M Motel

Not too shabby, I’ll say. I stayed here over the New Year and was pleasantly surprised by this motel. The reason I chose it initially was because it was a very affordable price and close to where I wanted to go (Pasadena), but you know how that sometimes goes when things are cheap (I was holding my breath and ready to cancel). HOWEVER, even though the property was a bit intimidating, the room I got was very very clean, and very nice and cozy. Comfortable bed, nice pillows and they even lay an extra blanket out for you in case the heater on the new-​looking AC/​heater unit isn’t enough. Flat screen TV and HBO! Perfect.
I also like the little touch of putting lights on the two trees in the middle section. It just gives the place a warmth and the touch of someone who cares. Also, it was pretty quiet. There were a couple people at around 4AM that were talking (just a bit) loudly through the night as they passed through, but I assumed they were just heading to their car in the parking lot. No harm done, gentle friends. And the security guard at night is nice. I needed help with how to turn on the TV (I’m a dunce) and he came in and showed me. Yeah!

Stayed one night in room 104 on Nov 11 with 2 children and had so many issues. The main one was no hot water in the shower, though the sink had hot water, it was reversed with where the cold should be. Half of our family were unable to take showers due to it being freezing. The desk clerk kept my DL, only got it back when I had to go get the wifi password which he also neglected to give me. Even with thick curtains, the positioning of the bathroom mirror meant the outside lights bounced off it and into the faces of the people in the bed by the wall. Loud people outside and the doors were thin, like a door you would normally use as a bathroom door rather than one to the outside. Speaking of bathroom doors, ours had some kind of splatter on it, toilet roll was empty and unchanged.

They were advertising rooms for $ 49 per night so hell why not? We stayed in room 217 which is one of the rooms that has not been renovated yet which explained the going rate. Not bad at all! Clean, no bugs, and close to everything walking distance. We were being cheapskates but came up on this for sure. We will be back! lol

EXTREMELY RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Called a few minutes ago about pricing for a room for a friend and I have never been treated any worse over the phone for simply asking a question than I did from this place. After 2 minutes, the person on the phone just ended it with «thank you bye» and hung up.

My wife and I checked this place out last week. Now and then we like to get out of Hollywood and adventure in areas we don’t know very well. City camping, haha.
Driving in, there is a long driveway to the back that’s a little creepy — narrow, and you don’t know where it’s gonna spit you out. But the parking is all fenced in and feels safe once you conquer that weird driveway. The exterior is in need of some love. It looks like the color scheme used to be purple, maybe? The new green and blue signage they have up is nice and new, but the rest of the place needs to catch up.
We took a long trek to the lobby, which was clean and also seemed new (another thing high on the remodel list, I’d guess). The older gentleman at the front desk was kind and confirmed that the new management is just starting to fix the place up.
The security guards kind of made us feel safe, but also made us wonder how rough the area is (was?). I don’t know El Monte very well.
Anyway, the outside of the motel doesn’t really matter — or reflect what’s inside. For about $ 60, we got a remodeled room. The clerk indulged us and seemed to have time, so we toodled around to a few different rooms and had our pick for the night.
We peeked in a couple rooms that had NOT been remodeled — they’re passable enough for a $ 50 sleeping box.
244 was fine, but faced the parking lot. 102 had musty carpet. 116 was all re-​done and had a hotel style shower, woo. We stayed in 218, because it was nice and on the second floor.
New carpet, decent TV, comfy bed, clean bathroom. They did the single-​wall color contrast paint. Fancy. This place will be nice when all the rooms are done. For now, choose wisely.
I expected a lot of noise and foot traffic — a lot of people were walking around when we drove in, but it was actually really silent through the night. We ordered pizza, watched Godzilla on HBO (hell yeah, cable!), slept well. The dude next door was a trucker who said he always stays there when he has a break from work.
All in all, nice enough. The place is in big transition, but it seems to be heading in a really good direction. And the employees we ran into were nice and professional.
I’d stay there if I found myself in the area again. I’m not certain I’d be like OH, MAN, REMEMBER HOW GREAT EL MONTE WAS?! LET’S GO BACK! But M Motel isn’t bad.

