They were here on time and did a fenominal job taking down the old fence and putting up a new one. His prices can’t be beat and I have no problem calling on him and his crew again in the future. Dan and his crew did a phenomenal job on our fence. He answered all my questions, and there were a lot of them. Always answered the phone or called back promptly. He and his crew were here on time and put a beautiful fence for us. They the left the place looking great. If I could give 6 stars, I would. We obtained 5 different quotes from different fence companies. The Fence Dr. was very reasonable.

Wonderful experience. Dan is so attentive. His crew was professional and self-​sufficient. They arrived on time and were done very quickly. I had a 40 linear foot back yard fence put in and the old one removed. They cleaned everything up and left the space immaculate. Cannot recommend them enough. :)

The Fence Dr. was a real pleasure to deal with. Our job was small — a double side gate in vinyl so it was a half day job. Two young men constructed the gate on site and dealt efficiently and effectively with minor issues that came up. It was a good experience and the gate looks terrific.

Dan is the best. He is knowledgeable and cares about his work. He gave us a very competitive estimate and did a knock out job for us. We even had an issue with the stain after the boards shrunk a little bit leaving some of the boards exposed and Dan came back out no questions asked and put a another coat on free of charge which more than fixed the problem. This is what I look for in a contractor: affordable, knowledgeable, and backs his work up with great customer service, even after he had already been paid. He was also awesome with my 5 year old son and let him be his assistant throughout the whole job, he even paid my son 3 dollars at the end of the job for his «labor» lol. This guy is a pro, and just a great guy. My wife was the one who dealt with him most of the time because I was at work and he treated her with respect and care. We couldn’t be happier with the final product and get compliments on our fence all the time. I would reccomend Dan the Fence Doctor to any of my friends and family!

Best value by far! High quality workmanship and attention to detail. We had a large section of our yard cedar fenced in. Dan was very responsive to all of our questions and took the time to help us decide on what directions would work best for our home. No pushy sales and a straight shooter. But the most impressive part… Dan had replaced a section of our fence a few years ago for the previous owners. Dan asked if it was ok if he went ahead and check out the older portion of the fence and ensure the gates were all working properly. Seriously, if he didn’t care about the quality of work and maintaining customer satisfaction he could have just put up the new fence and left. Instead he took the extra step and made sure the entire fence looked great and the gates all operated properly. We will be using Dan for other projects as well… More to come. The Best! I got bids from both the major national hardware chains as well as 3 local fence companies. Something kept me from pulling the trigger until I saw a new fence at a neighbors house that was clearly superior, they referred me to Dan the Fence Dr. Once I met with Dan and he explained his construction method (each vinyls post built on a center steel post) which was different than any other bid I received, I signed. We had 340 feet of vinyl fence put up. They tore down the old fence and put the new one up by three the next day. The only reason you knew they were here is because there was a new fence. Excellent! I would recommend them for any job you have, big or small. It’s straight and beautiful.

After interviewing several companies with «A» listings on Angie’s List, we decided to use The Fence Doctor. Unlike other companies, Dan, the owner, was very responsive in providing a detailed quote, a competitive price and an installation date. He showed up on time and he and his crew did an excellent job with the installation and clean-​up. As a result of his exceptional work, several of our neighbors have also hired Dan to replace their fences. Dan is on our «preferred vendor list» for our homeowners association as the result of his excellent work. A+++ rating.

Excellent experience with Dan the Fence Doctor. I appreciated his excellent price, patience while I negotiated fence options with the neighbors, and then excellent execution of the contract. His crew was prompt and polite, and they all did a great job. I was also really pleased to see Dan onsite making sure everything went according to plan. I would highly recommend.

After having a good experience with Dan replacing the fence on one side of our property (it fell down), we had him come out later in the year to do the other side. Like the first time he provided a great price and installed the exact style of fence we needed (the trim needed to match my neighbor’s other side fence). Unlike last time where he had some labor issues that caused the work to take longer than expected, this time his team arrived early in the morning and was finished by mid-​afternoon. They left the place so clean that you wouldn’t have know they were there. I have since referred Dan to a friend who had him replace a metal fence, and even my mother-​in-​law. They are my «go to» guys for fencing now.

