The hippest salon in El Segundo! I love this place, very customer service oriented. I’ve had both cuts and color done there and I walk out happy every time.
Kristi is an experienced colorist and knows whats right for your hair and skin type. She won’t let you take your hair color in a direction that will damage your hair. I have naturally dark brown hair and had been getting red highlights and tones put in for a while. I was tired of the red (which had faded to a brassy orange) and wanted to change to blonde highlights. She was great at correcting the orange to bring back my brown luster and adding a few blonde streaks. And the INOA treatment left my hair silky soft and frizz free!
I’ll definitely go back to get more blonde put in, but we wanted to take it slow so my hair did not end up damaged.

I first went to Looks upon a recommendation from my sister and will never go anywhere else. The atmosphere is hip and laid back, with art from various local artists on display. All of the staff is very friendly and conversational, creating a fun and social atmosphere. I have seen two different stylists there (simply based on appointment availability) and loved both. The first time, Nung was expertly able to correct a bad color job and botched bangs from a different salon. The second time I went in I was in the mood for a drastic change and Kristi took me from long beachy waves to a Katie Holmes-​like bob that I am obsessed with. She talked me through the entire process, looked at the photos I brought in and adapted the cut to compliment me personally, and demonstrated a lot of different ways to style it. She also generously provided ample samples of products she thought I would like. Kristi really took the time to make sure that I felt comfortable and satisfied and assured me that if I wanted anything changed I could come in free of charge. I didn’t need to take her up on that offer though :) I’m loving my new look and would recommend Looks to anyone!

Looks etc … What can I say about Looks– Kristi, the owner is fantastic at what she does and it shows. I have been a client of hers for over a year now. I have had a lot of hair dressers over the years, and honestly never found one as consistent and honest as she is. I have been bleaching, and chemically treating my hair for years and years. On first impression, she listened to my concerns, hair damage, long hours processing, lack of time and really the need to find better way of coloring my hair so I could improve it to a healthier, more natural state. Kristi, suggested INOA. A new process of all over color, that is natural and oil based to nourish the hair. This new treatment has not only been the best color experience I have ever had, but also since I have been using this product and Kristi talent in color, my hair is the best it has been in ten yrs! Thanks so much, if you need a great colorist and expert, she is for you!

In August 2011, Kristi Hale, the owner of Looks Etc., ruined my hair. In February, 2012, I sued her in Los Angeles Superior Court and won (Case No. ING 12S00081). I went to her with light brown hair and requested that she make me blond as a birthday gift for my husband. I showed her several photos of my hair when I was a blond years ago as well as magazine pictures. She said making me honey blond would be no problem. Inexplicably, my hair came out very dark brown with bold stripes of blond on only one side of my head. She offered no explanation of what had gone so wrong but she promised me free color correction the following week which she said wouldn’t take long. She seemed charming and, because anyone can make a mistake, I agreed.
Because her sister and children were in the salon, I didn’t want to cause a scene by refusing to pay so I paid her thinking that she’d stand by her word and fix my hair in a few days. The following week, she refused to return my telephone call or emails for an appointment. I went to two other salons and was informed that it would take 5 – 6 months and 4 color corrections to return my hair to a light brown color! One stylist told me that I looked like «the Bride of Frankenstein» and she would never allow me to leave her salon looking as I did.
I wrote Kristi and offered to settle with her for a refund of the money I paid her and the cost of my first color correction. She called and said that she didn’t respond to my request for a color correction because her mother had had a stroke and she had been with her mother in Fresno. She had forgotten that, when she was working on my hair, she’d told me that she was leaving that day to go to Mammoth on vacation over the weekend. When I asked her what her business records would show, she admitted she was in Mammoth over the weekend and that she had been working in her salon that week. She said that she didn’t want to give me a free color correction because a color correction for my hair would cost $ 1,000.
She said that if I sued her, she would sue me for defamation and slander. She said that with her 30 years as a color expert, she could defeat any suit I brought and that the judge would believe her despite my photos.
In court, she continued to lie and threaten. She told the judge that I liked my hair after she’d colored it and only changed my mind after my husband objected. She tried to challenge the authenticity of the photos but the judge could see how bad my hair looked and he could see through her. Surprisingly, she told the judge that she would have charged me a lot more money than my new hairdresser did. When the judge ruled in my favor saying that I and my evidence (photos and declarations from numerous people) were credible, she challenged his reasoning and then threatened, in front of the judge, to sue me for libel and slander.
I recovered $ 775.00 from Kristi which did not include any pain and suffering damages (although I should have asked for them). She never apologized or showed any remorse. She does not stand behind her work and she is unprofessional. Even her salon entity has had its corporate existence canceled and suspended by the Secretary of State. Since bringing my lawsuit, I have heard of others who have also suffered at her hands.

i am blonde and have a very hard time keeping the brassy yellow look away. Kristy and her staff have done wonders to my bright blonde hair. The Anoah treatment that she does saved me from cutting my long locks. I know if I need to come in and get a blow dry I can trust Neghn or Audrey to jump in. I am always in safe hands with Looks etc.

Very stylish and friendly salon and not at all uptight. Walked by the first time and grabbed a price list and the owner introduced herself and handed me a gift certificate for $ 25 off the first visit. Called a few days later & made an appointment with Mariah. WOW! Everyone here is super-​friendly, and fun, and excited about their work. I ended up with the best haircut I’ve had in years! Mariah took the time to achieve exactly the look I wanted. I would highly recommend the salon & highly recommend Mariah.
