This school was perfect for me! Right when I walked in I felt so comfortable like I was at home! I’m really glad I found this school, Steve, the instructors, and everyone in the building is so welcoming! I’m glad I found my fit! You guys should check this school out.

Your attempt to discredit my review is childish. Let me clarify, I liked nick as a teacher but during my time here I had six teachers because of your high turnover.
I was gone for a long time because I had a baby. I never refused clinicals or extra credit and never received below a 98% on an exam.
My externship was in the most unprofessional clinic I’ve ever been in with a psychotic practitioner who verbally abused the staff. I went to every single job interview in fact to no less than two a week for over a year before I decided «not to help myself.» All of this you knew nothing about because all your job placement coordinator dos was email me Craigslist adds which I could have and dos find for myself. Then you begged me to come In and sign a piece of paper saying I wasn’t looking for work so it would not throw off you success rating which I did. You’re welcome, and nice try.

I attended as a Medical Assistant student in the 2013 year, so this review is regarding their Medical Assistant program.
I honestly don’t know where to start with this place. I can start off by saying I already have an actual college degree, so I have a high understanding of ‘higher education’.
The actual program isn’t very comprehensive at all, it’s lacking in a lot of details, and also it is too excessive in details that are completely useless; such as spending an entire month on typing/​keyboarding (regardless what Keith says below, it was an entire month, and as a note, this person has never been involved with anyone at our program while I was attending the school, in fact, neither was jo, the president of the school, never met or saw her and I was very involved with my program).
I volunteered at a hospital for 5 months of the program (not related to school) to get a better understanding of working in a medical setting (highly recommend it).
You don’t learn a lot of what medical offices want. Insurance information, authorizations, PPO, HMO, immunization scheduling, for example. You are given a test weekly on the current information you are taught. Often times students cheat, and nothing is done about it. Most of the time is was the Arabic students that would cheat, or have special treatment and re-​takes, which was against the schools policy. No one was treated the same.
I was never, nor was anyone in my class, held accountable for clinical practices. We were never graded on vitals, injections, bandages, first aide. We were only told to «practice», while most students sit in the lab and just looked at each other.
They have gone thru so many instructors it’s a joke. That right there should tell you something. They are very much ‘For Profit’ and do not have your best interest in hand, but do have their best interest in making money in hand. Which means no matter how bad you do, they will not remove you from the program, even if you have immense absences. Things were always half assed. I have never felt so unprepared as i entered the work force as a medical assistant.
I do no recommend this school at all, and highly recommend you look elsewhere.
Run down of facts:
1. Their job placement is no placement. It’s a forwarded craigslist e-​mails to you Monday-​Friday. That is their ‘Job placement’. They do not set you up on interviews. They do not have networking, or connections to any offices. All they do is send you craigslist ads.
2. They are NOT AN ACCREDITED SCHOOL. REPEAT, NOT ACCREDITED.
Which means when you graduate you cannot sit for the test to become a CMA. Certified Medical Assistant. Certification is done by the AAMA. (American Association of Medical Assistants) They are the only ones that can make you a certified medical assistant, giving you the title CMA. They are also NOT accredited for being a registered medical assistant, giving you the title of RMA. (The American Registry of Medical Assistants)
AAMA and RMA are the two most recognized accrediting agencies that do certification for medical assisting. Making you either a certified or registered medical assistant.
Advanced Training Associates does NOT have accreditation with AAMA or RMA.
They ARE accredited for the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT). Which would give you the title of NCMA (Nationally Certified Medical Assistant). That is all they are certified for. Honestly it’s not known well in San Diego, despite what the school will tell you, I have yet to meet a healthcare professional who has even heard of it. They are a legitimate accrediting agency but they are not well known.
I recommend Kaplan college. I regret not paying more money and going there. I have met several students who were trained better, had more knowledge and had actual job placement. Plus they are an actual accredited school with AAMA, which is the most important.

