History

Established in 1989.

The name originated from blending Designer Lorie Britton’s floral talents with the already established jewelry business that she and her husband owned; Dahnken of Lynnwood which became Britton and Britton Jewelers. It made sense to combine his passion for jewelry design and her passion for floral design. He designed the rings and she designed the flowers. Ring Around the Rose was born!

I attended the University of Washington and continued my education at The Burnley School of Art /​Art Institute of Seattle where I graduated in graphic design. After working for four years as an artist, I returned to my first love. .. flowers!

I established Ring Around the Rose, a professional, in-​home design studio in 1989. I was an experienced florist & had already worked for 10 years as a designer at Ballard Blossom Shop during high school and college. At the time, studio florists were just beginning to emerge and it was a new concept to be an independent designer. I saw that in traditional flower shops, brides were limited to FTD books and whatever the delivery drivers could set up without assistance. I decided that I wanted to provide service and quality beyond the expected and in doing so, built a business that has been recognized for 20 years.
