Super shady sheisty portions. Expect very small portions when ordering Togo. I’m pissed!

At first glance, you wouldn’t think that this place would serve good Chinese food, but you’d be wrong. I went here with my girlfriend’s family and it was some of the best chinese food that I have ever had. My favorite dishes at this place included the porker fried rice, lamb with green onions, and the lobster(my mouth is watering just thinking about it). Now the odd thing is, for some of the expensive dishes, the chef may request that you buy some food at the grocery store prior to coming to the restaurant(like the lobster). So, you would be paying for the labor, amd you would need to drop it off at the restaurant prior to you coming to the restautant to eat it… but you get some good quality food out of it! I recommend you try this place if you’re in El Monte.

This place has become my favorite Chinese restaurant to go to everything I have ordered here taste great! never disappointed considering the price my favorite is the«eggplant in spicy fish sauce«, «pork spareribs in Shanghai sauce» and«beef In special sauce» «green beans with pork» these I would say are the best & you won’t regret ! ! I also like the«Chinese broccoli«& «Chinese spinach with garlic sauce» because I enjoy a nice healthy dish. This place isn’t the biggest or fancy restaurant very simple place but the food always has me coming back ! I even make to go orders and it’s still sizzling hot on my 15 – 30 min ride back home. Whenever I’m sick I get the chicken & ginseng soup it has black chicken which is known for its healing properties yes the meat looks black because the chicken itself is black feathered which might turn some off but It takes exactly like regular chicken! I enjoy it I grew up in Asian communities eating diverse foods & I feel so much better after eating it! If your new I suggest looking at the little photo album they have there best dishes are in there and you can see what it has asides from the limited description of the dish.

Excellent service and food. Highly recommend this place if you’re in the area. The tea is very smooth and hot, got two refills. Also the place is very clean and has a «welcoming» atmosphere. I will return.

Randomly stopped here and was a bit skeptical. But it was delicious! And they have a big round lazy Susan in the middle of the table which makes passing dishes easy!

A couple of us co-workers we’re on our way to Waba Grill seen this little place and decided to try it. It did not disappoint. Great little restaurant. We ordered Kung Pao Chicken, broccoli beef and Egg&shrimp. It was all good. It was nice authentic Chinese food. Definitely will be back. Lunch special were a bargain.

It’s okay, not great. But it is fast. I ordered togo here for me and bee eff and I was in a mini rush and the food came out in 10 minutes tops. I got a beef fried rice and a vegetable. I’m pretty sure what we ate wasn’t beef. Either the restaurant mixed up the meats, orrrr it was just mystery meat Tuesday for us. It sure didn’t taste or feel like beef. Though it didn’t seem like it went bad or anything, still fresh. Fried rice smelled a lot better than it tasted. Not much going on or to write home about, I wish it had more flavor and wasn’t so dry. The flavor was just salty, I wish it had more substance to it than that. A-cai was okay. Pretty standard and it was fast as well. Not bad portions for a $ 14 quick dinner. Enough for lunch the next day too. Although I probably wouldn’t come back again just because the food was only okay, and I feel like I can find better food in the same price range.

It’s a mom and pop chinese restaurant. The waitress was very personable and accomodating, probably the owner’s wife. It has a seating capacity for less than 50 people, yet the menu is quite extensive for your choices. We enjoyed the dinner over all since the food was not prepared with too much oil, and less salt per our request. We enjoyed the lamb fried noodle, egg plant, and pineapple fried rice. Definitely will return to try out more items on the menu. The price is quire reasonable.

This is a very small Chinese restaurant in the city of El Monte. The prices of the menu is very reasonable, especially for the taste and quality of the food. I have been here during the evening and ordered some chicken pot stew with some stir fry vegetables, it tasted amazing. You won’t expect a lot of service since the waitress is a respectful old lady. But if you want some good original Chinese food with quality and cheap price, then here is where you really should come and try…

I came here with my customer and my coworkers. This place is highly suggested and recommended by my customer, so he brought us here for lunch. We ordered from their Lunch Menu and the prices are great. The portions are very generous and the flavors are extremely traditional Chinese taste. If you are looking for an easy, traditional Chinese dishes with affordable prices, be sure to come here. Pros: Food is great for lunch and affordable prices. Flavors are very authentic Chinese taste and portions are very generous. Cons: There is only one person manning the restaurant, and one person cooking. This place only has a B rating. They only accept cash.

