Been there once and was impressed. Not only their food is good, but the place and the service was good too. We went there fore Brunch Buffet. There were a lot items in the Buffet. We were not able to try all of them, but whatever he tried was good. Their service was also very good. The person on the counter was well dressed, comes to you and greets you. We really enjoyed their food and service.

We eat here a lot and I’ve been meaning to give a really great review but just ate here last Friday and was not so happy. First, the waiter who was very nice is no longer working there. The wait staff is really bad otherwise. They don’t know to leave 4 plates and 4 sets of utensils but will remove everything, leave 2 sets and plastic cups. Then they are confused about the menu, and don’t understand can we get the appetizers first. Also being charged incorrectly didn’t help. The food was great every time we ate there before, but it wasn’t the same Friday. I almost think they have a different chef. The prices are good. The only thing is the dishes don’t come with rice or bread. I think rice or bread should be standard.

Had a Friday lunch buffet. Low key décor and food average at best. Needless to say that in the Oak Tree area the average bar is quite low.

I cannot tell you how many valimas I’ve been to at this location. The kashmiri chai and the rasmalai make this place my #1 spot in Edison. The venue is pleasant inside. The outside does look a bit rachet, they could spruce it up a bit more on the outside, add some more bushes, maybe a water fountain, some nice lighting, it’s quite plain out there. Other than that, this place holds a lot of memories, many pleasant ones. The owners and management are extremely pleasant and very accomodating. The food is great and the service is on point. There are always hiccups here and there but it’s not any different at other venues.

I went there on 07/26/2015. Food was not great and options were also limited. For this price there are other better places in the area.

Food: really good Service: really good Ambience: so so This is my favorite Pakistani/Indian dinning place around Edison. I have been here numerous times. This is my family’s go to place. I have had them cater my mom’s birthday. Every time I have been satisfied. The servers are polite and friendly. The place does not seem like much from the outside and the inside is clean but no clear theme. Having said that you do not go to Shalimar for the ambience you go there for the food. The food here is really good some of my favorites are Haleem, chicken Kat-a-Kat, goat karahi and chicken jal farazee. Another plus is that they serve you in real plates not paper ones like most of the places in the area. Overall if you want good Pakistani food Shalimar is the place to go.

Hands down this is the best place for desi food in Jersey! Lately my parents and I come here for brunch whenever my parents want desi food that we don’t cook at home. For brunch there is an appetizer section as well as a brunch section. For appetizers there is chicken soup, papari chaat, and dhai bare. The brunch table has lunch/dinner dishes as well as some yummy breakfast dishes such as chana chat and aloo ki buhjiya paired with puris(fried dough). Lastly for dessert there is rice pudding(kheer), jello, and gulab jaman(a type of sweet). For tea there is Kashmiri chai or regular chai.

We went back for the weekend buffet and it was fantastic. There were at least 15 – 20 different veg and non veg options and, while I’m a carnivore on most days that end in Y, I had to make an exception for the excellent vegetarian options that they had. As is true for most IndoPak buffets, nothing is healthy, and everything is delicious. They also have some traditional options that are not really seen in your average buffet like nihari, which is a soup made from the bones and bone marrows of goat and beef and Haleem which is a meat paste with lentils and spices. Highly recommend this place for both the adventurous and not so adventurous eater.

I still stand by my previous review. This place is the real deal with excellent food. To all of you near Edison, if you want to take a trip to Flavor Town, go to Shezan!!!

Important note – this Muslim place does not allow alcohol. I respect their view, but diners should be aware. Food is ok, but not as good as Khyber Grill or Rasoi. Good service.

So this place has 2 entrances, a banquet hall in the back and the restaurant in the front. But all the parking is in the back. So we park, and figure 3 white people in jeans and polos can strut in through the back no problem right? Not so much… walked into at least 50 traditional Pakistani people in the banquet room, all staring down whitey. Now, I’m not racist, but that was not particularly comfortable– and we went out the back without trying to navigate through that room to the front, so I can’t even say if the 2 are attached. A sign would have been nice though. Anyway, we go around front and sit down. Menu was printed with a potato, but we manage to find some stuff we’ve had before, and we were with a Indian food newb so we took it easy on him. The tikka masala we ordered spicy and they did it up good. But the chicken korma was topped with a layer of oil and the sauce was totally separated. Would avoid the later. All the nan was delicious, and the samosa and pakora were both very light– enjoyed those. The mango lassi was warm, and the only down side of service. So for 2 appetizers and 3 entrees, with 2 lassi and rice, the entire meal was $ 60. No complaints there. I tipped 12, 20%, and thought that was that. Except as I was paying and signing my card, the waiter lets me know he forgot the lassi on the bill. Let me be clear, I had already signed and put on the tip, so I just said«thanks, appreciate it» and didn’t think twice. My buddy told me later the waiter looked at the bill right away and frowned at his tip… and we thought maybe he had to cover the lassi out of what we gave him and was hoping for a bigger tip. That realization happened later, but come on. Left a bad taste after a decent meal, will keep exploring.

BEST food I ate in my last ten years in US(and I eat out a LOT)! Food is great! You’d definitely overeat! Chicken Karahi was just perfect! Ambiance is great! Really decent looking… Would love to go back! Service could be a little better though! Try their countless item buffet on special days like mothers day, valentines day, Eid etc.

We visited Shezan this evening with friends. The restaurant is small and tasteful, and the aromas from the kitchen were welcoming. We each ordered different dishes and shared with the table. Each dish was excellently prepared and very tasty. Well worth a return visit. As a side note, alcohol is not served nor is it allowed to BYO based on religious beliefs, so leave the wine/beer at home.

Even the best restaurants put out a sad buffet and therefore I have a scale to measure a good restaurant’s a la carte from the taste their buffet. So, a 2 star buffet will give you a 3(3.5, if you are lucky) on the dinner menu. And the orifice out of the black hole of bad buffets is this restaurant in Edison NJ — I bumped into this place while searching for another place, and it was a lucky find too. The décor was great and the ambience was silent(it was a weekday afternoon so there was me and a voracious meat eater). And the food was awesome, hot and very well presented too. Except maybe the Biriyani could have been a bit spicier. The Chaat was the best I have had in a Indian/Pakistani restaurant in the America. I would definitely believe that dinner would be a 6 or 7 star. Goes into my list of awesome finds…
