ArtsNow: Nurturing the arts from creation to commerce. Presenting introductory to advanced classes in visual, performing, and literary arts, including workshops on the business of being an artist.

uLearn: Encouraging lifelong learning and personal enrichment to help individuals acquire skills and knowledge to pursue their passions and interests – both old and new.

History

Established in 2006.

When we began to feel the impact of the recent economic downturn, Edmonds Community College created ArtsNow to reach out to those looking to make some extra money with their passions. The goal is to learn to take avocations, like painting and short story writing, and develop them into viable business enterprises. ArtsNow continually reaches out to local artists and seeks to assist them in honing their craft and mastering the business side to market themselves, particularly online, and achieve financial success. With the recent addition of uLearn, other interests, like beekeeping and foreign language, are explored. This makes for more diverse skill development and gives students the ability to stand out in a highly competitive job market. Community education and enrichment was and remains ArtsNow/uLearn’s ultimate goal!
