Best sushi in the area, hands down. I’d pick it over Wasabi’s any day.

I am new at sushi restaurant reviews. The food here was absolutely delicious. I don’t have much to compare it to other than some fabulous sushi restaurants in St. Louis. The restaurant was small, cozy, and intimate you could say, because of the very small dining area. The one hostess/server they had seemed to take care of most of the customers herself. The wait was about 45 minutes for four people after the order was placed. We did order quite a bit and it is all made fresh, right there. No complaints on the taste, preparation, or how fresh the food was. Dress code was casual or business casual. You could even get away with college wear. Great little sushi restaurant for a college town or even locals! I’ve had better sushi in St. Louis so this will get a three-star, though, it is quite possibly worthy of four stars. I think it was very worth the wait and price!

I woudnt even give this place a star if I had that option. Absolutely awful. I was gagging as I was eating it. Their rice was mushy and they use immitation crab. Never again!

I don’t eat Sushi, but my friend does. We visit about once a month for a nice dinner. The staff including Chong, the owner, and Maria, a server, welcome us with big friendly smiles. I’ve had the steak and teriyaki chicken, both very good. But, my favorite is the lobster roll. I get two every time I go there. Plus the sauces are pretty amazing. My friend always gets the Playboy and 157 rolls. Never any leftovers when we leave. Yes, the place isn’t modern. Yes, it could use some paint and the floors could be updated. But, the bathroom is clean, the food is fresh, the customer service is terrific, and never is my glass empty. The wait may be long for your food, but it’s worth every minute.

Cute place. Not fancy, but nicely decrated. Could use an update of the floors, furniture and menu’s. Started with the chef special roll. Very good, added a little ginger and miso to liven it up. Next was miso soup, best I ever had. Bento box with salmon — meh. The teriyaki sauce on the salmon was good, but the salmon was overcooked. Rice was ok. Veggies — I don’t think the we’re prepared fresh, but I am not sure. The tempura shrimp, was not crisp. I think that was frozen. But it was still good, considering. Torn between giving them a 3 or 4 star. I have defiantly been to worse places… I think I would need to try them one more time to decide for sure. Overall a decent experience.

This is a great place for Sushi. It doesn’t look like much but don’t let that fool you. The sushi is great! The 157 Roll is worth every penny.

We eat a lot of sushi, all around this country, this is very good! We had a few rolls and nigiri. We also tried the habachi steak, and chicken teriyaki also good. Highlight was the Jujube Tea, a Korean tea that rocks! Try it! We’ll be back when in E-ville.

Nori is an old school sushi and Japanese food restaurant located in a strip mall behind the McDonalds/Circle K on Highway 157 in Edwardsville. Their miso soup and basic maki is great. Specialty rolls are so so. Service is pleasant, but if you are looking for ambience, don’t go here. The front entrance is cluttered, ½ of the lights are burnt out, the wall paint and tables are chipped and worn, and the TV is running — no music. They offer all u can eat specials on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Nori rocks. Great food, amazingly friendly staff. Best sushi around. Bento boxes are great too. I lived out of state for a while and made sure to visit Nori on each visit home.

Good sushi here. The place is small but the service was great. We tried the Geisha Roll and we’re not disappointed. I will return to this place next time I am in the area. I liked it better than the other place(Wasabi)

Loved it! Tried the Playboy and they light it on fire :) Hubby had katsu bento box and loved it almost as much as Seattle’s. They were great with kids too, our son got an Avengers cup, and koala chocolates! The only negative was hubby said the refill pitcher touched his straw(he’s a germ freak). I’m sure it was an accident. We’ll be back!

Nori is fantastic. We try assorted rolls every time, and the lobster toll, even being $ 17, is scrumptious. Most times there is only one girl waiting tables, so the wait can be long. Every item we’ve ever tried has been delicious. They have a great spider roll, too. Be sure to take extra money, though. It’s not uncommon for three of us to spend $ 70 – 80 before tip. It’s definitely not a cheap night out, but what’s the harm in treating yourself occasionally?

