Bill is great! Prompt response, knowledgeable, friendly, and not expensive. Has fixed my computer 2 times now. He even delivered my computer to me within a few hours of me dropping it off with him.

Bill communicates well and tries to address issues as soon as possible with the only caveat that you’ll need to travel to him in the El Cerrito hills (plus of beautiful views and fresh air). He’s bright, thorough and considerate in terms of offering advice. He does not withhold recommendations out of concern he won’t personally reap as much financially. I find that unusual in the tech world these days and that much more valuable as a result.

Bill is honestly the best. My computer decided to stop working on a Sunday, and I couldn’t get through to *anyone* in the area, nor could I get a Genius Bar appointment on such short notice. Bill came and picked my computer up for me, diagnosed the problem quickly (a faulty ribbon cable), and even emailed me all the files I needed for the day so I could work on another computer while he fixed mine. He kept me updated along the way and dropped my laptop back at my house — all for a super reasonable price. He was basically a godsend, and sooo nice too! Will definitely go to him if I have any issues in the future.

I called Bill after contacting several others for estimates to look at my desktop. Bill was the most reasonable. I described my desktop as having that famous «blue» screen. Bill assured me that a virus probably attacked my desktop, and that he can probably fix it.
I took my desktop to his home where he works. He fixed it in a few days. When I turned on my desktop, it didn’t work as it should. We shut it down & rebooted & it worked fine. I did call Bill to let him know & he reassured me that he guaranteed his work.
Really nice guy and easy to work with. Highly recommend his services!

bill barr is the bees knees. i say that because he also owns and keeps honey bees.
i want everyone to know that if you own a computer and you know about big fish computer repair and you go anywhere else to have it fixed you should have your head examined. i say that with some reluctance because this guy is so good and the more people that know that the busier he will become and then perhaps he will be less available. every now and then i find real gem that provides impeccable service. bill is that gem. to say i recommend him would be a gross understatement. the guy is just great.

I’d highly recommend Bill to anyone who has a problem with a computer. Bill helped me couple times to fix issues with my hardware. He’s very friendly and knowledgable.
His pricing is quite reasonable as well.

Not only did he correctly diagnose my computer’s ills gratis, over the phone, in 5 minutes, but he called back a few hours later to make sure it was working.
You can’t get any better then this.
I will be taking my computer to Bill forever, hopefully, (for his sake) with something more serious so he can make some money.

What a great guy.
I needed more RAM so I called him up hoping he would do it. Instead he told me what website to go to to get the best price and really good customer service and how to install it myself. Of course I’m terrible at twiddling wrenches so after I stripped a screw, he took the mess off my hands, installed the memory and completely cleaned my computer both physically and digitally (no more conduit virus hiding anywhere!) all for $ 100.
Never go to Best Buy. They will charge you far too much and even though I have never dealt with a rude person at Best Buy, a big box store is just not as personally invested in making sure they do a good job the way a local small business is.

I completely agree with all the reviewers. Bill is like a relic from another era: honest, totally reliable, and very skilled. I had a terrible virus that made internet unusable, and my computer made so much noise, I thought I might need to get a new computer. Bill cleaned it out 2 weeks ago, and it works like a charm — no noise (for the first time since I got the computer second-​hand) or viruses. He picked it up and returned the computer since I don’t have a car, and his rates are soooo reasonable… I’ve been raving about him and referring him to friends. Thank you Bill!!!

Here’s the rare occasion that Unilocal reviews are spot on.
He checked out my old, non-​working computer, gave me a fair estimate, and was very cool when I decided that I’d be better off getting a new machine and then trying to fix the old one myself for a challenge.
He barely charged me for checking it out and was extremely accommodating with drop off and pick up times.
Hopefully once I get a new computer I won’t need his help for some time, but if something goes wrong, he’ll be the one I call.
I would recommend him to anyone seeking computer help.

Bill explains clearly what needs to be done and why and then does it after your okay. Price and customer service is excellent.

