El Prado Bakery

I recommend you check the prices on your receipt against what this place publishes on their price tags. I’ve been overcharged on multiple occasions and the store personnel refuses to respect the advertised price. They say they can’t do anything to fix the price cause it’s not their fault. Last I heard false advertising is illegal.

Was welcomed with a warm smile and the person helping me out was able to answer any questions I had about the donuts and other sweets they had available. Get the apple fritter!

I was very optimistic and excited about trying this place out. That quickly faded. The ladies at the front counter are very rude. I asked her, how much do the sweet breads cost and she said they all have different prices, I don’t have time to tell you how much each costs. … I thought that was rude. I asked her to give me a range (there are no prices displayed on the breads) She told me some are $ 0.70, $ 0.80, and $ 1.00 … I was unable to choose based on price so I just picked out six breads. She asked if I wanted to add an additional 2 so I can get to take them home in a plastic disposable tray. I said sure. And added an additional 2 breads. Then I ordered two burritos a chile relleno burrito and a deshebrada ala mexicana. She asked if I wanted beans, I said that I would take a little bit of beans of the chile relleno she never told me how much more it was going to cost. Although, I should have asked. I then asked if they had any salsas in to go containers. She said yes and proceeded to charge me as I was adding on to my order. I asked her how much they were a piece, She said that they are are $ 1 a piece! I told her to remove it from my total. I then decided to order tamales (they were out of dulce tamales) I ordered half a dozen green chicken and half a dozen cheese with chile. My total was $ 30! I thought that was pretty high but nonetheless, like I said the girl was not being very friendly at all. I just thought I would leave from there and hopefully everything would be good. WelI can tell you this the best thing there I would say are the burritos both burritos were very good. Although, I think I was overcharged because when I look at my receipt there are 2 $ 1 charges that are unitemized. I’m thinking $ 1 was for the beans and $ 1 was for the tray for the bread?
The tamales were a joke the chicken were very dry and crumbly there was no flavor. The chile and cheese were also dissapointing. There was one shriveled piece of chili in them. They should just call them cheese tamales. The sweet bread was very tasty but for the price I personally think it wasn’t worth it.
Will I go again? If I’m in the mood for a burrito then yes but for any other item I will pass.
If I can give any suggestions it would be to display prices on the breads, include prices on the menu for add ons such as salsa and beans, and definitely work on customer service.

The wife and I made menudo this morning and were on the search for some good bolillo or white bread, we remembered someone recommended us this place. We got 12 pieces of there «French bread» or bolillo, and let me tell you, the bread was warm and had a good flavor to it. It almost seamed as the bread melted in your mouth, with a nice crust on the outside. We did get some tamales as well and they were great! We will definitely be back for more bread and tamales.

Normally the tamales are great, but the batch of red and green we bought for our office Christmas party were literally nothing but masa and little filling, absolutely horrible. Called, rude gentleman wanted us to bring them back so they could «verify» our complaint. Said no manager available until Friday 3 days later. Left my name and number, no one called. Will not use this business again, plenty of others that are just as good if not better. Piss poor customer service.

This place is a true hidden gem on the far east side of El Paso! Every time I’m in for the the holidays I have to stop by and stock up on the best Mexican style baked goods! Everything you get here is made fresh and has a quality about it you can’t find just anywhere. I have to say there will be those old school «I only go to Bowie bakery» die hard fans but I’m slowly converting them one by one. My family doubted this place was that good until I brought them a variety of different breads and cookies and didn’t say where they came from. To my surprise each one of them where asking by the next day where I had gone to get the sweets cause they had been devoured.
Don’t pass this place up just cause you aren’t on the Far East side of El Paso! You might never have thought of trying anything from here but I’ll say it is definitely worth it. El Prado bakery also makes scrumptious tortas and burritos. Plus they have menudo and posole all weekend but you have to get it while it’s available cause it goes fast .
Last but not least they have a very helpful and friendly staff always willing to please and will customize anything on the menu if your a picky eater. El Prado bakery is supper clean and not all grimy and full of flies like so many other spots around El Paso. They take pride in what they do and it reflects in the quality of products they put out. I’d highly recommend the carnitas torta made on in house fresh made bread or any one of their burritos all made on fresh tortillas…

The lb brisket is pretty good. I like coming here to grab some and avoid the grocery store. They also have barbacoa too. The apple fritters are pretty much standard fair, nothing to write home about.
I like the sitting area, it is off from the main store so you can sit and enjoy your baked goods or warm food without the noise of the customers.

I visited El Prado Bakery since my last horrible visit and unfortunately my views are the same. While the donuts were cooked, the service is horrible. Two breakfast burritos took over 30 minutes. People who placed orders after me are getting orders. The workers placed my order to the side as a «call order» is the explanation I received from the person working in the front.

Excellent food!!! I love this little spot located in Far East side of El Paso. The staff was amazing and very friendly! The selection on sweet treats is awesome and the ones I have tried were delicious!

Pan dulce and all the desserts are good. Burritos are so so, hit or miss at times. The menudo on Sunday is the bomb. I do recommend.

