Independent Tax Counselors

Thanks to Unilocal I found this awesome place! It really was everything I needed and it was simple. I had an on going tax issue with my decreased grandpa and they got it all cleared up for me within a week. Cost less then H&R block and they know what they are doing (I refuse to go to H&R block or Jackson Hewitt) I definitely will use them in the future for any other tax needs.

After losing my longterm and talented accountant last year, I gave James a try here at ITC. I once again trusted you guys ( Unilocalers) and once again it paid off. My experience was a good one and James had some big shoes to fill. James is a very friendly, passive type of guy who knows what he is doing and works efficiently. Recommended. More below for those who like detail.
James’ schedule was very accommodating and he is always available. My visit was a short one but James asked good questions during that time. After he got my info and documents I was on my way — James does everything on his time, which is nice.
Having had some great service prior to James, he had to impress me and he did earned my respect as a preparer. My visit wasnt the most indepth compared to an accountants approach, but the end result was good. James managed to find some money for me which wasnt so easy to do.
I also got tips from James on how to maximize my return next year. He had answers to everything I asked and never acted rushed. Im not sure how he will be in April, lol, but for now he had all the time needed.
The only reason Im not giving James 4 stars is price. I’ve had my taxes done by accountants with much more experience (and it showed) for the same price that ITC charges for long-​form. Personally I think the price should be a little lower for what they offer. However all it took was asking and I got a nice break on price due to filing two years with them back to back so zero complaints for me. Had I been paying $ 300 per return, I know I have other choices Id have to consider.
Overall I very much enjoyed dealing with James specifically and the locale is pretty convenient so yea. try him out.

ITC… ITC…ITC…a Great thorough place to get your taxes done! I met with James… this was a quick, painless, thorough job he did for us! Prices reasonable and he was easy to talk to and ask questions! All I did was go in drop off my papers, he got some basic info from me, then he says, ok I will call you in a couple of days and let you know what I come up with. Wait what? I just drop off and go?! Sweeeet! So As he said the f/​u call came the next day and I actually recvd a refund this yr… All I had to do was go in and sign and I was on my way! Quick, painless, and efficient! Just what you NEED and PAY FOR during tax season! No mess, no fuss!!!

Call James, Make an Appt and you will be seeing and referring James to everyone you know!

James at ITC has been doing my taxes for the last four years and he is definitely the best! Before James I went to HR and got a smaller return, but James gets me the largest return year after year!
Now that I am back in school I have multiple confusing tax documents and there is no way I can do it on my own! My advice to you: stop wasting an entire Saturday doing your own taxes and struggling through the process, instead go to James and get a speedy and large$$$$ return :)
I checked around SD and the S. Bay and James offers the best prices! Excellent value for excellent service! I cannot be happier!
About two years ago I moved to the Bay Area, however I can still easily scan and email my tax documents to James and get a return the very next day! I cannot believe how fast my taxes are finished!

Seriously, James is no joke. The best and most practical advice I have ever gotten! Being young and married with no children, no house and no retirement taxes have been a dark time for us, not so this year!

I have filed my taxes through ITC for 2 years now and it had berm exceptional service every time! They are very quick and professional, while always communicating with me. They even handled the direct deposit stuff for me! Thumbs up

James at Independent Tax Counselors has done my taxes for the last 3 years (this year will be my 4^th). James was able to max out my return once I started my MBA program. I don’t even need to go into the office. I can just email him all of my information and he takes care of everything.
Taxes can be really stressful, but I’m happy to say that I get my tax return before the majority of my friends even file. The prices are reasonable and the service is timely. There are no complaints from this customer who keeps coming back.

Independent Tax Counselors is a great place to go– i was referred by a family friend in El Cajon and I was really impressed by the service. I had an appointment with James and he was very helpful and patient which was really refreshing compared to other experiences I’ve had.
Definitely coming back next year.
