One of the best Mexicans food spots in San Diego. Not only do you get good food you get even better customer service. We love to come visit Jessica in the Cantina she is always wonderful not only does she know about the food there she knows a lot about the drinks as well. I recommend getting the flautas they are huge enough to share with 2 people and a michelada made by Jessica.

This is our favorite taco shop! It has all of the flavor of a delicious San Diego taco shop with the option of dining in the full-service Cantina. The beer selection is great. We love dining on Wednesday nights because we can have Jessica as our server. She is wonderful and has turned us into regulars. Excellent salsa bar that includes the most delicious carrots.

Came here with a friend because I heard the Tuesday bar tender was cute. Turns out they have amazing food, the big rolled tacos are bomb and she a spicey margarita that rivals the best I’ve had downtown. The bar tender her name was Jessica. Tuesday nights are the night to go, ask for the spicey marg.

Why can’t these folks hire bartenders that give a damn? The food is great & they have craft beer. But I always feel like I’m imposing on the bartender. A shame considering there are some great customer oriented folks out there that need a job!

Breakfast burritos are good. Ordered a sc cougars burrito, it was very cold… on another occasion We ordered Carne asada fries, the toppings were scarce, especially the cheese. No nacho cheese and only a little bit of shredded cheddar sprinkled(scarcly on top) do not recommend this item. For 8 bucks and change, and the quantity was little. I once waited 20 minutes for 3 breakfast burritos. 2 of them were the same order, nothing fancy on any of them and there was only 1 group of 3 people ahead of me and they left about 15 minutes after i ordered. They charge 2 $ for yesterday churro chips. Customer service is *meh*

Unfortunately not up to its prior quality. The bar area is designated 21 and up but routinely has minors with parents. One bathroom is for women and the other is for women/men. When did guys rank so low that they don’t even get their own bathroom? Food is a little hit and miss and usually comes out at different times for members of the same party. Last thing I want is it to fail but please pick it up.

Actually sad I have to give them a star count because I would give them negative stars if I could. Had a late night after work and wanted a burrito, it was 9:56 when I walked in and the guy told me to leave and said they close at 10:00. I told him I just want a burrito to go and I still have 4 minutes. He refused me service and told me I had to leave because they are closed. I showed him the time on my phone and pointed out there were still people sitting inside eating, not to mention the open sign was still lit up. Never again, I even get bitter when I pass by it. Pretty sure that’s illegal.

My family of 5 love coming to this place. Service is excellent and most importantly food is served minutes from being ordered. Their chips and salsa is the best! My favorite plate is the carne asada nachos. Amazing!

I’ve been here approximately 10 times now… I have a pretty good taste for what Alberto’s has to offer. I recently ordered a carne asada burrito, and a pollo asado burrito. Both will run you about $ 6.50 each. I initially gave Alberto’s 4 Stars, but have since changed my mind based on my 10th visit. When you compare them to the nearby competition(Mañanas and TRES taqueria), they’re simply not up to speed. Although I certainly appreciate that Alberto’s seems to have ties to the local schools and community… their food earns 2 – 3 stars. The carne asada and pollo asado are severely under-seasoned, and taste like they were boiled instead of char grilled. I know you guys can cook, so you’re either cutting corners on the Mexican culinary technique, or you’re not following the true recipe. Your burritos should have more flavor than the salsa that I put on it. Thank you for your time

The place is nice and clean. The food is average. The girl at the counter«Annette» was rude and she gives you dismissive looks as if you are bothering her. Kept talking with the other girl and finally asked«how she can help me» The tone of her voice was as if she is miserable and cant wait to get you out of her way. So as far as service its horrible!

So my wife and me came to get some good posole and the place looked very nice when I first walked in but after trying the food the salsa and even the tortillas I really regret it. The posole taste watered down. Has no flavor what’s so ever. The tortillas feel as if they just threw them in the microwave. And it’s hot!!! Even the cashier is fanning herself right now and they don’t turn on the a/c. Won’t be back at all

Awesome burritos, all of them are great. While not the best in all of SD, definitely the best in the El Cajon area. They also have a chipotle type salsa that is only available if you eat in, which is amazing. Great little spot.

