History

Established in 2010.

Maria and Peanut have been a team since 2006, «I knew there was something about Peanut that couldn’t be matched in any other dog and Peanut made it clear that he felt the same way.» Maria felt heartbreak every time she had to leave Peanut to run errands or go to work. His sad face haunted her when they were apart. In 2010 Maria took a blind leap of faith making the plunge to open Peanut’s Pals to share her passion for small dogs. Since then, many small dogs have found their home away from home to be Peanut’s Pals.

After completing 23 years in the luxury cruising industry, including 12 years at sea, Maria decided at the age of 49 that it was time to settle back into land life and figure out what would be her next ‘dream career’. «I tried a few different customer service type jobs», says Maria, «but I came to realize that I probably suffered more separation anxiety than Peanut.» Thus came the decision to share her passion for small dogs with others and she opened up Peanut’s Pals. «I have the best of both worlds. Spending my days and nights with Peanut and other small dogs & earning a living at the same time. It’s a simple life but a blessed life and I couldn’t want it any other way.»

I adopted my darling gal over Thanksgiving but had an existing vacation plan in December. I soon realized that good boarders were all booked, and I didn’t want to leave her with anyone. Maria (with Peanut) was a lifesaver. She was professional but very kind as she fully explained my options and took care with my dog to make sure she had a good time during the two weeks I was away. She caters only to small dogs, which is a bonus as mine can get skittish around big dogs. I cannot say enough good words!

Our small, spoiled Chi found Peanuts Pals to be wonderful. Maria has a wonderful way with all of her charges. The atmosphere is relaxing and very clean. Peanut is a delightful master of ceremonies for this active three ring circus. Location is easy to find and easy to freeways. Thank you Maria from all the puppies.

I have taken my dogs to Adix Bed & Bath in Edmonds (never again — read my review) and the PetsHotel (by PetsMart). When I found Peanut’s Pals I thought I’d give it a try. PetsHotel was OK, but just barely. All I can say is if I ever move out of the Seattle area, I will cry because there will be no Peanut’s Pals. I lived in Denver for 26 years and there was no place like Peanut’s Pals there. Maria becomes your best friend as soon as you walk in the door. It’s like no other doggie daycare or boarding. It’s like a doggie home away from home. When I left my dogs there for 10 days, I KNEW they would be fine. I had left them for daycare to get used to a new place beforehand. To top it off, you can see where the dogs will be (unlike other places where they refuse to let you). Since I have 2 small dogs, it’s a perfect place since I know there are no large dogs to run them over. If you read all the reviews here, you will realize it’s a special place. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Maria and Peanut’s Pals. I would give them 10 stars here if I could. The only negative is that I worry Maria is running herself ragged and I wish she had more help. My dogs could be in no better place than my home (and with all the petting, socialization and treats, they’d probably disagree). Please take your small dog/​s to Peanut’s Pals. You will be SO glad you did. If they went out of business it might not be on the front page of the Seattle times, but it would still be a major crime.

We’ve been taking our dog Chewie to Peanut’s Pals for daycare and also boarded him for a week when we went on vacation. He absolutely loves going there. He gets so excited when we get out of the car that he runs and tries to «dig» his way through the front door to get inside. (Even after being boarded for a week during our family vacation, the first time we took him back for a day of daycare he ran as fast as he could to get inside and play!) The rates are very reasonable & we know he’s getting lots of attention and care. Highly recommend it!

Peanut’s Pals is a very warm and inviting hang-​out for dogs! There is plenty to do and lots of love. Maria makes sure each dog is taken care of and well-​petted. Her place is always immaculate and the pups are always happy. Peanut is a most gracious host to his doggie associates, and helps everyone feel welcome. Rates are very reasonable, and the location is pretty ideal, as Firdale Village has gone to the dogs. So, if you like, you can treat your doggie to lunch at the dining dog, and drop the satisfied pooch at Peanut’s Pals while you catch a play upstairs, or if you are going away for the weekend, she has excellent boarding, as well.