Had to drop a star bc of my last two visits. I ordered a dozen tamales and when I got home they were still almost raw! Very disappointing but I could’ve let it go. THEN I went in a few days later (today) and I was the only one in the whole place and the cashier was very rude. I ordered a torta and grabbed a bag of chips. She asked if I wanted a drink and I said no thanks politely. She gave me a messed up face and when my order was ready she shouted across the floor SIRRR and shook the bag. Handed it to me without looking at me with two fingers like it was a bag of dog poop and continued her convo with a co worker. As a regular customer I don’t expect much but damn these guys are slipping bad.

Everything is fantastic here! The sweet bread is delicious and fresh. Service is quick and helpful. Also ordered a ton of breakfast burritos for work and they were great

It was very updated and clean but the bread was hard and wasn’t very good. Even my husband wouldn’t eat it and he normally eats everything and anything. The whole tray of sweets got thrown away in the trash practically, kind of a waste of money.

Awesome Place a lot of Variety… defiantly recommend to everyone for Great Mexican Bread, Menudo, and Homemade Tortillas… Will be going back Soon!!!

Pretty decent place! Their burritos are good and their menu has a lot to offer! The pastries are pretty good too, but don’t offer traditional American pastries. Which doesn’t bother me much, you’re there to experience the whole Hispanic touch with their endless array of delicious food! Take your goodies home, or continue to the patio and enjoy your bites with family and friends.
Their staff is helpful and nice! Service can be slow at times depending on how properly staffed they are, but as long as they get your order right, it’s worth the wait.

Ok, first of all let me say this place is very nice. If you’re in the Far East area you must make a pit stop here. A good friend of mine recommended this place to grab some good burritos. I’m glad I listened to her because the burritos they sell here are uhmazing. This place is foremost a bakery so they have an array of those sweet breads known as pan dulces. So come grab yourself a burrito and a sweet bread, you deserve it.

Thanks to Unilocal I decided to give this place a try. We took the kids, let them pick out some cookies (the minis are 10 for a $ 1). We bought some tamales to share and two picadillo burritos. The burritos were delicious! They were made in fresh tortillas that alone were excellent. The kids ate some red tamales which also got rave reviews. The service was pretty fast and the little seating area was nice too. The only thing I would suggest would maybe having a for oh ere or to go option, so if people choose to stay and eat they could get maybe some little plastic forks and plates. We had no trouble eating our burritos but the kids had a harder time with the tamales.
Also worth mentioning is the décor, it’s modern, clean and really nice overall. It’s like your favorite Mexican bakery mixed with a coffee house. Lots of clean nice tables to eat at, murals in the entryway and inside, huge electronic screen menus, and really interesting lighting fixtures too. You can tell the owners put a fair bit of time into the design of this place.
We will definitely be back to try more!

I’m in El Prado right now. This is not my first time here, however I just came here to get 2 gallons of milk as opposed to going to Chevron which I clearly would have been done with by now.
I’m clearly being ignored despite standing at the register with my milk on the counter for almost 10 minutes.
Just got «helped»
Johnathan and Gabbie were working.
His first sentence was «do you need a bag?»
If I were the manager, I would fire him on pure ineptness. Had I been a dishonest person, I could have caused the register to be $ 9.50 short and got free milk. If he were to fail this time, what issues happened before? What about the future? The first 5 years of a restaurant are crucial and Johnathan is failing them.
I stated that they ignored me. Johnathan became argumentative, he stated that he was asking who was next, those were never his words. He walked up to other people behind a different counter and asked how he could help them; he made eye contact with me several times but ignored me.
Part of me thinks that it could be because I am not a Mexican-​American and that it was possibly racially motivated, I do not want to believe that that is the case.
Gabby even looked at me and looked away called a lady up to the counter and talked to her in Spanish even though she came in after me.
I tried to explain that I was displeased and that he helped everybody else but me but he began acting quite immaturely as opposed to properly dealing with the customer. I am extremely displeased; part of me wants to talk to the manager so they can fix the situation, the other part of me wishes that I wouldn’t even write this review because I want them to fail.
This kid still didn’t want to charge me and it was very understandable that I was not welcome here… I had to say the words «so are you going to charge me?» I had to ask him to charge me.
Angrily, I tossed to $ 5 bills on the counter and walked away. Johnathan said as I was walking away, «you don’t have to throw the money, you can place it on the counter.»
What gall!
I have been here numerous times before and always very pleased, today was enough to turn me away from this establishment forever and furthermore tell everybody that I know not to go here.

Cutest little bakery! So clean and well designed. I love that the kitchen is open and you can see everything that is going on inside.
We have only come here for sweets. Delicious pastries and baked goods. Sooo cheap! About 70 cents per baked good. Everything is fresh and the owner is very friendly! I was asking questions about the different pastries and he gave me one for free to try! It just seems like your local, family-​friendly bakery and I am so happy to see it in my neighborhood!
They have an extensive menu and I hear their breakfast burritos are great! I look forward to trying the rest of their food.