This place is awesome. They have potato tacos! But seriously, the food is great, it’s fresh and tasty. Make sure to try the large rolled tacos, they don’t disappoint. Ask for the chipotle sauce… Yum. The service is outstanding, the staff is supper friendly and accommodating. I will be coming back for sure. Check it out!

Ordered a California burrito to go during lunch, and didn’t mind the wait. The place has a nice atmosphere. I grabbed a few to-go cups for their salsa bar, and got some of their red salsa that they have behind the counter. So much good going for this place, I thought I was in for a treat. The yay: The burrito was bigger than I expected. The meat was hot and delicious. The tortilla held up quite well. The fries were hot and just the right texture. The meh: The dark red salsa has a bit of flavor, but just doesn’t go with the burrito(but in this case it had to). The pico inside the burrito looked great, but was so cold it detracted from the enjoyment of the burrito. The price seemed a tad steep($ 6.75 for the California burrito), which you might think is ok based on all of the good reviews. The ugh: The cheese was not melted at all, even by the time I got to the bottom of the burrito. The cheese also tasted like the over processed shred you can get at the chain grocery when you want to make a cheap taco at home. None of the salsa works. The red from behind the counter is a sweet water with an ounce of punch(not hot; not flavor adding; certainly not for me) which got tossed after the first taste. The red salsa from the salsa bar is very sweet as well, which might go well with your chips, but not so much my burrito. Overall, it was edible, but not enjoyable. I imagine a standard Carne Asada burrito would be much better. Just bring your own salsa.

Dropped by Alberts for taco tuesday last wk because of all the good reviews plus we’ve never been and I wasn’t real impressed. We got Carne asada and fish tacos that were ok. Nothing to write home about. We sat in the bar to watch the games and the bartender was by herself. In the cantina you can sit at a table or at the bar and it’s hard for one person to keep beers topped off and wait on tables at the same time. Most restaurants have more than one employee helping out in the bar. I thought it was a full bar after reading sports bar and cantina every where but they serve beer and wine based mixed drinks only. Something to consider if you were hoping for a Margarita. I tried one to say I did and I wasn’t a big fan. Later I ordered a beer for me and a water for my wife and she must’ve forgot bc I had to remind her. it really wasn’t that big of a deal, it just added to the experience I guess. On the plus side the cantina looks pretty good like it was just remodeled plus there’s tv’s everywhere if you’re going to watch the game.

Love this place! The pollo asada nachos are huge and so full of flavor, you will not be disappointed. The tortilla chips are fresh and melt in your mouth with the right amount of salt and just talking about it is making me hungry. They also have a sports beer bar attached where you can order the full menu. The service there is fast and friendly. The only negative of this place is the main ordering area can take a little bit to either place your order or pick up a phone order, but it is worth it.

Alberts has become my go to taco shop in Rancho after Las Parillas went downhill. The food is always fresh and the hot sauce had a nice kick to it without distracting from the food. The girls that answer the phone have gotten my order wrong a couple times, but they always fixed it and now I just ask them to repeat it back to me. Everyone that works here has always been friendly even though they are typically quite busy. My favorites here are the Surf and Turf Bowl and the Beef Or Carne Asada Enchiladas. The Surf and Turf Bowl comes with shrimp, Carne Asada, rice, beans, cheese and a crema sauce. I always order it with black beans and no cheese to make it a little bit healthier. I love that they use decent size shrimp instead of little baby ones that you can barely taste. The enchiladas combos are a generous portion, enough so that they make 2 meals for me. You can also substitute black beans in any of the combos or burritos instead of refried beans. I’m so happy that I found Alberts and now have a new reliable taco shop close to home. My whole family has converted and Alberts is now our official supplier for our Mexican food fix!
