Armstrong Auditorium is the premier performing arts theater in Edmond and greater Oklahoma City. It is home to the Armstrong International Cultural Foundation’s Performing Arts Series, which features a veritable «who’s who» of today’s brightest classical, jazz, ballet, chamber and folk music stars.
History
Established in 1996.
The Armstrong International Cultural Foundation began in 1996 with the mission to revive the cultural and humanitarian tradition of Herbert W. Armstrong, founder of the world-renown Ambassador International Cultural Foundation which became defunct after his death in 1986.
In 1998 the Armstrong Foundation began sponsoring a concert series in Edmond, Okla., reviving the tradition of Herbert Armstrong’s famed Ambassador Auditorium in Pasadena, Calif. – dubbed the «Carnegie Hall of the west coast.» Needing a world-class venue for its growing series, in 2010 the Armstrong Foundation opened Armstrong Auditorium in Edmond. Its performing arts series showcases a veritable «who’s who» of classical, ballet, jazz and folk music stars including the Russian National Ballet Theatre, the Vienna Boys Choir, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, Broadway star Brian Stokes Mitchell, baritone Nathan Gunn, pianist Andre Watts, the late composer Marvin Hamlisch and many other musical legends.
