This place is great. Great staff all around, you can easily tell they care about the children. Everyone is always willing to help. My little brothers and sister have been coming here for years and love coming here because they know they’re going to be taken care of. Funny because children are usually terrified once they hear the words «Dentist Appointment». The ladies are great at socializing with the kids in order to make them feel comfortable before going through procedures. They’re all extremely patient and kind with their patients. Overall just a great environment!

I’ve been bringing my girls here now since they were both one years old. I really appreciate the time and patience from the staff. They really take their time with the kids to make sure they are comfortable. My oldest daughter had x-​rays done when she turned 2.5 and again at 3.5 and she never cried or moved. She actually told me it was fun!

This dentistry office is the BEST! They are so compassionate, kind and understanding with my girls. They make my kids feel so comfortable. My 12 yr old was terrified of her last dentist. When she came here she didn’t cry when they had to do fillings. I asked her why she didn’t cry at this office and she told me that they didn’t make her feel scared. She gets great advice from the staff and she doesn’t ever fear going back. My 3 ½ your old has been going since she was 1. She really loves going. They make it a safe, comfortable and playful environment for her so she isn’t scared.
I love how all the staff interact with the kids. They get to know the children and develop a relationship with them. Monica Hernandez is one of the dental assistants and she is so professional, nice and caring with the kids. Not just mine but I see how she treats all the kids that way. The whole staff is so professional but at the same time put themselves at a kids level to help them through the process. When you call for an appt they find a way to get you in. The wait time is great. Very clean and neat inside.
There isn’t enough room on here to go on and on about this fabulous office. If your a parent and you want a great trust worthy dentist who isn’t out for your money then you need to call to get your kids in. I’ve always felt they had my best interest at heartYou won’t regret it!!!

We just had another wonderful dental check up with Dr. Chan! My sons both love her! My kids really like to go see the Dentist, especially my son Steven. He has some special needs, autism, but he loves Dr. Chan and will let her do anything. She is amazing with him and all kids… thank you Dr. Chan for many years of great dental care.

We have an almost 4-​year-​old daughter. We have been here a couple of times for teeth cleanings, but she is a tough kid with strangers. Finally we had a good, cooperative session from her and Dr. Chan found quite a bit of decay. After x-​rays the quote to repair her teeth was about $ 5k (we do not have dental insurance). I was a bit taken aback and decided to get quotes from 2 other pediatric dentists. They found the same problems without looking at Chan’s suggestions and they were both MORE expensive than Chan. We therefore decided to stay with Dr. Chan as our daughter had a relationship with her and the staff.
Our daughter had to be sedated in order to complete all of the work in a timely manner and so we didn’t traumatize her. She was anesthetized by Dr. Cotter who was WONDERFUL! All of the work was completed within 2 hours. Our daughter recovered wonderfully and had NO mouth pain afterwards. She ended up with just 1 baby crown (as opposed to 4) and she loves it and calls it her sparkle tooth. She has no idea what happened and can’t wait to visit the dentist again. This was definitely the best route to go since our child can be so anxious and needed so much work done.
We purchased an electric toothbrush from Dr. Chan’s office and were given new and better brushing instructions.
In the end we paid $ 4700 for the sedation, dental work and the toothbrush. They gave us 15% off since we didn’t have insurance and we are on a payment plan through Care Credit. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I know it was the best possible decision for our child. I would highly recommend Dr. Chan and her staff to anyone!

Dr. Chan and her staff were amazing from beginning to end. I suspected my 3.5 month old daughter had a pretty severe lip tie. I called Dr. Chan’s office at the recommendation of my lactation consultant. Bonnie helped me get an appointment right away (called Friday, they squeezed me in on Monday afternoon). Communication was awesome, they always did what they said they were going to do. They were all extremely friendly and helpful. Everyone in the office had a baseline level understanding of ties and the revision procedures. Dr. Chan assessed my daughter, identified a severe lip tie and posterior tongue tie. She then explained all the benefits of the procedure, encouraged me to feel the ‘before’, showed me how to do her exercises for post procedure, left time for questions, completed the procedure quickly and then brought the baby out to me (to a specific nursing area) for me to nurse her straight away. We had done all the paperwork and payment beforehand so we didn’t have to mess with that after. They called to check on her the next day and scheduled a complementary follow up for a few days after. They are bending over backwards to help us get the money from insurance. I can’t say enough great things. My daughter’s latch was immediately better following the procedure and she has been much more willing to eat since. I would recommend getting a laser frenectomy from Dr. Chan to anyone who needs one!

i’ve been going to dr. chan’s since i was a little girl. the office staff have always been great, being able to go have get my check ups and braces taken care in one place has a plus. im going off to collage and plan to come back on my breaks for my dental care. thank you dr. chan ! see you soon.

