Dr. Chung was excellent with my child, and I’d recommend him highly.

My daughter got to spin the prize wheel when she had her braces on and won an i-​pod shuffle! Dr Chung is very professional and answers all of my questions thoroughly at every visit.
When my daughter was terribly nervous, Dr. Chung and staffs explained everything directly to my daughter carefully, thoroughly, and with great warmth. Dr. Chung is very knowledgeable and the technology is top of the line. It was Amazing that my daughter did not have to take messy and gaggy impressions because Dr. Chung uses 3D scanner. Dr. Chung and his entire staff are wonderful. I am very happy with the result of my daughter’s smile

I have never written an online review before, but I felt it was worth writing about my experience with this orthodontist. Honestly, I should have seen the red flag when he misidentified one of my front lower teeth as a canine. I came to Dr. Chung because his Edison office was convenient to my home, and I saw some positive reviews about him. I went to Dr. Chung to discuss getting braces, and he said I needed to see an expensive periodontist he knew an hour from my home to get the green light for the treatment. I wasn’t sure about it but went anyway, thinking that Dr. Chung was just being cautious, and that it would be good to be thorough for my own sake. A few weeks later, I returned with the 100% go-​ahead from the periodontist and went to see Dr. Chung. He changed his story and told me that despite the approval that he originally requested, I would need to go through an additional year of expensive treatment, including four tooth extractions, to even consider braces (I consulted four other orthodontists previously, including my dad who unfortunately practices in Korea, and Dr. Chung was the only one who said this). He got defensive, then even aggressive, when I asked point blank why I was being made to drive all over NJ to get approval that wouldn’t even give him certainty about my candidacy for braces anyway. After an exhausting and expensive process, It has become clear to me that Dr. Chung is not thorough — he is just after money. To add insult to injury, his receptionists failed to mention that they were booking me in his Millburn office for only a consultation post-​perio, rather than proceeding with treatment, despite my being led to believe I would be beginning treatment (because of the green light from the perio). I thus drove 40 minutes each way from home, was kept waiting for 30 minutes, only to have 10 minutes with Dr. Chung, during which he proceeded to tell me he was changing what he had initially told me. I won’t be returning to Dr. Chung and would not under any circumstances recommend him to others.
