Gymboree Play & Music Center

Avoid this place at ALL costs. I went for a couple of months and the instructor was wonderful but my schedule was so hectic I couldn’t take my son consistently enough so I cancelled our member ship because as a single mom, paying $ 65 a month for one class a week was just not practical. Well that was last June it’s April 2016 now and I’m STILL getting charged. Also they shut down the west side location and I’m STILL getting charged. I’ve called corporate they don’t do anything but tell you that each location is owned individually I’ve emailed corporate I messaged them on Facebook and still haven’t gotten this issue resolved. They have STOLEN $ 600 out of my pocket. Their schedule is always changing and most of the class times are when I’m at work so every time I go to the actual location which is now on the other side of town from where I live they are closed.

My daughter loved this place, but after our family had some financial issues I tried to cancel our membership. I left 4 messages on a machine and never received a call back… I finally was successful at reaching the owner after the 5^th try. After explaining our situation he agreed to cancel our membership, and allowed me 2 months to attend the classes I hadn’t gone to in the previous months…2 months go by and they don’t charge my debit card then wham-​oh, Gymboree charges $ 65 to my debit card on the 3^rd month after I canceled.
I contacted the owner… AGAIN, and he said that I was supposed to fill out a form requesting cancellation. I was extremely annoyed because he never told me to fill out this cancellation form in our previous phone conversation… And he refuses to reimburse me the $ 65 even though he told me in our previous conversation that he’d cancel our membership.
Now I’m trying to have a cancellation form mailed to me because we have moved out of state. This seems to be an issue because he told me I have to come in to his Gymboree location to complete the form. Can this be anymore inconvenient?
Be careful when signing up with the El Paso Gymboree locations and be prepared to get the run around when any issues arise.
BTW, this is the first review I’ve ever taken the time to write… I really want to let other parents know how the El Paso Gymboree Play and Music treat their customers after they request to cancel their membership.

I don’t like Gymboree that much since I feel really bored after taking my 14-​month old (now) daughter to play same activities for almost 4 months (twice a week). Although, they said they change the activities every 2 weeks, but that doesn’t help much ‘coz the main activities are still same.
For the previous review, actually there is a contract signed before they charge your credit card that Gymboree requires 4-​month contract (at least) if you’ve read it thoroughly. So, you can’t blame anybody!

You know, my son loved this place. He really did. But, the fact that this business has the balls to keep charging my credit card without my authorization FOUR MONTHS AFTER OUR LAST VISIT, I guess you could say ‘Irks me’.
I don’t remember ever signing a contract saying ‘Yes! Please! Take my credit card number and run it once a month for $ 109.’, and I also don’t remember making a verbal, written, or telepathic commitment to Gymboree that my son would continue taking Play & Music classes until he turns 21 and can legally drink.
Avoid this place at all costs, unless you are the sort of person that loves it when someone takes money from your account without authorization. For the $ 400+ that this business has stolen from my pocket, I could have purchased my own overpriced playmats and toys from The Children’s Factory and set them in my son’s room. Of course, I’ll be contacting my bank tomorrow to get these charges re-​imbursed.
Verdict: Avoid this place like you would Infant Formula from China.
(EDIT: After speaking with the owner, they returned the fees charged. So, I would say that while the Gymboree aggresive gym membership thing sucks… the owner was nice enough to return the fees. Nice guy!)
