Barker Haus Kennels

I take my puppy there every time and not only do I love it but so does she! They owner Angie is absolutely sweet and loves dogs! Great place where pup can get a good workout and play and inexpensive too!
They have a large yard for the puppies to play in and Angie is very accommodating to all the puppies and their needs. My puppy comes home a bit skinner because of all the exercise she gets from there! I love this place and will always come back here for boarding needs!

The owner was extremely rude. I dropped off food for my dog’s stay, yet when I arrived to pick her up, she only had been given half. Will not go back; I do not recommend this boarding facility.

When I finally got my dogs home from being boarded at Barkerhaus Kennels, they were pooped and barely moved. This is always a good sign!
I live in Austin, but like to bring my pups along for the ride when I come home to visit my family — mostly because it is WAAAAAAY cheaper than boarding them in Austin, but also, because I like my dogs to socialize with other people and pups.
I’d remember driving by this place as a kid and wondered about all the agility stuff they had out in their yard. I immediately remembered it when I did some online research of places to board my pups (it’s one of the few El Paso boarding facilities that has a website). According to their website, «Barkerhaus Kennel is one of the oldest established kennels built in El Paso. The kennel was originally built in 1929. Barkerhaus Kennel has been run by the Morgan family since 1989. Nestled in the beautiful Mission Valley, it is located on 2.5 acres in the Cedar Grove Community.»
Its kennels have climate-​controlled indoor and outdoor runs and a large grass exercice area. It is a full service kennel that offers boarding and dog training (puppy classes, obedience classes, service dog training, and Schutzhund training). The family lives on the premises, so the dogs are not left alone after hours, which is a reassuring thought when you are leaving your babies in the hands of strangers.
All that is required for a stay is your pet’s shot records (to make sure they are up-​to-​date on their shots and other preventatives, like Frontguard). Like most other boarding facilities, you can also bring along your pet’s bedding, toys, treats, and your own dog food (they also have their own food they will feed your dog if you desire). Ten percent discounts are offered to military personnel.
It was obvious my dogs received plenty of exercise and play while they were boarded, as they were tired when we got home. This is no easy feat, as we have a spastic Boxer and a high-​energy Lab mix. Both seemed happy to see us, but they also seemed to have had a good time, despite being away from us for almost a week. They also looked healthy and well taken care of. the owner explained that one of dogs really enjoyed playing in the water — which showed he knows our dog, and we were happy he gave her the option to stay cool in July. Overall, it was a good value for the services they offered.
The only two things that I wish they offered was play time with the other dogs and grooming (I always like to get those pups bathed, nails clipped, and anus glands expelled at boarding facilities). The owner explained that because many in El Paso teach their dogs to be aggressive, many fights have broken out in the past. So, they’ve opted to not offer group playtimes. However, this is the one thing I truly wish they offered since my dogs really enjoy playing with other pups.
