Professional Family Dental

They are the WORST. Don’t every go to this dental office. My appointment was at 1 o’clock and I was waiting for an entire 1 hour to get in. After that Chaldean lady or wherever she is from that was taking the X-​rays was very slow and super rude. She had no acknowledge of how to clean my teeth properly. I do NOT recommend it to anyone. The workers are horrible at service. Don’t ever waste your money in there.

I had a partial that was held in place by wire clips. One day it broke, so I went lookng for a Dentist to fix it It is not unreasonable to expect that dentures, either partial or complete, are made to look just like your natural teeth. It is also not unreasonable to expect that the denture’s teeth should be smooth, as your tongue goes over them. As should the gumline of the plate. The denture should not be so porous that it collects everything you eat in visible quantities in between and on the surface of the teeth and gumline. These are only some of the problems that caused me to decline to continue to have «Professional Family Dental» as my Dentist of record.
I would like to mention that the admin. staff at this office is extremely professional, helpful, and nice. Dr. Peng seems to be skilled in dentistry, and her demeanor is very pleasant. The worst thing I will say about her is that she chose to share her office with a Dr. Burgett, which was such a poor choice it may be her undoing.
It is probably important to mention that having to get dentures was upsetting and traumatic to me. Extractions were something I was very nervous and fearful about. Dr. Burgett was assigned to pull them out, and everything about it went badly. I now include part of the letter I sent to Dr. Peng about my experience there.
«…With regard to Dr. Burgett, who started doing my extractions on November 14 th, I cannot say the same. First of all, he came into the room and began procedures with no assistant. This seemed unusual to me, but acceptable. The first shot of anesthetic that he administered was to the «hinge» part of my jaw. It was extremely painful, and made it almost impossible to open my mouth afterward. When I told him this, he said, «Oh, I think you have TMJ.» To my knowledge I never had it prior to that shot. I continue to have difficulty opening my mouth, today.
The next shot was closer to the molar that was to be extracted. It was also extremely painful, and a golf-​ball sized lump (hematoma) swelled up and became apparent on the outside of my lower mandible. When I asked him why it became so instantly and externally swollen, he said, «Oh, that will dissipate as we go on.» It is now four days later, and the bump has finally started to be less obvious, but there is purple bruising (on my face) in several locations on my jaw line and it is still hard. He then set about the business of pulling teeth. With no assistant, (or suction) there was a pooling up of blood in the back of my mouth, that started to go down my throat. I was choking, and coughed up blood, to which he said, «Stop that! When you do that you are spitting blood on me, and yourself!»
I won’t go on, but the horror had only just begun with Dr. Burgett.
When the dentures were completed, and were placed in my mouth, the top plate was noticeably higher on one side than the other, and the bottom teeth were much too long, causing me to have an unreasonably long face. Friends who saw me said, «Oh, my God, those don’t look anything like your teeth!» I heard recently that the dentures could have been made in China, where dentures are produced as generically, quickly and cheaply as possible. I can’t say for sure, but Dr. Peng is Chinese, no?

They offer very bad quality of service. DO NOT GO HERE FOR ANY REASON.
They charged my insurer $ 349 for my Prophylaxis, X-​rays, and a comprehensive oral evaluation. Overall it took 25 minutes including the X-​rays. The assistant sort of polished my teeth before the dentist came in for the exam.
I saw Dr. Peng for about 2 minutes, and waited for 10 minutes. She told me I needed three fillings before looking into my mouth (must have been from the X-​rays but this was a first) and then scheduled me to come in for fillings the next day. That was it. THEY DO NOT CLEAN YOUR TEETH HERE UNLESS YOU SCHEDULE A «DEEP CLEAN». Every other dentist I’ve been to has done a thorough cleaning as part of the basic cleaning.
Despite all this, I went back for the fillings and the doctor was really rough while working on my teeth. I’ve had a fillings before and this was by far my most uncomfortable experience at a dentist. Now it’s only 5 days later and my fillings are already breaking off my teeth leaving jagged edges and holes.

Their office called after seeing my review on Unilocal and we scheduled a cleaning. The man who had taken my x-​rays was handling the front desk. I was escorted to one of the rooms where the Dental Hygienist cleaned my teeth efficiently and gently. I am glad that any miscommunication was cleared up.
