Stars & Stripes Army Navy Surplus Store

So from the outside the store doesn’t look that big but once you get inside it’s huge. As you walk in the front counter is on the left with all the employees who are very helpful for a surplus store. I really don’t know where to start because this place is packed with goodies from camping gear to boots and knives.
One of my favorite section is where they have the peacoats because they are so affordable and very warm. You can find just about anything in here and if you have an hour or so you can find some great deals. I’m sure you will see a couple of replica firearms but they are not for sale so don’t even ask.
You have to stop by and check it out because the prices are affordable and maybe even negotiable. Just the size of this place full of gear is a sight to see and they have helpful employees.

This place is the best! Was in SD and stopped by to check out what they had. Ended up buying a pea coat and a Gore-​Tex jacket. I’m A 46 long and to find things that fit sometimes can be a real challenge! Picked up a couple of other odds and ends too. My buddy bought some stuff as well.
We had so much fun we ended up coming back twice!
This place again is the very best they have everything you could possibly need want or desire. You need to plan on staying a while because there’s so much to look at everything is absolutely first quality and the prices can’t be beat.
One great service they offer is if your looking for a special item and it’s not there they’ll find it and ship it. :-)

This is a well deserved 5 start review in my case. I love the store, i love the owners, i like the employees. But I am mainly leaving this review to welcome people into this amazing establishment.
Don and his son Ron own the place, and everytime my girl and i walk through the doors, we are greeted with a smile. I then get stuck perusing through their everlasting inventory for hours. Prices are more than fair, they will even price match amazon. They will also special order any rare item you have been searching for.
So i ask you, when you walk in the door, tell them Steve sent you.

LOVE these guys — genuinely helpful, practical minded (they’re smart and enjoy problem solving, so do ask for help if you’re stuck — they’re good, they’re not just trying to get people to buy stuff), and the prices are reasonable. they’re twenty miles away from me but well worth the trip, I’m in there a lot.

A lot of cool stuff I wish I could find a use for. Some of the things we asked about seemed insanely over priced but I also noticed some really good deals. I guess it is hit and miss depending on what you’re looking for.

I always wanted to go in this place whenever I went to Harbor Freight next door. I am very glad I did. I went in a few times prior to this but, this time was the best. I’m putting together my bug out bag and figured this would be a good place to go since there are 2 stores that probably have what I am looking for in them. A gentleman named Rob greeted me at the door (very polite). I told him I had a list of things I was looking for and he escorted me all over the store to each and every product (I told him I felt bad making him walk all over the place but he had a good sense of humor about it). He gave me an EXACT in depth description of every single product I had questions about. He gave me advice on what to do to make my para cord last longer, showed me several items I never would have thought to include in my first aid kit AND was nice enough to give me a discount since I was purchasing so much. I really like that the store is big and you have a lot to see. I think it helps open your mind to things you may not have considered.
They have MORE than enough for what you are looking for and if they are out of something, it’s only because people have been buying those items up or the distributor was late.
If you go there, ask for Rob. HE is customer oriented, polite, knowledgeable and went above and beyond helping me.

I came here looking for stuff from condor since I got a condor tac vest for christmas. I went to the other spot in el cajon, and they had what I was looking for but not in the color I wanted. I asked the staff if they had another color, they said no and that was it. So I mosey on down here since Stars and stripes is a condor dealer also. They did not have what I wanted, but I was approached by Rob and asked me what I was looking for. He pulled out his Condor catalog priced me out some items and ordered what I was looking for, now that is customer service. if you need help, ask rob, just let his staff do their work. he also clued me in to some sales he was having and I ended up getting a desert marpat combat shirt for 18 bucks. this will be the place to stop in first if I need anything. if you want specialized come here, if you need selection go to the other spot.

This store is amazing! I went to the store to return two items my daughter purchased that were never used. I had what I thought was the receipt for those items, but when I spoke to the kind clerk behind the counter I was told that the items were not from that store. He believed they were purchased at their competitor’s store. After he spoke with the manager, he proceeded to refund me cash for the cost of the items even though they were from another store! I was so pleasantly surprised and grateful for such first-​class customer service!

This is a solid military surplus store. They don’t have as much unique and used military gear as G I Joes down the block, but they do have a lot of stuff. This place carries a lot of new tactical clothes not just the generic surplus supplies, last time I was in there I picked up a BFA and several lightly used TAG pouches at a great deal. When I am in the area I always stop by.

It’s an okay store if your used to squeezing in through aisles kind of like a hoarders house. I almost left because of all the tweekers in the front and inadequate parking space. I only rated them a two because the selection was wide but could be improved. The gentlemen working at the front seemed too busy in his conversation to acknowledge me until he saw me leaving. He asked why I left and I said because I couldn’t find what I was looking for. He referred me rudely to a fishing store but instead I just went to G. I Joes in El Cajon on El Cajon Blvd & Wilson. Their staff are friendlier and more professional anyways.

Plan on being in here a while. They’ve got lots of cool stuff to look at. This place is packed with items, both old and new, but the prices weren’t really what I expected from a «surplus» store. However, if you went in knowing exactly what you were looking for, you could find that diamond in the rough. They’ve got everything from old patches and jackets to duffle bags and berets. Some parts of the store were organized with shelf tags and labels. Other parts looked like stuff strewn about at a flea market. Eventhough the store front is on Main Street, you park and enter through the back.

Whats not to like about a surplus store. If the place wasn’t kinda dirty and the help a bit sketchy, I would be disappointed. The best part about surplus stores is that you never realize you need a (insert totally cool item here) until you see it in the store. Plus this place is right next door to one of my other favorite places that sells stuff i didn’t know i needed, Harbor freight tools. So its always like a extra bonus when i go to either place.

One of the better military surplus stores in the San Diego area. They are a lot cheaper then the other store in El Cajon.

Right to the point… If you need it, want it or just have to have it… they have it. Great place to check out some camping, hiking and gear of all sorts.

Went in yesterday looking for a specific item, and once I found the product, right away might I add, I continued to wander the store just taking it all in. Staff is very helpful, and inventory and selection is huge! Will definitely be returning!

For brick and mortar suplus stores, I would come here. Prices are very reasonable and they have alot of used gear that is being currently used. I have bought an insane amount of gear from these guys, and they are more than willing to give a price that both parties can be happy with. I bought a mystery ranch pack there for a very good price. Now my wife has an awesome bugout bag! The people there are pretty helpful. Definitely recommend!

Bad Service, I don’t recommend. Disoriented and not helpful.
My friend and I were here and were told to leave right at closing time by the Rude Manager. Helpful advice: Never tell your customers to Leave, especially if they’re paying ones.

This place is great, they have damn near anything you could want, finished off with great customer service! Today we brought in a 1400 series Pelican Case and were able to ‘trade’ it for a Cat tourniquet, a Ka-​Bar Gila pocket knife, and two full MRE’s. Awesome deal if you ask me!

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! I have been there a couple time because is next door to Harbor Freight and they are always very cool and helpful. This time I took my son in so he could get a Halloween costume, both guys were great with kids and walked us around and showed us what was on sale and even showed us the dressing room so my son could try all his military stuff on. They also gave us tips on taking care of our clothing, very nice guys. Thank you.
