Dam all I hear is negative compliments all unsatisfied customers makes me think about this spot

Sent my 1970 Vista Cruiser carburetor for repair to Carburetor Exchange. After spending $ 238 in ran worse that before I sent it to them. A 1 Carburetor in Escondido determined that Carburetor Exchange installed assembly plates that were warped and no choke assembly, No wonder it didn’t work. Carburetor refused to reimburse me unless I returned the carburetor which A 1 repaired. The carburetor repaired by A 1 has been installed and is now working as it should. A 1 charged me $ 266 to correct the poor workmanship of Carburetor Exchange. I have referred this matter to the State of California Automobile Complaint Bureau. This company should not be able to conduct business given the number of complaints from its dissatisfied customers.

Dan I have noticed in some of the other comments, your response is «bring the car over» first I live in Lake Elsinore, how do I get a car that will not run right to your shop?. Also you are not a licensed repair shop, you rebuild carbs… I already brought the carbs back for you to fix… even your tech that was working on them said they were going to have to replace one of the bodies (after they were supposedly rebuilt).
Dan, yes I am going to bring a 100k car all the way down to El Monte to have you guys work on it!!! The people working on the car is Extreme Automotive in Corona, they have won builder of the year awards time after time… they build, own and race some of the best and well known cars in the country… The next time I see you guys will be in small claims court… and not just for the cost of the rebuilds!!!
LEARN FROM OTHER PEOPLE MISTAKES…
I have been collecting cars for the past 30+ years so consequently I have had a lot of business with vendors from hot rod builders, engine, transmission, rear end, wiring and carbs… PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR ABSOLUTELY DO NOT TRUST CARB EXCHANGE to rebuild your carbs.
This business operates on CASH only so when they screw up you have NO RECOURSE except small claims court.
I had them rebuild 6 Holley 94’s…paid cash when I picked them up… after my mechanic installed them back on the manifold 5 of the carbs were internally leaking so bad that they could not be adjusted. We missed the GRAND NATIONAL ROADSTER SHOW due to the carbs not working.
I returned them to the El Monte location and was told that they would check the carbs and fix whatever was wrong and that it would take a few days.
Called again the following Friday and was told they were done, they asked if I was going to pick them up in Riverside or El Monte and I clearly advised them El Monte…
Drove over 60 miles to El Monte on Saturday morning only to find out the carbs were transferred to their Riverside pick up location…
Anyway had the 6 carbs installed back onto the manifold only to find that 4 out of the 6 were leaking internally…
DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, BUY NEW CARB instead of having these guys «rebuild» them… again a CASH only business and no recourse…
I cam going to file in small claims court not only for the cost of the rebuild but the cost of the labor to put these on twice and test them, also sending a copy of this to the car club members and Better Business Bureau…
Filing a small claims suite today and will keep Unilocal informed.

AVOID! Be careful about this company, very sketchy, and borderline crooks. Ordered a carb Tuesday morning and asked about getting it by Friday. They said no problem it is on the shelf, but proceed to not ship it out until Thursday night, and STILL charged me $ 10 extra for faster shipping. Called every day asking for tracking number. Received it Tuesday, late for the 3 day weekend, and they will not return my calls or emails. AVOID! They never sent me a receipt or tracking number after multiple requests. It’s 2014, an email is so simple. AVOID!
Update: Emailed some more, no responses. Called back again, they picked up and did not care one bit about my order. As long as they got their money. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I’d like to write an update to my previous post regarding Carburetor Exchange. I recently found out that because the engine box is so tight in the old vans that they are prone to over heating and vapor locking HOWEVER. this does not excuse that fact that the new carbuerator that I got to replace the original (which was not functioning correctly all the time) ran a bit better than the first but has other problems that i did not get to discuss because i was rudly told by this business to not come back. The new carb seems to run fast until you tap the gas pedal then it revs at a normal speed. I have been using it in this fasion. It may have had an automatic choke originally but I never went and talk with these people again.
SO IF YOU GUYS AT CARB EXCHANGE WANT TO BE NICE AND SAY SORRY FOR THE RUDENESS I WILL COME BACK AND YOU CAN LOOK AT THIS PARTICULAR CARB AS IT DOES BASICALLY RUN BETTER EXCEPT FOR THE IDLE SPEED PROBLEM. IF YOU WANT TO BURY THE HATCHETT AND BE NICE, WE CAN TALK. I DID REMOVE MY ORIGINAL POST AT THIS TIME… but you should rectify the situation with me. When you do I will write another post on how I was treated if that matters to you Herman and the business.

