My 2000 Honda Civic has less than 90,000 miles and runs great so why get rid of it? Terrible (typical) paint fading on this green car. After getting a $ 4000 quote from a local paint and body shop and $ 5000 from a Honda dealer, I FB’d friends for recommendations and got one for this place. I remember growing up hearing, «I’ll paint any car any color for $ 19.95» and remember Scheib’s reputation for less than quality work. But after reading reviews I decided to take a chance.
No upsell here — Joe lays out the three levels of paint jobs and when asked if he thought the highest price job was the one to choose he said I should choose the best one for my budget.
Left my car Monday morning and Wednesday morning it was finished. Signs in the shop advise they do not do «factory paint jobs». i.e., the paint jobs aren’t perfect, but are very good. After inspecting the finished job I really don’t know how it could have been any more perfect. And at just over $ 1100 for the highest level paint job including two small dents repaired, I am one happy customer!

I have to say I was a little apprehensive in using them. However, there are some small imperfections but in all honesty, it exceeded my expectations. I don’t think anyone including my self is really going to look that close. It’s certainly not a show truck but I do care how it looks. Joe was quick and freindly. His staff was professional and patient. Both did a good job! If the paint job lasts the 3 years as expected I would have to say they exceeded my expectations. The alternative was taking it to a higher end paint shop who quoted me nearly $ 5,000 for the same job. Joe charged me $ 775 out the door. So for a $ 4,225 or 84.5% savings over the higher end paint shops is well worth the the small imperfections that I don’t really notice. Good job to Joe and his crew!

I have worked with Joe on 2 cars. A 1969 Ford Ranchero and a 2001 Pontiac Aztek. He was thorough and detail minded. He explained everything in terms I understood. His pricing was very straight forward. He did not in any way over promise. They did a quality job on both cars. I would absolutely recommend them.

I went in to Schieb Paint & Body because I used to work with the owner’s wife. I was just going to get an estimate for some body work and paint for my 2003 Corolla S. It had oxidation all over the hood, roof, and trunk, as well as multiple dents/​dings.
Joe, the owner, was great – from the beginning! He is very knowledgable and helpful and certainly does not try to upsell anything. They offer 3 basic paint jobs, depending on your price range. He was showing me his son’s truck and his own car that he’s painted as well. He gave me an estimate, let me pick out colors, and there was absolutely no pressure at all!
I dropped the car off the next day (Tuesday) and was planning on picking it up on Thursday. I called Joe on Thursday, just to see if it was ready and he said that he painted the roof a second time, because it didn’t look good enough for him. I loved that! I was in no rush to get the car back, and he preferred that it stayed overnight, so I picked it up on Friday. Not a problem at all!
Cash and carry is the name of the game at this shop – so prepare yourself.
Not only does my car look BRAND NEW, but they buff out my headlights, which were completely fogged over… AND they fixed the wires that connected my sunroof, which now opens! WOOOOOO!!! BONUS!

I think earl is dead but scheib lives on with quality work and great prices. i must of had 5 paint jobs done here over the years and never disappointed with the job or price. Once I went to devil Macao to paint my fire bird. What a mistake the paint was peeling after 3 months abd after long battle they refused to honor there warranty blaming me. Took it to joe the manager at scheib abd he hooked me up. Great paint job and cost half as much. Will never stray again. This company does excellent work and stand behind it. The. Manager joe is the epitomy of customer service. Will continue to go there in future.

Joe, the owner of Scheib auto painting in El Cajon is the guy to see for quality auto painting. His attention to detail is excellent and the painting by the staff is equal to the most expensive in the business. The turn around time is about three days. Auto body shops in el cajon average about three weeks and charge four times as much. we had our 2001 Chevrolete Silverado HD with camper shell painted the factory color and now its looks showroom condition.
