that wilted baby mix leaves that you see in a bag 5+ days after opening it. Why would you give a customer wilted leaves man?! It tastes awful… so that was trashed fairly quickly. The sumi salad was a nice light salad with cabbage. I really liked the vinaigrette — but nothing amazing or worth coming back for. Now the main course… the spicy chicken — did I mention it came with no spicy sauce? That’s right. I ordered the spicy chicken and all I got was dry, plain chicken. I mean seriously people? If there was sauce marinated on this — they were too cheap to add enough, because it tasted like boiled chicken to me. Complete fail on lunch. I guess this was the karma I get for screwing up my traditional Thursday lunch. Definitely not worth a penny to come here and eat. You failed me Sansai.

This place wasn’t too bad. I didn’t get food poisoning like Esmond did which was good, but I didn’t order the sashimi. I played it safe and got cooked rolls. It’s not bad, but it’s better than the sushi they serve at the work cafeteria so I’d come back if I was in the mood for mediocre sushi. The menu is confusing since the rolls are only listed by name, but there’s no description of what the rolls are. If you go to the wall next to where you place your order, the descriptions are there. But, they’re not on the menu.

Came here on a lunch break. Inconvenient due to the long line, long wait, and minimal seating. Way overpriced for the quality of sushi they serve. I think next time I would rather wait in the Chipotle line next door.

People like this place to get«cheap» sushi. Compared to the good places, they do serve cheap sushi. And, even compared to the not-so-good but popular sit-down places, their sushi is cheap. Compared to actual cheap sushi, this sushi is twice as fresh but also twice as expensive. I went to Ugly Sushi the other day, for instance, and got 8 pieces of sushi for $ 3.50(cash only). At SanSai, the sushi was much fresher and cost me $ 8(credit accepted). As for taste, they were equivalent. At both places, I opted for the spicy tuna roll, and well, there was no kick at all. Bottom line: If I’m going to get cheap sushi, SanSai isn’t my venue choice – especially if I’m paying $ 8 for only about 200 calories. I’d rather go get 16 pieces and a full lunch at Ugly Sushi or elsewhere(e.g. Sushi Mac).

I’ve never been here and it was next to one of my regular stops so one a whim I decided to give them a try, while the price is cheap and the food is edible, the portions are small. Absolutely nothing special about this place that would merit a second visit unless you were starving and they were the only place around.

This is one of our usual dining spots. Absolutely love their Salmon and Chicken Terriyaki bowls. It is perfect when the Salmon comes with miso glaze, rice and salad. Love how it can be fast and healthy unlike other fast(fat) food. Usually when we come, we are able to sit down on a table to enjoy our meal while watching TV; sounds kind of unreal for a fast food restaurant but it is true. Their miso soup is a bit on the salty side but would be fine if taken with rice :) Would totally recommend this to anybody that wants FAST&HEALTHYFOOD. Haven’t actually tried their sushi yet, will be for our next visit.

The Las Vegas Rolls are the best along with the Shrimp Rolls. I enjoy coming because they will have sports games when theirs a game and the customer service is really good!

Fast Japanese food in a casual atmosphere. This statement pretty much sums up Sansai. There’s nothing too impressive about this place, but if you’re craving sushi, and you only have an hour for your lunch break, then this is probably not a bad idea. Food: — Baked Salmon Roll Special — California roll topped with baked salmon and sauce. Garnished with green onions and sesame seeds. Comes with a side House Salad(with almonds and wonton strips) and a Cucumber Salad(with red bell peppers and onions). Baked salmon was good, but the California roll itself was mediocre. It takes a while to make since it’s baked. — Rainbow Roll — California roll topped with tuna, salmon, tilapia, and boiled shrimp. Garnished with green onions and masago. Comes with a side House Salad. This roll was alright. I did, however, like the variety of sashimi that it comes with.

Our office orders from here weekly and like Jonathan P., I’m not sure why this place gets such bad reviews. SanSai is not pretending to be anything other than fast food so you have to compare apples to apples. Pretty much for $ 10 you get a double salad, rice or soup(don’t love the miso personally) and a nice amount of chicken which hasn’t been dry anytime I have ordered it and it comes with a drink. It’s a win for me — really like their Sumi salad. Yum!

Yum Yum San Sai! I’m such a bore, I get the same thing all the time. Hey man if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. With that said, the salmon dinner with Asian salad, tofu soup, and skewers veggies is THEBOMB dot com. Get the sauces on the side and always pour saracha(sp?) all over everrrrrythiiiiiing. Hot Hot Hot! Mmmm

I don’t know why this place gets such bad reviews!!! It’s really not all that bad. Prices aren’t too bad and you get a quick lunch. You want bad, go to the Flame Broiler down the street. I don’t really think SanSai is 4 Stars, but in order to balance it out against the horribleness of the Flame Broiler, it must be done! I owe it to the people who read these reviews and look at the ratings. This place should be a 4 if Flame Broiler is a 3. In reality, the Flame Broiler should be a 1 and this place a 3.

I used to drive by these chains wondering what they were about. Now I don’t have to wonder anymore. This place exemplifies what is wrong with chains. As I placed my order, I noticed flies around the salad area. So I changed my salad to a soup. I ordered the chicken bowl. Which wasn’t much of a bowl so much as a plate. It took several minutes and I got this plate of diced up grilled chicken. Dry as can be, if not for the sauce it would have required copious amounts of water. The miso soup left a lot to be desired as it hardly had any onions or greenery in it. The rice was hard in parts. Safe to say I will never visit one of these places again. Nothing good can come from here…

Solid Japanese food in the Gundo. I almost got arrested there today. Ha! Why? You may ask??? Because parking in this lot during M-F lunch is cray cray like you don’t say. I phoned in my order and usually I would walk to this area but decided to drive to save time. BOY was I wrong. No parking anywhere. I illegally parked at the end of the row and jumped out. Luckily my food was ready(super fast), not a long line(awesome) and the workers were nice except there was a cop outside inspecting my car. I avoided any jail time though. I got the SanSai shrimp and chicken plate. Came with a bowl of rice, grilled onions, mushrooms, zucchinis, bell peppers and your choice of two side salads. The chicken had a little too much dark meat but was SUPER yummy and moist. Totally digged it. The shrimp was also grilled quite well and tasted good. The salads though… ok. Well, I wanted the cucumber seaweed salad but they were out. Sad. So I got the Oriental salad and the Thai Noodle salad. Thai noodle was GREAT. Oriental was HORRIBLE. Like, something is seriously wrong with that lettuce, the spinach in particular. It tasted grainey and tough. Not good. Other than that, a solid lunch takeout spot that needs better parking/walk if you can. All for $ 10, so not bad!