In response to Daniel’s comment, Daniel is correct: I did not return with my truck for the adjustment Daniel offered. i did not do so because I called on the morning I was planning to make the hour-​long drive to El Monte and Daniel’s colleague Herman ‘took back’ Daniel’s offer, telling me that, as my 90-​day warranty had lapsed, I would have to pay an additional fee. Given the amount I had already spent to get a poor result, that seemed ill-​advised.
As to my demeanor: I was friendly… because I’m friendly. I have nothing against Daniel, who is friendly, too, but I don’t feel obliged to rant and rave when I’m unhappy and have been denied redress.
I’m telling you: Victory Carburetor…

We sent our carburetor from our old car to get fixed and it is going on a month and a half and they will not respond back or give us a reason why they are not returning our part back. We have sent a demand letter requesting they return it immediately and they still have not responded. This carburetor is from a 1940 Dodge Sedan. It is rare and we need it back. It is not right that they hold it for no reason.
Consumers beware!!! The integrity of this company is in question. So this is how carburetor exchange elects to resolve an issue with a customer instead of doing the right thing and sending the carburetor back after they have been paid for services. Wow, and all I want is my Dodge running again. My Mechanic was right this company is shady.

Mr. Daniel M. It is difficult to respond when Unilocal doesn’t notify you when you receive a message. I don’t live on Unilocal I have a life to live and yes it is very frustrating when someone makes several attempts to resolve a matter professionally and still unable to come to an arrangement regarding a carburetor that was sent to you, regardless of what name it is under. Instead of going back and forth on Unilocal why don’t we try and reach an arrangement before this matter gets out of hand. You have a business to run and I have a car that I need restored. Which you have delayed repairs on for whatever reason by not sending the carburetor. You were sent the carburetor with the understanding that it was to be repaired and not rebuilt for whatever reason it was rebuilt and to this day we have not reached an agreement with your company. You were paid for the services and we have not received the part. Now this is bad business and the public should be made aware of your company if this is how you run your business. I am prepared to go the full extent until I get my part back. I believe it is in the best interest of your company to return the part. Sincerely, A. T

BEWARE THIS COMPANY IS AS CROOKED AS IT GETS!!! They said «mail back the carburetor with a letter that says repair only and we will only charge you $ 65 for repairs». So I did. Then they called me telling me that I owed $ 140 because they rebuilt it all over when it did not need it and then they started making excuses on why they did. Here is the kicker. They told me if I did not pay the $ 140 they would keep The carburetor. I got a e-​mail telling me they will only send back my carburetor if I take the Unilocal review off. So I agreed. My carburetor was rebuilt on the 5 of July 2013. I told them to charge me the $ 140 I just want my carburetor back. They refuse to give back the carburetor. I have repeatedly asked for it back and all they have in response is excuse after excuse. So I am putting the review back up. This Manager is very rude and should not be in business the way he treats people. I have also contacted the BBB. Because companies should not be able to hold peoples property just because they feel like it. THAT IS WRONG !!!
UPDATE WHAT I NIGHTMARE I DON’T KNOW HOW THIS COMPANY STAY’S IN BUSINESS:09−10−2013 (This is what carburetor exchange told me to do.)The only way I will do this is if you send a Money Order of $ 86.17, $ 65.00, $ 6.17 on tax and $ 15.00 on shipping. Send that Money order to our company and that will be the end of it. I sent the money order (21 348 850 037) for $ 86.15On Aug 24. THIS IS HOW THE CARBURETOR EXCHANGE DOES BUSINESS. They sent the carburetor COD September 9 2013 over two months later. I had to pay $ 22.00 dollars more to get the carburetor from UPS and 108.15 later I finally received my carburetor.(WHEN I THOUGHT A COMPANY COULD NOT GET ANYMORE CROOKED) This company proved me wrong. They sent the carburetor in worse condition than it was in and NOT ONLY WAS IT NOT REBUILT LIKE DANIEL CLAIMED IT WAS NOT EVEN FIXED and they still charged me 108.15 for doing nothing. Now I have to pay another company to fix it right. I have picture to prove its condition before and after.

08-​15-​2013 The only one that is crooked is you. I have paid the money for the carburetor. Money order #21 348 850 037 you received it on the 24 of August per certified receipt. Yet I still do not have the carburetor. Because you refuse to give it back even though it has been paid. Everyone needs to know what will happen if you send a carburetor to this company. And I had to block the Manager from my personal email and from Unilocal because he keeps on lying and is very insulting and rude.

My ’87 Corolla failed smog. Replaced/​rebuilt everything I could think of: spark plugs, oxygen sensor, EBCV system, catalytic converter, narrowed it down to the carb which was not spraying fuel down the venturi but was squirting fuel! Tried it to rebuild it myself but no go. Must be a real serious problem.
Ordered a replacement online at
and in 2 days I had a newly rebuilt carb complete with mounting gaskets and a missing part I asked for.
TIP: Ask for a couple vacuum port plugs just in case.
My corolla runs better than ever, no more lousy acceleration and I can’t wait to see what the HC/​CO levels are!
