Aldercrest Health & Rehabilitation Center

SO far so good! I’ll continue to update. My husband just recently went there to recover from an accident and it has been very pleasant so far.
It sounds like Shawn is airing his personal grievances which have nothing to do with this facility’s purpose.

Don’t do it. that Place is a nightmare now. They don’t care about their employees so why would you think they would care about the residence. It’s all about the money it’s not about the care. the parent company extended care the biggest group of assholes I’ve ever met.

My 90 year old father had knee replacement surgery and spent 4 weeks at Aldercrest. After looking at 2 other facilities, he chose Aldercrest because of the warmth he received when touring with my sister. I was able to bring him to Aldercrest from Virginia Mason (Seattle) and was able to be involved in the check in process. He had great care all the way around, both PT and OT therapists were fantastic with almost daily treatments, his nursing team was on top of everything and very friendly and the social worker, Caron, was one of his favorite people. In fact, he had me deliver a thank-​you and special treat for all the staff this morning now that he is back in his own home. The only reason I gave 4 instead of 5 stars, was that we were unaware that the facility had a high number of memory loss patients. My dad really had only a couple of other patients to interact with during meal times, et. which was difficult for him — as he reads the paper daily, and can discuss world politics, sports, movies, music, et. Luckily the facility was quite close for me to visit daily. Also would have paid extra for a private room but they only had a few that were already occupied. He was referred to in home therapy from Aldercrest. They use a company called Gentiva — also excellent! Thank you Aldercrest!

I just spent the most dangerous week of my life in this hell hole, «rehabilitating» after a fall. I was just there during the record-​breaking temperatures; not a good way to find out that the only air-​conditioning in the place is in the halls, and of course, the offices of the ‘officials.’ It reached well over 100º in our room.
No fans in the rooms, unless you put up a row, severely understaffed, and HUGE turnover. Almost ¾ of the people I met there were new hires, less than a month, and the older ones were just plain mean and ugly. The ‘doctor’ saw me once, asked me to wiggle my toes, and if I had any other health problems other than 3 broken bones. He put me on Coumadin, against the orders of my own doctor, 3 days after surgery, although it is highly contraindicated. My own doctor is appalled. I might have died.
Although I’m severely handicapped with multiple chemical sensitivity, the facility did nothing to accommodate my illness, and I was constantly bombarded by chemicals and a staff ignorant of any restrictions.
The food was inedible, unless you like grease, white bread, Koolaid, canned fruit and veggies, and mystery meat. Ramen would have been a treat. The baked potatoes that I had to ‘special order’ to keep anything down were my sustenance. Thanks, Jason.
There was more, but who would believe it all?
Yes, I’ve reported them to the Residential Care Oversight Board, Community Health Plan of WA, and the Snohomish County Ombudsman’s office. We can only hope that will do some good.

We had both of my in-​laws there just recently for a couple of months and were very pleased with their care, and most importantly my very opinionated mother in law loved the place and the people that work there. It doesn’t smell of urine. It isn’t the newest, prettiest facility around but the people that work there really care about the patients. They went the extra mile for us on several occasions.

Terrific to see that the piss poor treatment of employees continues on a tyrannical level here. Otherwise good people being treated like crap which ultimately leads to residents not receiving quality care. Great job to all the management there, you putzes. Get your act together, Aldercrest.