I have been a client of this office for MANY years myself. They have ALWAYS been very helpful and have treated me so well there. I am always out in a timely manner. I love the office and the ladies on staff there are so helpful and attentive. Now that I have a child of my own, this is the only place I take him!

My kids first time visiting this office and we were there for just over 2 hours … 2 HOURS! It’s difficult to keep a 4 and 5 year old happy at a doctor’s office for that long. Plus, by the time we left it was WAY past their lunch time and they were starving. Totally unfair to do that to kids! They were obviously running very behind and not one mention of it to me or any apologies. I moved to this dental office because it was closer to where we live in east county. Maybe we should just make the drive to Scripps Ranch where our previous dentist is located because we would be out of there a lot faster so that we can go do something fun (we were never kept for more than an hour at our previous dentist office). I think this office is just so big and they must double book or something that I don’t know if they’re ever on time. The staff and dentist were friendly but I got a much warmer feeling from our previous dentist office (my kids were also more entertained at that office). I asked my kids which dentist office they like better and they said their previous dentist. Looks like we’ll stick with the longer drive then because I just don’t have 2 hours to blow at a dentist office.
I may not be the most punctual person (I am for appointments though) but I expect my doctors offices to be, or at least close to it (I get there on time out of respect; if i had been late, my appointment probably would have been rescheduled so the respect didn’t seem mutual to me). 2 hours for a cleaning is ridiculous!

I initially had a big fallout with these folks after me not understanding a bill. They dealt my contentiousness professionally and kindly.
Since then I’ve realized;
These folks care about the kids they’re seeing and they take good care of them.

I took my 3 month old daughter in for a posterior tongue tie revision. Dr. Jean Chan and staff were wonderful! I was nervous, in tears at times but, they were all very supportive and the procedure itself from the time the nurse took her and brought her to my arms was 12 min. The laser part was probably a few min. My daughter was a little upset but gave us a big smile when they brought her to us (which was very reassuring that she experienced minimal pain). Everyone was very friendly. They follow up to check in and offer to have you bring your child in again if you need help with the after care or have any concerns which shows they care. I’m glad I did it and intend to go back to get my older kiddos assessed and treated. Thank Dr. Chan and staff for your help and care.

My 1 star is due to how you feel like they are used car salesman instead of dentist it’s like they are giving inflated diagnosis and the front desk staff is relentless In trying to get you to have work done that’s not needed. It’s like they are aggressive sales people. I would not recommend you bring your child here and put yourself through constantly having to tell them no you don’t think the work they are suggesting is necessary. It just really annoying and makes for a unpleasant experience.

Dr. Chan’s office is very kid-​friendly and she is a great dentist that makes young kids feel comfortable. The practice also has a very active online and social media presence which is great for someone like me. Also, I am always helped out by Maribel in the office and she is very friendly and helpful.

I just wanted to say thank you to the staff and Dr. Chan. Bonnie and Gloria were who worked with us the most and they were both very friendly, warm and helpful. My daughter was having difficulties latching and we took her to Dr. Chan to see if a laser Frenectomy was needed. My daughter was 5 weeks old. Dr. Chan took a great amount of time to explain and show me what was going on with my daughter. We ended up having to get both the lip and the tongue surgery. Dr. Chan and the staff made it very clear that after the surgery, we needed to do the stretching exercises including how and when to do them. They even took us in for free follow up appointments to make sure I was doing it right and that they weren’t growing. This was very important as I had a friend who took there child to a clinic and did not do the exercises and the lip and tongue tie grew back. Dr. Chan was extremely knowledgable and really understood what I was going through and how to help. I am now very proud to say that almost two months after the surgery, my daughter is now latching on her own! It didn’t happen directly after the surgery, so please don’t give up if the latching doesn’t improve over night. Thank you Dr. Chan, Bonnie and Gloria!

First time experience taking my 7-​YO hear was great. He got to wear sunglasses while getting his teeth looked at. He made a friend in the waiting room. The RDA spent a lot of time talking to my son about his hobbies and favorite movies. I had a concern about an ingredient inside one of the dental cleaning products and they called the manufacturer to verify for me before they applied it to his teeth. Lots of fun with a giant toothbrush photo. Dr Chan was awesome and took me aside and spent all the time I needed reviewing his X-​rays and answering my questions.
I thought about deducting one star because I had to wait about 15 minutes to see the RDA but showed up on time.

