Specialties
The primary focus of attention for the doctors is the animal. Each doctor has their own beliefs and philosophies as to why they chose this profession and lifestyle. We draw strength and confidence from this foundation of beliefs. We strive to provide excellent care with compassion for the animal and respect for the client.
East County Large and Small Animal Practice strives to provide efficient and courteous service. We want to meet the clients’ needs in a timely fashion and charge a fee fair to both the client and the practice. We desire a client/practice relationship that is mutually beneficial and congenial.
The staff at East County Large and Small Animal Practice is striving for a working environment that enriches the human condition. We choose to explore the positive in any situation. We choose to find the humor in ourselves, our clients, and our patients. We realize that how we feel is a choice. We choose to be aggressive and progressive in the practice.
History
Established in 1981.
Dr. Smith started ECLAP in 1981 out of the garage in his Santee home. He moved the practice to Blossom Valley in 1983, and in 1987 the construction of a new barn was completed which still serves as the office and hospital. Dr. Smith ran the practice alone until 1983. Dr. Chandler came onboard in 1987 and the two doctors ran the practice for another 5 years until 1992 when they began to hire more veterinarians. In March 2011, we opened our Small Animal Clinic. Today the practice has five veterinarians covering all areas of East County and treating animals at our hospital.