This motel was pretty sketch looking, not what it appear to be according to other reviews. Granted, we chose to stay in the room but if you have the choice, please pay a few extra dollars for the nicer option. I never saw what the renovated one looks like though so don’t trust my word on whether it is better. The bathroom curtain had a little mold, the toilet paper did not have a holder. Also, no fridge, microwave or tv remote controller. They had construction going on, and the motel looked like an old apartment complex. There are many families who stay there so I guess I felt relevantly safe… And I used to live in Washington Heights in NYC and this was a bit scary to be around. No bed bugs as far as I can tell. Overall, I had higher standards because of previous reviews but I just want others to be aware of what is going on. Hopefully, in the future it will improve.
There is a 5 dollar deposit for the room key. 65 for a night

I recently stayed at the M Motel, primarily because I kept coming across ads about $ 45 rooms during the week.
So the day I planned to check in I called to make sure there was a room available at that rate. The man that answered the phone informed me that there was rooms available but the ones at that rate were all booked up. Figuring it was going to be more I went anyways.
I arrived around 5pm on a Monday afternoon /​evening. As I had heard there is a large sign out front with a big M on it so I knew that was the place. The r e was no signs with regards to the front office but it’s easy to figure out. The front office is pretty bare, couple chairs, a coffee machine and hard wood floors throughout made every noise and voice echo throughout. I aaked for the rate advertised and was given a rate of $ 49 plus tax which came out to $ 55 plus a one time $ 5 deposit for the key so the total was $ 60. Pretty much what I have been paying and there was no reason for me to be in El Monte.
I checked in without any problems despite the frazzled look on the face of the front desk man.
While walking to the room I noticed an old microwave on a broken down desk of some sort in front of the office and someone using it. I assume if was for community use. I also noticed minor construction going on. A few men doing some work but it was hard to determine who worked there and who was staying there as there was some construction workers checking in before me
Finally got to the room… it’s appearance does not match what you would think they look like having seen the front of the building. It had a queen size bed, a chair with a matching foot stool, a desk with a hair and a night stand with a television. All in very good condition and matching as well. It had a separate kitchen area with a small refrigerator and a sink. Two closets and bathroom. Looking at this room, you almost forget that you are on Valley Blvd in el monte.
It’s near a busy intersection so there is heavy traffic in the morning and late afternoon. Also with the bus stops there is heavy foot traffic
It’s across the street from a McDonald’s, next to a 711 and many other convenient stores
One big issue for me, there are no phones in the rooms. When it’s close to check out or front desk has a question there is someone knocking on the door. The first morning, there was three different staff members at three different times with questions or information.
All in all it wasn’t a bad experience, I would stay again if I was gonna be in the el monte area

I decided to stop in at M Motel over a weekend with my husband just to get away for a little bit and was quite pleased with my stay. I had heard some good things about it ever since the name had been changed, so we decided to give it a try and see what’s what.
When you first drive in, the parking lot is not your normal motel parking lot as you have to drive down a long driveway to the back, but once we figured that out, everything else was easy. The motel has a very cozy feel as it’s not designed like other motels. It almost feel like a large apartment complex. We stayed in the front section and that was great because it had nice carpet and a brand new countertop. For the price (50 $), you can’t really beat it.
Prior to selecting the remodeled room, we also took a look at their other rooms, which haven’t been remodeled yet and are a few dollars cheaper. Even still, those rooms were nice since they have upgraded their furniture. The big difference is the countertops and for someone who likes their granite, I had to go with the remodeled room. I believe they said the furniture came from the Hilton franchise (which is quite a good brand as we all know!).
Safety wise, the place is very quiet at night and I felt very safe. Me and my husband would drive out to get food and come back. Walking from the back lot to the front, we still felt safe. They have a security guard at night (which motels never have!) which shows to me that they went the extra distance to ensure a good and safe experience for their guests.
As for the staff and management, everyone is quite nice and helpful and I liked how the service was very friendly and attentive. I had needed an extra towel and when I asked the front, they immediately got one for me. Another thing that caught my attention was their branding. I liked their color choices (light green and blue) and you can tell that they put some thought into the look (unlike other motels!)
All in all, I’d definitely come back if I ever needed to get away again. (The M in M Motel stands for Motel which I was told. I found that clever!)

I recently stayed at the M motel in El Monte. It’s right off of Valley Blvd. and Baldwin Ave. It has a big green sign outside that has a M you can’t miss it. I usually stay at the motels in the area so I know what to usually expect but this one was worth the review. I was given a Special deal for $ 45 dollars a night… Yes that’s $ 45 dollars no tax just a flat rate of $ 45 plus $ 5 dollars for a key deposit which they return once you check out but seriously you really can’t beat that price. I checked out the other two motels which was $ 65 and is filthy. According to the staff which were really nice, they are currently having the rooms renovated and wanted people to see the changes that were currently being made. Check out the pictures and see for yourself. I am definitely coming back!
