History

Established in 1990.

The Wood family bought the original Alpine carpet store in 1990. Through the years they have had 3 different locations in Alpine, a store in Lakeside, a small showroom in Santee and two locations in El Cajon. The past few years have brought many changes but the Wood family persevered and is proud to still be standing strong because of their commitment to customer service, the community and each other.



The owners, Randy and Vivian Wood, and Randy’s parents George and Pat Wood are all proud residents of Alpine. Their business started out as a five-​person operation, with the small showroom and warehouse in Alpine. With their dedication to customer service, great prices and family values Village Carpet’s grew quickly and soon George and Pat’s daughter and son in law, Jolene and Tom Julian, also dedicated themselves to this family business. Now, 20 years later, the Wood family and Village Carpets’ Flooring America is still proud to be serving San Diego Residents!

I can’t say enough about Village Carpets. Tom was easy to deal with and knows his stuff!!! He provided excellent customer service and followed up with me often in a very professional manner. The installer Jarrett was off the charts amazing. He is a perfectionist and paid attention to every detail. This was a big job and as always we ran into a few challenges but he was able to resolve them all. I would recommend them to anyone… you won’t be disappointed. Thanks to you all we love our new floor!!!

A few weeks ago my husband and I decided it was time for new flooring. The carpet in the living room and hallway were worn down. Our pets had taken their toll on the carpet and we wanted a pet friendly floor.
I started making calls around town and was a bit dismayed that I had to leave voice mail messages. Even though I was calling on a Tuesday morning around 10am, no one seemed to be picking up their phone.
I left messages with a few companies before I lucked out and spoke to someone at Village Carpets. Hallelujah! An actual human answered the phone!
The guy on the phone encouraged me to come to their shop with the room dimensions and look at the samples. I went to the shop later that afternoon and was impressed with their showroom. I could tell immediately that they were a professional company who would get the job done right.
The salesman helped my husband and I pick out samples to take home. We eventually decided upon a faux wood vinyl floor. With four cats and a dog, we decided to ditch carpet for something with easier upkeep.
The best thing about dealing with Village Carpets is that they moved fast to get our floor installed before the Thanksgiving Holiday. We went in on a Thursday with the down payment. The flooring was ordered and installed by the following Wednesday. They got the floor installed before some of the other companies had even called me back!
Long story short the floor looks awesome… and so easy to clean!
What a difference a new floor can make to your home! We are really happy we chose Village Carpets and Flooring. They got the job done quickly and are true professionals at what they do.

I have used Flooring America on numerous projects at the apartment complex I manage and have had nothing but good experiences! They have a very large selection of carpet, wood, tile and blinds at very competitive prices! Spent 2500 on lamenant flooring and had them install 2000 in carpet. Installers ran out of carpet and had to leave. They said they would ensure it got ordered and installed. A week later never heard from them. I called the office and they never even knew our job was not done. Job was completed 2 weeks later. Bad internal communication. Poor customer relations.
Also I have been trying to get a extra t molding for my lame ant flooring and first they ordered the wrong part and said they would re order. 2 weeks later still no call from them. I’d rather spend my money with an u licensed craigslist contractor than work with village america again.

Serena was very helpful from my initial phone call, coming in, and providing me with what I needed. I only needed a remnant. She spent plenty of time, especially considering the small cost to me. It was very nice of her, really doing me a big favor. I would definitely consider them for any flooring needs. Jeff in the warehouse was also nice, and helpful.

I could not be more pleased with the new vinyl installed in my kitchen and bathrooms. This is my second order placed with them. The 1st order was 14 years ago and obviously I was pleased with the quality of the work provided then. That order was for vinyl and vertical blinds. I have also recommended them to friends who were pleased with their purchases.
Village Carpets has terriffic employees. My recent vinyl was installed by a fellow named Tim. He did the entire job by himself. I was very impressed with his craftmanship. All of the base boards and previous vinyl flooring were carefully removed before the new vinyl was installed. Everything looks just perfect. I have to admit that I’m a picky homeowner. As I stated at the beginning of this review, I could not be more pleased.
I would not hesitate to recommend Village Carpets to anyone seeking quality products installed in a professional manner. You won’t go wrong with this company.

We needed hardwood flooring for about 1000sf in 3 rooms in the downstairs area of our home. We visited about 8 different stores in person narrowing down to 3 stores for estimates. We worked with Heather at Village Carpet (VC) for our estimate. She was professional, friendly and knowledgeable about the products and installation. In additional to providing an aggressive estimate, she answered our followup questions quickly even checking with the MFR’s rep. VC not only had the best price but was the only company to provide a lifetime installation warranty in addition to the MFR’s warranty.
Installation was done by Shaun & Alex (employees of VC). They were on the job right on time, worked hard and cleaned up each day. Again, they were friendly yet professional and checked with us for on any issues they encountered so we got exactly what we wanted. We have a rock hearth that they had to undercut so the wood would go underneath. They did such a good job that it looks like it was built-​in that way when the house was built.
We are very happy with our new wood floors and the job that VC and their staff did for us. We can highly recommend Heather as the sales rep for being straight forward, upfront and aggressive with pricing as well as both Shaun and Alex for doing such a good job with installation. If you’re thinking about flooring products, make sure you check out Village Carpet, you’ll be glad you did.