This school was perfect for my daughter. They provided excellent instruction from teachers who really seem to care about how she did after she graduated, and you can tell they put a lot into their facility. The way they treat every student like they really matter is why I know these people have integrity. They do what they say they will do.

I really enjoyed my time here. Every day was a learning experience. The classroom atmosphere was always positive and the instructors always made themselves available to ensure we understood everything. I would recommend this school to everyone, people that never worked in the field or for those that need to brush up on their skills and/​or need a certificate to advance in their job. The entire faculty and student body have made this a pleasurable experience

Towards the Military Students, if you are a Marine, you only get one tuition assistant towards a school that only gives certification. So use it wisely! Make sure you understand by getting an apprentice in electronics that is good for short time. The ETA expect the student to move up to a Journeyman certificate within one or two years. So if you’re not active in your electronics and obtaining more education then the ETA apprentice in electronics becomes quite useless. Getting a certificate in Fiber Optics probably will not help you get a job. Most fiber optics has already been in place and the industry does not use this old fashion method of cleave, and polish. So do your research. Most everything taught here can be found on the internet and even on YouTube. When using tuition assistance it cost the taxpayer’s (everyone) money to get these certifications. So expect the world when considering paying thousands of dollars for a one to five week 4 hour classes. I would advise to go to a junior college that are taught by engineers. Just my advice.

This is by far the worst form of «education» ever. They offer an Associate’s degree in IT and the curriculum consists of MS-​DOS and how to change the background in Windows. What a joke. The instructors always step out of the room during a test, obviously to encourage cheating. The school wants student to do well because if the student doesn’t graduate, the school doesn’t receive funds from financial aid (therefore the school doesn’t get paid). And about financial aid, the operations director will make sure you receive some sort of financial aid, she really wants to make sure to enroll you (and it’s not because she has any genuine interest in your education).
If you are military, this is a wonderful place go to school to make sure you still receive benefits. The classes consist of military students and people taking advantage of government funding. You wouldn’t believe some of the classmates I’ve had.
Two students had an altercation and one pulled out a knife. Immediately after the students’ fight, both student were sent home and the operations director passed out the rules and regulations form (the same one we signed when we enrolled) and had us all sign it again to ensure we understood the schools policy (which obviously prohibited any form of weapon). That same student was right back in class a few days later.
This place is not a school at all and they do not provide an education. They are a business with the interest of making money and absolutely no interest in education. This business exposes the flaws in our education system and government funding for education. I could go on for much longer but I’ll spare you.
The bottom line, if you want a degree on paper but are not looking for an education, this is the place. If the government requires you to go to college or else they will pull away benefits, this is the place for you. If you want a true, genuine education, this is not the place for you.

I came to this facility to have an FCC GROL exam proctored. These guys are able to do this on a days notice. They were helpful and professional and encouraging. This school in a member of Electronics Technician Association (ETA) and also proctor for the Certified Electronic Technician (CET) exams. I am returning soon to have more testing done.
I only gave them 4 stars, as I was only there for 3 hours, but it seems like a 5 star place to me.

Regarding the 8÷07÷12 Review. I was contacted by tAdvanced Training Director Valarie in November 2012, she asked me to change my rating. I’m not able to do this because everything I said was true. She said there was a new Medical Instructer now that he is very good. I stand by my rating. I would not recommend this school to anyone. If you’re going to pay for the education, go to another school. UEI is a great school. There is not a market for MA’s anymore. They are hiring nurses not MA’s. If you’re lucky to get a job in a DR office good for you. You need to know much more than they teach you at this school. Technology is the key. Computers. Everything is on a computer. This was not something I learned at this school.

ATA has a great educational staff and faculty. As a private institution, ATA understands the value of giving students personal attention that bigger universities do not offer. With hands on training, small classes, and a back home atmosphere all of my expectations were met and exceeded. What I am most proud of is the real world experience that I’ve gained and the confidence that I developed during my time at ATA.
