History

Established in 1987.

DayTripper Tours was founded under the name Hollywood Connection in 1987 as a small tour company offering day excursions to the Price is Right TV Show and other Hollywood game show tapings. In 1989 the company name was changed to DayTripper Tours as its operations were expanded to include a myriad of other destinations throughout the Southwest and Mexico.

DayTripper Tours has grown to become the largest tour operator of its kind in San Diego County and each year offers hundreds of day trips and multiple-day excursions.

DayTripper Tours is proud to be affiliated with the National Tour Association, the San Diego Better Business Bureau, and internationally recognized organizations limited to members representing the highest in ethical and quality standards.

Business Owner

Myron Stam founded DayTripper Tours under the name Hollywood Connection in 1987 while working as a tour bus driver earning minimum wage. He began the business as a one-person, home-based operation offering occasional one-day trips to the Price is Right TV show and other Hollywood game shows. In 1989 he changed the company name to DayTripper Tours and expanded operations to include a myriad of other destinations throughout the Southwest and Mexico in response to increased demand for more tours. In 1994 he opened a small office and hired his first employee. The company’s headquarters were subsequently relocated in 1996, 1999 and 2004 into larger office spaces to accommodate the demand for more employees. In 2011 the company moved to its present location in El Cajon, CA and currently employs 12 independent tour guides and 14 full and part-time office staff members, including Stam, who serves as president and CEO.

Daytripper Tours was recommended to me by a colleague, and I would not hesitate to recommend their bus tours to anybody. Daytripper Tours are the best I’ve ever taken.
As an example, the latest tour my wife and I took was yesterday, up to the Getty Center. Our Tour Director was Crystal, and I don’t recall the driver’s name, my bad. Crystal was the perfect host (is ‘hostess’ still politically correct?). Our driver was superb. We ran into some rain at night on the way home, and I noticed he adjusted his speed accordingly, and drove as well as a bus can be driven.
Speaking of the bus, it was a brand new one! Large, very large, and very comfortable and quiet. The video monitors and the audio system were excellent.
My wife and I have taken several previous day trips with Daytripper (certainly an apt name, but they also do longer trips, too), and have never been disappointed. Sure, Unilocalers can whine about the actual event they attended, but they are the ones who chose it. They should review the event, not Daytrippers.
I recommend the Getty Center tour, which can be done several times in order to fully appreciate this enormous and incredibly fascinating Center, and also the tour up to the Ronald Reagan Library in Simi Valley. The Reagan Library was remarkable, and lunch was included. We were seated under the port wing of Reagan’s Air Force One Boeing ! The Cowboy Festival was terrific. Others, too, and it’s always a matter of personal taste.
It’s never a matter of safety. I have always felt very safe on the Daytripper tours.
Get on their E-mail list, and peruse the new tours being offered. Every once in a while a special price will be E-mailed to you, and you won’t be able to resist.

Stuck on the side of the freeway with flat tire… What happen to equipment checks… They clearly have no plan for this eventuality.

very thankful for having a nice event to attend on a holiday with a bunch of nice people, and I am generally not a nit-picking quibbler but allow me to point out a few things about The White House in Anaheim CA where we dined on turkey dinner thanksgiving day. the dinner was adequately large but quite dry. The gravy boat came, not even full, one for a table of ten people. we were forced to ask for «extra» gravy but it wasn’t extra, what they served was only enough for about two people out of the ten. The cranberry sauce finally arrived about halfway through the dinner and again I couldn’t help but stare at the Oliver Twist-sized portion, we should have all said, Please sir, could we have more?
Although the rest of the food was ok, why serve white margarine instead of butter at this prestigious restaurant where guests have paid to have a nice dinner? margarine instead of butter? you have to be kidding.
The tour itself was ok also. Our tour guide, however, paid lavish attention to some guests while totally ignoring others. Have to admit that she was solicitious and very helpful when one guest fell, coming back several times to make sure the guest was all right. But when I asked the tour guide if I could have a single seat since I was traveling alone, instead of giving a gracious sorry and an explanation which let’s face it would not be hard to do, she just said my seat number was number 39. from then on she ignored me. Daytrippers has some really good guides but I guess they’re not perfect. I’ve had almost a universally good experience with Daytrippers. This was not one of them.