No beverages listed on the menu & Cash only. We got our order in about 10 minutes. We ordered Special fried rice(shrimp/pork/beef), Pork spare rib in shanghai sauce & Beef w/special Sauce. Very Tasty. The waitress saw we were running low on fried rice and offered us steamed rice to accompany the remainder of the meat. I think I’ll be coming back in the future=)

You’ll have to keep your eyes peeled to find this place off busy Valley Blvd. You’d never know a little Chinese restaurant was tucked into the corner of a mostly run down strip mall(drive past waba grill but its in the same parking lot). If I were rating just the service, I’d give em a 2. But we’re all here for the food right? They definitely deserve four stars from me. I had the house special noodles and a side of egg rolls. The dish was tasty. Chunks of both chicken and beef along with three good sized shrimp(yes, I counted). The chicken didn’t have much of a different flavor profile than the overall dish but the beef was slightly sweet, which was nice. The egg rolls were really good. They came out hot and crispy. I ate one immediately(cuz I was hungry) and didn’t pick up the subtle ginger flavoring they had(this was picked up on my second egg roll which I let cool substantially). The egg rolls just had veggies inside but the veggies were slightly crisp and, in my opinion, perfect. Ignore the«B» letter grade on the window if that kind of thing turns you off to trying something new. Back to the service. I was greeted by a gentlemen who gladly took my order and suggested the house special. When the apparent restaurant waitress made it in to work(she arrived after I was served), she was pretty rude about getting me some more water. Also, she gladly packed up an Asian couples leftovers for them at the table next to me while she threw a Styrofoam container at me to have me pack my leftovers myself.(I asked politely for the water and still left a 15% tip by the way. No need to return the rudeness).

Food was average. There are much better options in the area. I suggest driving a bit more and going to Temple City, Arcadia, or Rosemead for better chinese food. And restaurant is depressing. There is never anybody inside, its small and dark with old furniture. I have no idea why other Unilocalers like this place. Staff was ok.

I LOVE this restaurant!!! My dad found it about 3 years ago and we have been coming every week since then. It does not get very crowded at times but please do not judge their food by this. The owners are super sweet with great service and fast cooking. My favorite dishes are: –beef with green onions –bamboo shoots –eggplants –onion with beef –fish –all their vegetables are delicious! –shrimp with peas –chicken with veggie I highly recommend all my Unilocalers to try this place, food is outstanding and prices are very reasonable. The food is not to oily and you can also tell them less oil since Chinese food can be oily. Every family member I took there really had great reviews about them. You should try it!!!

I was here on Friday at 5:00 pm. There wasn’t a single person in the restaurant except a Chinese cook that spoke only Chinese. It was over 100 degrees in the restaurant with no air conditioning… except for a fan on the floor pushing air out of the kitchen. I noticed a «B» rating on the window as I entered. That alone usually would have driven me away… however I remembered the great Unilocal reviews and decided to give it a try… my first mistake. The cook could not make the items that I requested because the menu had changed. He suggested similar items and I opted to try them… mistake number 2. The result was very greasy food with lack of flavor. I ordered take-out, and was impressed with the heavy weight of the bag of food. It only resulted however, in making my trash can at home very heavy. I threw most of the food away for fear of getting sick. It just didn’t taste fresh and clean. I will stay clear of this place in the future. Apparently I’m not the only one that feels that way… Not a single person came in while I was there. I should have run out of there when I had the chance… My 3rd mistake.

I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my Dad based on the all the good reviews on Unilocal. The place was empty. Usually when I see a restaurant completely empty I will turn around and go somewhere else, but the reviews is what brought me here. The service was, of course, excellent since we were the only table. We ordered the kung pao chicken and the ma po tofu and they were both delicious. The chicken was tender and cooked perfectly. The ma po tofu also had the right amount of flavor and the tofu actually tastes really fresh which is something I’ve never tasted before at other restaurants. The prices were average, reasonable. A+++++++. Would eat here again.

I checked out this restaurant after reading all the good reviews on Unilocal. The dining room is small, cozy and the owners are friendly. The tea was hot, just the way it should be. I like ‘hot teas’, even when they are ‘not tea’! ;-) The rice was robust and nicely cooked. I noticed that they get more take-out orders than dine-in customers. Overall, I would give the food 3.5 stars. I tried five dishes: 1) Sliced Lamb with Green Onion– This dish was very good. Thin slices of lamb stir fried with green onions and garlic. Great flavor and the semi fatty pieces of lamb had a nice texture. 4.5 stars. 2) Fish with Hot Bean Sauce– This dish was okay. I usually like the garlic, bean, chilli, and wine flavor. I thought that the wine was a bit overwhelming and there was just too much liquid in the sauce. If the sauce had less water, it would have tasted more pungent like I’ve experienced at another restaurant. I liked that the fish fillets were delicately cooked. 3 stars. 3) Clams with Basil Leaves– I felt the same way as I do about the fish with hot bean sauce. Too much liquid in the sauce, which diluted the flavor of the dish. 3 stars. 4) Mongolian Beef– Standard mongolian beef stir fry with lots of green onions. I like hot sauteed green onions so 3.5 stars. 5) Chicken Fried Noodles– I requested for crispy noodles and got yellow noodles stir fried with cabbage, onions, and cubes of chicken. I like the cubes of chicken since they were fresh and flavorful. The noodle was nice and chewy. I prefer crispier noodles, but overall, it was a decent dish. 3.5 stars. It may take a few tries to determine which dish is your favorite. I think the dry, stir fried dishes are a good start. Happy dish hunting!