Sushi in the Midwest? I was skeptical. Except, this is actually pretty good. I lived in Hawaii for a long time, so my tastebuds are used to a little different quality. I absolutely love sushi and most Japanese foods.(no natto!) But considering everything else around here serves deep-fried, covered-in-cheese, iceberg-lettuce-smothered-in-ranch, fat-filled ‘merican food… this was a WELCOME relief. Their rolls are good, tightly packed, not loosey-goosey like some places. Their rice is ok and I thought my unagi was average. Our server was nice and efficient. I had no trouble getting a table right away for lunch. Service wasn’t slow or fast… just average. The whole place is clean with a nice ambiance. I’ve heard they can be very slow — but I haven’t experienced that. Overall, it was a nice experience. I will definitely come back here.

4.5 is what I’d give. 20 years ago the idea of sushi in rural Illinois? Give me a break! Super fresh fish, simple and clean. That’s what makes great sushi. I had Omakase, and it was a wise choice. Next to last was their 571 roll(I think that was what it was called). Spicy, but not too spicy. The only complaint I had of the whole thing was it was finished off with a blow torch. It should have been a cooking blow torch. The one that was used left and ever-so-slight taste. Picky? Yeh… considering the rest of the meal, it was the ONLY thing that I had any quibble with. I finished off with my usual desert: ikura! The staff are friendly and very personable… quite willing to engage in conversation. I had a hard day giving training, and this was a perfect end to the day.

This is great sushi for this area. This is a small traditional looking sushi restaurant. They have an extensive menu as far as sushi choices go, and a great all you can eat special on Monday and Tuesday. It is tucked away in a shopping center so you have to look for it, but if you do find it GOIN! My recommendation would be any roll that is listed on the special board. They are a little more pricey than the rolls on the menu, but they are well worth it. I would recommend the Lobster or Playboy roll if you had to choose just one. I will continue to return not only for the good food but the attentive servers. The area is small, and they still have more that one server working the floor, so you are sure to get great service.

Wow. WAY better than that other big sushi place in town. We went with a large group on a weeknight and were able to be seated immediately. There was only one server but she was pretty on top of things. I got a steak bento box and a few sushi rolls on the side. The steak was flavored amazingly. Sushi rolls were fantastic considering the area… and the prices were good. The rice was not overly flavored or sweet, the fish was fresh, and the rolls didn’t fall apart(like some others in the area). If you want sushi in Edwarsville area, and don’t feel like driving to St. Louis give this a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I would give this place a 4.5 to be honest simply because the service is amazing! The food is also not bad on its own. I come here often enough(once or twice in a week, sometimes) and the service is always consistent; very friendly and very accommodating. I like the soup and salad to start off, but they also have other great things like their gyoza and seaweed salad. I like most of their sushi rolls and their new spicy mussels were tasty(tried them last week). Their bento boxes are good as well but I am not a fan of them in general. They do have great udon as well for the cold, soup-like days.

I am pretty sure a guy took me here on a date once… it was funny because he said«well I looked at your facebook and I discovered you liked sushi so…» little did he know I am a sushi maniac!!! Haha. Anyhoo. I was not too impressed with this place. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because the bento box I ordered had things OTHER than sushi in it. The sushi was… ick. Nothing at all was memorable about this place. Their sushi rice tasted so bland and nasty because they did not add sufficient vinegar to it. Believe it or not, kids, the vinegar is one of the most important parts of sushi rice. You probably wouldn’t guess it unless you’ve made your own sushi rice at home but, rice wine vinegar, a little salt, and a little sugar, are all important components of sushi rice and I found Nori’s to be lacking at best. I doubt I’d ever return here. Felt kinda bad for my date… little did he know… hahaha.

Nori is one of my favorite restaurants in Edwardsville. The service is super friendly, accommodating and their traditional Japanese uniforms add to the atmosphere. They have fantastic sushi rolls, and appetizers that are to die for! It may not look like much from the outside(and may not have as much hype as some of the other uppity restaurants), but it is well worth the visit!