The Gustavo Dudamel/Angel Romero concert @ the Disney Concert Hall was magical in every respect & I will definitely participate in other DayTripper tours based on that experience. Pat Brown is a great addition to the experience… so personable!

I’ve been on 37 of these tours, so I guess it is about time for me to give them a review. All the trips have been single day trips. The first one was the Fillmore and Western Luncheon Train tour back in 2006. The tours I have been on include Catalina, Salton Sea, Windmill Farms, Nethercutt Auto Museum, Space Shuttle Endeavour, Union Station, Date Festival in the desert, Jet Propulsion lab, KPBS, Union Tribune, L. A Times., March Air Reserve Base, Camel Dairy, Hubbell house, Benedict Castle, Silk Road Exhibit to name a few. Today we went to the Rancho Santa Ana Botanic Garden and Fullerton Arboretum. What I like about these trips is that everything is prearranged and all you have to do is show up in time to catch the bus and leave the driving to Day Tripper tours. Sometimes lunch or dinner is included on the tour and sometimes they drop you off in an area with a lot of eateries and you are on your own to eat where you want. I have never had a bad experience. Some tours are better than others, but the tour guides and bus drivers have always done a great job.

Just returned from the train ride to the south rim of the Grand Canyon and Scenic Sedona trip. Leslie and Ernesto were awesome. There were 27 of us for six days. We had a great time and made new friends. Leslie was so afraid we would go hungry so she kept giving us snacks. She made sure we were always comfortable and that we were having a great time. Ernesto made sure we had enough water all the time. He also made sure we got everywhere safely and that we exited the bus without falling off the steps.
The train ride to the Grand Canyon and tour was our favorite day even though it was a very long day. The Grand Canyon caverns were so interesting. Seeing Bob in the caverns was amazing. The hotels were lovely. Most of the time we had great food. We never went hungry. We were able to do plenty of shopping. Everyone was courtious and respectful.
Thank you Day Trippers for putting together a great trip.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! When calling to inquire about the trip I explained that I had a handicap in which I needed to sit in the front of the bus. This was our first experience with DayTrippers. I even offered to come to the first loading of the bus to assure that I could sit in the front. I was told that seats were assigned and that they would assign me a seat and no one would be in that seat. The Daytripper employee said that there were only a few signed up for the tour and the seat assignment is in order of the reservation. Bottom line… my seat was in the MIDDLE of the bus. I was led to believe that my needs would be met and they were not… do NOT believe the sales pitch.
On top of being sick because my seat was in the MIDDLE of the bus… not in front, we watched the driver run a red light in front of us as we were exiting for the pick-up park and ride location. The driver also crossed a double yellow to enter the car pool lane on 5 freeway and was on and off the accelerator the entire trip.

Went on one of their trips/tours to the Pantages to see «The Book of Mormon.» Ernesto the driver was very nice and as was David the tour guide. All went like clock work. Nice to have someone else navigate in LA «rush» hour traffic. They made enough stops to stretch, have a bite to eat to break up the trip. It was a full day and my first Day Tripper tours. I will plan on another one soon. Thanks Ernesto, David and Day Trippers. HIGHLY recommend.

I would not recommend the rose bowl parade tour. Even though it was pretty it was way too crowded and hectic. Waited in line 1hour to use the bathroom. Bus was comfy and Keri our tour guide was very nice. We had to wait a very long time to get our hotel room which we were not happy about. Went to dinner and battle of the dance show and the food was not too good show was so so kind of disappointed … Hotel room
at courtyard marriott buena park was very basic bed too soft light in bathroom flickered … They messed up with our check in very disappointed with that we were tired and really needed to rest before show but could not. I would not go on another bus tour as its just not my thing … The bus was nice and driver was nice too name Ernesto .