I have been bringing my kids to see Dr. Chan for the past 3 years. No matter how busy
the office was that day Dr. Chan has always been so thorough with my kids exams and patient in explaining any treatment my kids needed. She also provided me with all the information and treatment options I needed to be able to make a decision in what the best treatment would be for my child.
My son recently had an accident involving 5 of his permanent teeth and Dr. Chan has gone above and beyond in the care that my son needed. Whether it was squeezing him into that days schedule so that she could check the progress of his healing and
also making sure that we had all the necessary information for the specialists he would be seeing.
Dr. Chan has a way with the kids that makes them feel comfortable and at ease during treatment. Which is not an easy task to accomplish in children’s dentistry where most children fear the worst. I just can’t say enough about Dr. Chan and her staff. I highly recommend Dr. Chan to all my family and friends with kids… You won’t find another Pediatric Dental office that cares so much about making kids dental experiences a positive and fun one! My kids actually look forward to going to the Dentist… How many kids can say that about going to the Dentist :)

I used to take my two children to Dr. Chan. We relied on her as our dentist for a couple years in fact.
The jungle animal décor is very kid-​friendly, the bathroom situation is annoying, but the nurses give the kids tons of stickers, prizes and balloons, which they do realy enjoy.
Dr. Chan seems talented, and her nurses are sweet. Although we usually had to wait a good 30 minutes from our appt time to be seen. My 2 stars is due to the fact that I have suspisions that she trumps up her diagnosis a bit to create more work. It could be that Dr. Chan is just very aggressive in the treatments she suggests, but all the same, I didnt feel her approach worked for me.
At first, I just took everything she said as a fact, she is the dentist and I am not, afterall. Even though she was prescribing many, many fillings, and even some crowns for my son, I just went with her advice. She also recommended he be put under general anethesia to do the work. She also always expressed a sense of urgency, as if I really must act now and get the treatments scheduled ASAP. I was VERY nervous about this, but I buckled under the pressure to do what I thought was the right thing for my child.
Although his procedure turned out ok, I believe that the general anesthesia was an unnessesary, dangerous and expensive measure. It is incredibly frightening to witness your child go under anesthesia. As soon as he went under I began to doubt I made the right choice. My son woke up from his procedure angry that he couldnt remember what had happened to him. In retrospect I think he would have been better off with novacaine and maybe some nitrous, at most. Now that he has been knocked out for dental work, he is highly suspicious and untrusting of dentists. I think the memory of some physical pain would have faded and been more beneficial to him. because his distrust due to being put under general anesthesia seems more detrimental.
Fast forward to my younger daughter’s first visits. She was diagnosed with multiple cavities, and Dr. Chan recommended that I also put her under anesthesia for the 4 tiny fillings. I do not think that is appropriate for treating baby teeth. Dr. Chan seems a little pushy, So I went for a second opinion. The new dentist is much more in line with my conservative approach. And the new dentist also told me that there were less cavities then Dr. Chan indicated. I can view this one of two ways. Dr. Chan was more thorough, and reads x-​rays more closely… OR she wants to do as many possibly unessesary procedures as possible to make more money, regardless of if they are really neccessary…
I took me a couple years to realize this, but I am glad that I finally have a dentist for my kids that seems more honest and realistic.

Dr Chan is a wonderful doctor and her staff is very courteous and go out of their way to make you comfortable. There is one staff member who listens to my personal grief as well as treat me kindly as a patient. This office has the most loving heart and treats me as if I were family. This office is caring, professional and always has a listening ear and for this reason, me and my kids will continue to be patients… Best office in town!

I love this place I’ve brought my daughter here to get her teeth cleaned and the staff was very nice and professional. I remember this lady I think her name was Monica she was awesome my daughter loved her. I recommend you bring your kids here.

Plan on spending a couple hours here, most of which will be spent waiting.
Pros: Nice staff and cute waiting area with TVs and toys. The staff really was friendly, thus the two stars.
Cons:
My daughter needed work done on her front tooth. Dr. Chan wanted to get an anesthesiologist in to put her under, saying she didn’t think my daughter would be able to handle it.
A) That would have cost me like $ 2000 out of pocket, just for the anesthesia, for a FILLING on a BABY TOOTH.
B) You should not put kids under for dang fillings. A filling! You should not go around using IV sedation willy-​nilly. That turns it into a serious medical procedure. Why not use some nitrous or a shot for such a minor issue?
I said heck no, and they did the filling with only nitrous, and she was absolutely fine.
The filling subsequently fell out, got worse, and had to be redone elsewhere as a full crown.
Also, there is no restroom in the office, You have to get a key from the desk, go outside, go around the building, and unlock the door. This is also annoying considering that your kid will probably need to pee at least once during the long wait time.