I agree with everyone else. Bill is amazing! I called him on a Sunday, exasperated after dealing unsatisfactorily with Dell for an entire month. I took my computer to him later that day, and he called me within two hours to tell me my laptop had a worm. He said he could fix it. Low and behold, I had it back in less than 24 hours, and it works better than it did when I bought it, and it’s about 7 years old! Bill’s service, his knowledge and helpfulness is beyond compare.
I recommend him most highly and will never consider another repair person in the future. I’ve already recommended him to two others. Thank you, Bill for saving my sanity and my computer.

This guy Bill is beyond amazing —
He picked up my tower computer, brought it to his shop, diagnosed the bios-​motherboard issue, installed a fresh version of Windows and then returned the computer to my work… all for an obscenely low fee.
I can’t recommend this company more… 5 stars.

Called them based on prior reviews. Bill got back promptly. Although he didn’t work on the type of problem I had (a particular laptop hardware issue) he took the time to give me some advise as to how to trouble shoot and referred me to a shop that he would recommend if we could’t fix it.
What a gem of a man; makes me want to have another problem so he can fix it.

Great, great service — at such a reasonable price.
Bill restored data from my broken PC and tested my accessories.
He probably makes housecalls, but my situation required a drop off, which was perhaps a tad «involved.»
He knows his stuff and I trust him: highly recommended.

Bill is amazing! First off, I called him at 8pm on a Sunday and he called me back with half an hour. This is unheard of for computer help. Even Newegg takes weekends and evenings off.
Second, he was amazingly patient with me. I broke not just one, but two computers, and he walked me through both problems. He was honest with me, one computer was a lost cause (I bent cpu pins). With the second computer, he talked me through what problems I could be facing (motherboard, video card, or power supply) and was realistic about what what help he could offer me. He is super knowledgeable and was never once condescending (you all know how tech support people can be). He listened to what I had to say, what steps I had already taken, and was generally respectful of my intelligence, my time, and my situation.
In the end, it turned out there was an easy fix to my problem. I asked if I could pay him for his help, and he refused. So instead, I’m repaying him here. Go to this man if you need help. You won’t be sorry.

This is for starters… What an honest, courteous guy that’s generous with his time and knowledge.
My hard drive was knocked down, rendering it useless. In searching for an option that would cost less than the probably 1 – 2 thousand dollars, this guy took over ten minutes out of his day to give me ideas on how to solve the issue THAT DIDN“T INVOLVE HIM, and would NOT give him a dime. Just honest, advice from a good guy.
I wish everyone still did business like this, where a handshake and your word was enough, and people didn’t horde information for profit only.
I’ll definitely use this guy for my repair needs on principle alone.

I called Bill last week because of what I thought to be a complete computer emergency and he was literally a lifesaver, as I was up against a major deadline and had a computer that was typing with completely jumbled letters that didn’t correspond to the key I was striking. Needless to say, I was freaking out and having no real knowledge of computers, I didn’t really know what to do.
Anyhow, Bill answered my call cheerfully, he asked a few questions about my computer issue, and then gave me a series of options. He said he could walk me through some things to do and we could see if the keyboard worked again; that I could immediately get an external hardrive to get things working as a short-​term panacea; that I could order an external hardrive and he could walk me through the installation process; or finally, that I could order it, and he’d install it himself (he quoted a price for this last option. While I can’t remember what it was, I do remember that it was ridiculously low, especially since the other FOUR computer stores I called were going to charge me more just to look at my computer!)
It just so happens that the first option to walk through a couple of things totally rectified the problem; I couldn’t believe it! Moreover, he was genuinely glad that my comp was working again, even though he didn’t make a penny in the process. He is an expert, a humble, and a very kind person. I will definitely refer him to my friends and turn to him in the future!

Bill is a magician. I had a virus and after all my CS friends’ attempts to help which just lead to «format it,» Bill fix it right up without doing anything destructive like formatting and went above and beyond. He found an extra 30gb of space on my harddrive somehow and did a lot of other maintenance jobs I thought I had been taking care of. Now my laptop is blazing fast!
He gave me a very reasonable price and guaranteed within 24 hours. He got it all sorted out (and then some, again) within 8. Go to this man if you have a problem.