Dan has a lot more excellent reviews on Angies List (at the time only one on Unilocal). The reviews mentioned a type of vinyl fence called DuraMax. After researching, decided this was the brand I wanted and very few installers provide it. Several interviews later we hired Dan for our extensive new fence installation project: 200 ft Fortress wrought iron 5 ft tall fence, 200 ft Duramax vinyl privacy 6 ft tall fence, 500 ft black chain link 5 ft tall fence and 2 gates. He carries lots of other options too. The Fence DR performed far and away better than anticipated. Please note: DR stands for Dan’s initials and is a clever marketing tool. He does not Doctor or «repair» old fences. Dan is a master of designing, advising and installing NEW fences. The Fence Dr’s high quality team is so amazing that there is a wait list; well worth it to get on it and stand in line. Most of his jobs are one day; mine was four, so that tells you the extent that we trusted our property to his artistic craftmanship. From the very start he provided great advice on what to install and how to design it on our challenging property. We had a lot of fence prep work to complete before he could start and he was very patient. When the day arrived 6 months later, Dan personally oversaw each post hole that was dug. His very qualified team proceeded to carry out the plan, and Dan was involved in and out. His team operated like a dance team each one knowing their function and duty and sweeping in and out. The final day was the treasured Dura Max install and Dan personally cut and installed the entire fence during Santa Ana winds. We are so pleased with the final result, the entire team, the value added to our property for the price. Don’t call Dan if you have a simple repair, a tiny job, a small wreck. DO call Dan for top notch quality fence work that will endure and add value to your property. Lastly I would add it is up to the homeowner’s responsibility to prepare for install: get yard surveyed, clear brush, prep land, check with your local fence codes, etc. Beautiful fence!

Do NOT have a fence built by this company.
They are unprofessional, use substandard materials, have poor workmanship, and they damage your property. We have been trying to get them to fix their mistakes for over six months now with no luck.
I wanted a large wooden fence around our property and chose Dan the Fence Doctor just over a year ago. I now regret that decision.
First, Dan removed the old chain-​link fence. However, he left the old footings in on the bank where they were clearly visible. The new fence was built behind and on top of these post footings. I had to remove the most conspicuous post stubs and footings myself.
Dan recommended that a section of fence be built on existing steel posts and concrete footing. We took his advice and he built a four foot fence plus a picket top using these posts for support. While this seemed to work initially, it turns out his professional opinion was wrong: After less than a year the fence has cracked the concrete all along that side of the property.
We also contracted Dan to stain the fence. This was a disaster. They first used too little stain on the fence, trying to spread it too thin. This made it appear patchy and non-​uniform, with areas where dribbles of stain had ran down. Asked about this, Dan didn’t seem to see the problem, and we had to point out to the fence professional how a fence should be stained. This was fixed after a month of waiting. The worst problem was that during the spraying of the fence, they didn’t cover anything. The WHOLE side of one house got a spray of chestnut fence stain — including all our windows and everything that was temporarily stored at that side of the house. My lawnmower is now brown. The concrete (now cracked) got a good stain too. They attempted to fix this by scrubbing the concrete clean. It didn’t work. They didn’t offer to help fix the damage they did to the windows and stucco, etc.
The wood this business uses is of very poor quality. Many boards have split and/​or are warped. One of the 2×4’s used to make a gate has warped and now the gate does not close flush and it looks bad. The fence boards have shrunk considerably and have large gaps in between. Some shrinkage in expected, but not to this extent.
Finally, one of the footings on the fence is loose. We have a long stretch of six-​foot tall fence and one post has sunk, giving the fence a sagging appearance. You can hold the top of the fence and wobble this whole section. This happened after six months. Other footings now seem suspiciously shallow. Making sound footings is the most basic job of a fence business. They cannot even manage this.
Dan the Fence Dr. is not worth the time and stress.

After seeing work that he had completed on a neighbors house, Dan (the owner) came out to give me an estimate, he worked with me and my neighbor to find the the right fence for us, he also provided different samples of vinyl fence to help make the decision easier, he was even able to accommodate a special request by the neighbor to keep her old wood gate and attach it to the vinyl (NEW) fence, he was able to complete a big fence in a day which included removing bushes and a tree, his crew worked fast and hard and cleaned up there mess and hauled it all away, I believe he is honest as well as fair priced ! As soon as we can get the neighbors on the other side to agree on a fence, we will be using the Fence Dr.

After contacting a fence contractor, Outdoor Living Company (Gary Squibb) recommended by a trusted friend, after several weeks he said he didn’t have time to do my fence and recommended the Fence Dr. They came out promptly and told me they could do the same fence and price as offered by Gary plus they would remove my old fence. Gary’s estimate called for «pressure lumber and pickets». I told Gary I wanted a fence similar to the one being replaced which was over 35 years old and told Dan Rynkofs, owner of Fence Dr. the same thing. I expected the wood would be approximately the same. This did not happen. The wood was subgrade, uneven, splintered and split. The workmanship by the Fence Dr matched the wood… not at all up to professional standards. They were fast … good… NO! Make sure you know what you are getting. By the way, I’m a widowed Senior … take advantage of me … yes, they did!
